Didn't really like the fingersaves i got that's why i switched back to nike this year. Couldn't punch the ball effectively and as DKP says restricted hand movements.

Three for me, and two for them.

I Tell you DKP.... Gloveless is the way to go! People don't take you seriously when you keep without gloves.

I kept gloveless for about half the season last year, was very effective especially in muddy conditions, when it rained though was just too wet......

Gloves went alright, very sticky as all new gloves usually are. Had a shocker personally though.

Head up Buffon, a week is a long time in football, just focus on training and next Saturday. Got taken out in mid-air in today's match and landed on my back quite hard. Walking very gingerly at the moment, hoping I'm alright for training on Tuesday.

i agree, heads up. we cant do everything every week.keeping your head up weekn in week out helps more in games now as well i have learned. use to sulk and take every goal personaly which in some instances lead to more mistakes. but have learnt to pic it out and go agian. sat was a prime example. we were down 3 - 1 (of which i couldnt have done anything - peno, oggie and a cut back tap in). went out in the 2nd half kept positive and ended up saving our team a point with a mom proformance

hope this helps, we need to help each other

Have of pair of the Adidas Fingersaves that Buffon II posted....they are a great pair of gloves

I know what you mean DKP by fingersaves normally being restrictive (I never bought a pair because of it) until I tried on those adidas ones...no issue punching with them at all (the ball of course).

There are also a couple of pairs of fingersaves floating around (I can't remember who they are made by) where each of the plastic finger backers are removable...it means that they act like normal gloves unless you have an injured finger/s in which case you can give those fingers some support. Good idea, though i wasn't 100% convinced by the ones i tried on

Congratulationss radioman on your performance against PNM in the weekend. Too bad the rest of the team usually has to have a nightmare for us 'keepers to truly get the credit we deserve.

Funny that DKP. I got credit last year in my U19 team when we won the league only dropping 7 points along the way and had the best defensive record in the league. It was probably because in the games that mattered like title deciders i made crucial saves including saving a penalty in the most important match of the season. Also went 7 games without conceding a goal from open play.

Three for me, and two for them.

Fantastic effort. Yea just like you said "It was probably because in the games that mattered like title deciders i made crucial saves including saving a penalty in the most important match of the season". A lot of people think that the only way a goalkeeper can have a good game is by making those kind of saves that you mentioned. They forget about how a goalkeeper can marshall his defence, his communication, dominating his box when the ball comes in etc that is even more effective in stopping the opposition scoring. Things like that deserve as much credit as pulling off the spectacular.

i agree, i think that is why it is more important to have your team (defenders especialy) give you a pat oon the back because you might organise them so well and talk the whole game that they do a better job and you really only have 2pick up the pieces.

almost had the fiorst clean sheet of the season (2nd game in) until my right back decided that walking the ball across the 18 yeard box was a good idea 5 mins from closing and he was stripped in front of goal leaving me stranded.......... Was not happy at all..

Personally i think I'd kill my defenders if they scored an own goal, utterly criminal - although having said that i had three incidents last year where my defending players handled the ball in the 6 yard box - automatic penalty *sigh*

LOL, he possibly won't get that many chances to take him out, Endo is spending a bit of time in Japan getting married, and then possibly heading over to Britain with the in-laws (though i'm not 100% certain about that 1).

Just initials (couldn't resist). they are fingersaves as well. A lot different to those addidas one on previous page (which i used last year)  They seem to be a lot more flexible for punching etc.

So i use my old addidas ones for warmups and a third pair for practices.

The old Just Keepers personalisation. Love it.

Never tried Reusch. They must be OK, the Germans know their latex.

haha an old pair for warmups.  Otherwise the proper ones wear out far too quickly.

So apart from Juve and Italy, who else do you play for Buffon?

Ahah so your a target during the local derby. Didn't realise you were an out-of-towny
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Yeah i know i'm a jafa but please don't hold that against me.

Big target in derby games. Got abuse (healthy albeit) all through last year's challenge cup game there. Got them back though with a 3-0 win and probably my best performance of the season.

Three for me, and two for them.

I'll try not to hold it against you.  I've always loved a bit of healthy abuse with the opposition.  I never miss an opportunity

Drew 2-2 today. 1st goal did a Reina, 2nd wasn't too much better, very much soft goals. Two points dropped for sure.
