Glory, glory, Tottenham Hotspur!

Last time we had a score like that was against Blackburn Rovers in the early 80's I think.

And it's Tottenham Hotspur, THFC
We are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen.

Just googled it and it was 9-0 vs Bristol Rovers in 1977.

Putting last weekend's result behind us, but I stumbled across this just now, enjoy

that ones a beauty in regards to Gallas signing.

Heard about Ade possibly coming? Hope not. He's been utter sh*te ever since he did that great celebration against the Arse

I heard Ryan Babel on loan. Though it was Goal.

Triffic!

(Not the Ade bit)

We need the Trifficometer to get going this season.

last gasp bid for  van der vaart. 8 million pounds sounds like a bargain.
.

Yea also Pletikosa was confirmed as a loan signing.

I have no idea how Bayern Munich failed to buy VDV with a 18million pound bid then we managed to get in with an 8mil bid. Do Real Madrid actually care about money?

Levy would have shat himself twice over if he made that big a loss

As this been confirmed yet??? VDV for 8million is pretty darn cheap i must say

go gunners

Na I would assume they are going over the finer details at the moment. Apparently his move to Bayern fell through.

Also South African centre back Bogani Khumalo is on a trial and they reckon he could also sign

Have a nose at this, the interviewer calls Harry a 'Wheeler Dealer' and watch his response...uses the 'f-bomb' a couple of times in response...

Now that the dust has settled on the transfer market, I am happy with our lot.

Gallas will be great, and another keeper will be handy if gomez does get injured.

Modric coming back from injury, Defoe not going under the knife anymore..yep I am a happy Yid!!

Even if VDV doesn't show up.

COYS!!!

I wrote this below earlier and i still firmly believe it...and think we have missed the boat on this one...

I think what we really need is a striker who can play as one on his own, whether it be at the top end of a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-5-1.

I don't think any of our 4 strikers can play in that system. Pushed, I would say Pav might be the best of an unsuitable bunch.

If we make it past the Young Boys (god forbid) we'll have to play those systems in Europe, we'd be slaughtered playing 4-4-2.

And I said Crouch, and he scored 3

Perhaps on a more serious note, how many world class strikers are there who can play as the sole target man consistently?

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you Dougie that we could have done with an option to play up front on their own, and Pav is probably going to be our best option now (when he's in the mood). VdV should, however, give us a few things in this area, being:

Goals from m/f (Bale aside, we don't get enough, and he's only just started doing so)
Experience/creativity in the final third - Gudjohnson gave us this to an extent last yr, but VDV is another level up.
An option to play 'in the hole' - I know this doesn't get rid of the problem of who to put up top on their own, but it should take some of the pressure off...

But, like WHL I'm pretty pleased with the lot from this window - all of the players coming in have experience at the top and will add much needed leadership to the team. Nice wheeler-dealing Harry!!

I am of the opinion that you play a formation that suits your squad, and play to your strengths.

Horses for courses perhaps.

4-4-2 with Defoe striking and Crouch as a target ? I am comfortable with that.

But if it means playing Pav alone and introducing a couple of attacking mid fielders then go for it.

'Arry seems flexible and thats the key for me.

He got MRs VDV's number...surely that is all that matters?

Cudicini no23

Yep, VDV gets 11. Sandro 30, Billy G 13 and Pletikosa 37.

Feel a bit sorry for Woody not making the 25 - hopefully the 'time off' will help his recovery. Would be a shame to lose him...
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
We have hardly had him since he joined us.

I get the feeling this might be it for Woody.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yea looks like Woody may have to call it quits soon.

I will never forget that Carling Cup final..

dawson, yuck

despite being yids i feel for you lads, those international injuries are normally our forte...

Woodgate's best moment will always be his Madrid debut where he scored an own goal then got sent off.

Is the CL game on the telly then?
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yes.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
And what a game. Mixed emotions, as if BAE - weird clearance and crap defending - and Cudicini - come and collect it man! - had sorted it out a 2-0 lead into HT would have been magnificent.

Nevertheles, a point away from home in our first CL game is not to be sniffed at. I'm sure I'm a lot more content than Man U fans. Arf!
