Intersting blogs and discussion going on in Dear Mr Levy re Stratford move.  Must say that from a purely emotional perspective it does not appeal (but am still happy with the other proposal for Haringey)

On another note: I'm not as convinced that the Olympic Stadium bid is a ruse to get the local council to support the redevlopment of WHL as I was a month ago. While Coe and athletes hate the idea of Spurs knocking the 2012 stadium down and rebuilding a decent football stadium, will Boris the mayor really give the green light to the Hammers who would only fill up half a stadium at best (and significantly lower if they get relegated)?

As someone has said on another forum, the Olympic 2012 option might not be the best for Spurs supporters in the short term, but for the club it may make sense given the transport nightmare tht is getting to WHL and the transport nivana that is the East End 2012 stadium. Furthermore, the costs for a redeveloped WHL seems to have spirraled out of control.

Just think, we might just be Spurs by 2014!

Financially Olympic Stadium would be a safer bet, but I prefer the revamped WHL.
 
 The problem with track and fiels stadiums is the proximity to the pitch, you generally get a 40-50 yard gap on one side of the ground.

Sadly I think you are right. Although it might be a different outcome if public money was then thrown at the redevelopment proposal.

Last 1/3 of the pitch our downfall, not often I've been able to say ourback four looked good on attack and defence.

Would have hoped for more from Bale, but Lennon seemed to be the go to man on the wings a little too much.

THFC have said they would remove the track, meaning the pitch is 8 yards away from the seating, and will pump some money into the Crystal Palace Athletics Venue to appease the Athletic fraternity.

West Ham will leave the track meaning the nearest seat is 48 yards from the pitch...

Don't really want them to move from WHL, but 200m v 450million, the 250m is a lot of good players and salaries, if we go for 450m option does that mean we have a great stadium, but can't afford to improve the squad...

WHL has a capacity of 36k. There is a wait list for season tickets of 34k. That's partly driving the move to a bigger venue. 60k+ stadium full of yiddos in full voice would be awesome.

But yes, Spurs supporters have always out-passioned Gooners (and there is a reason that their stadium is called the library).

Decision on the stadium next week.  Lots of noise ramping up.

If we don't get the stadium, my take on this is that Spurs have to stump up with the full 450 mill pounds (and counting).  While the Hammers get a cheap stadium and are offering a family ticket for the price of a current adult ticket as a way to fill up the place.  And Emirates had a lot of public money too.
 
Might have to sell Bale, Modric, VDV, Dawson, Lennon et al to pay for it.

Mine too, because:
The Olympic stadium should keep a running track in my opinion
A regenerated WHL would be awesome, and the area could certainly do with regeneration!
We are Tottenham (from the Lane), and should stay that way!!

Happy to have Pienaar on board too, upgrade on Bentley+Niko so frees up a squad spot too...

I think the club will remain at WHL v.2
 
But I can't believe that Spurs would spend so much time and pounds to put in a bid if it wasn't genuinely serious (rather than to just play footsies with Haringey Council to get some assistance with costs).
 
Spooky on DML has blogged quite a comprehensive pro/con missive.  I'm still not swayed either way (although my emotions say WHL).

I always think this stat is a bit misleading. Spurs have a max of 20k season tickets, leaving some 16k tickets up for grabs each game, surely there must be a large portion of those waiting for season tickets who make up that 16k.

Therefore it's not as simple as saying 36k plus 34k on the waiting list means we'll fill it easily.

I do however believe we would fill it no problem, but I see this stat bandied around all the time...

The public money is for doing up heritage sites around the area.  It is an extra 50m pounds for Spurs.
 
Wembley and Emirates had public money for this.

I'm skeptical outpassioned is the right word. It's like MUFC claiming they have 'more tradition' or some such. Anyone can make more noise by braying like a donkey. This may not increase a feeling of good will at  a football game.

Standards of success and/or expectation come into it as well. It's probably a cause of celebration for your lot to say, score a goal that involved 3 or more passes, or go 45 minutes without receiving a yellow card.

For the Arsenal fan however, reasons for vocal celebration are far higher, say going the season undefeated, or actually winning a trophy of some significance.
