utter shambles, NZFA need to get the cheque book out and get oceania's delegate to get this sorted.

Sounds to me like FIFA want us to play him and have someone challenge it before they'll bother doing any work
Playing him against the Solomons if we're already qualified sounds like the best idea.
Although from what I can see, if the Solomons don't challenge it, it doesn't mean he would then be fine - it would be open to Dura's next opponent to challenge after that as well wouldn't it? Couldn't we hypothetically be challenged on it at the world cup finals if no one has bothered to question it up to that point? Imagine the drama if we qualified, went to the world cup finals, knocked someone out, and they challenged us then... lol the aussies themselves will probably challenge it!
What I'm saying is, this whole thing will be sorted in the coming days.
I guess its like cricket. The umpires won't give you out LBW unless you appeal even if its likely that you would be so without the appeal.
Grumpy old bastard alert
and on what authourity do you base that comment on nufc_nz??
Grumpy old bastard alert
why should we? you've not got any standing with YF top actually suggest we should trust you or you sources.

and on what authourity do you base that comment on nufc_nz??
my concern is really based around the possiblity of this being drawn out, the way Fifa is run and the poor manageament of issues with NZFA - the moss incident and his ban for cards and the sunsequent appeal being stuufed up comes to mind - I can see this being an unresolved issue for too long which will hurt Dura's career, and possible the AW's
Queenslander 3x a year.
So you're saying WC 2014 we may still not know if Dura can play for AW's ?
The only reason it has not happened yet is because they were given about a week to grant him eligible. It's a process. You can't do these things willy nilly.
Well this is a first.
nufc_nz is the one not angsting out over this.
(careful with your last post too - it was quite sensible).

worst case scenario it could I suppose, Fifa has already given an answer but apparently it wasn't definative - so the process has been completed as far as the checks etc, all that was needed was Fifa to get off the fence and say yep go ahead - my understanding is they've said something along the lines of "I guess we don't have an issue with it, someone else might" - NZFA asked for clarification a week ago and have not had a response. Why the delay, he meets citizenship requirements, he hasn't taken the field for another international team. If he played tonight a protest could be lodged and force Fifa's hand, Ricki and the team have been smart and gone for the win first and will probably play dura on Tuesday, if the solomon's don't protest and Fifa still don't clarify the "yeah I guess" answer then the next competitive game we have we are still in the dark about whether playing Dura could cost us the win.

If nufc_nz says its going to be sorted in the next few days, I believe him. If anyone has the inside word on FIFA, it's him.

syria is a good example of what FIFA might do
The whole fax thing isn't a joke haha look at this regarding Football Federation of FYR Macedonia's vote for the Ballon d’Or http://d3w.io/15yY29H they legitimately use fax as a primary communication tool by the looks of it

Has not been sorted. Nothing from FIFA. Dura is in Tuesday's starting line-up.
Beware the next Syria.

No lol. I don't think I included a large enough cheque as an attachment.

So are the Solomons filing a protest or no?
Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009

How ridiculous is it that this had to happen? We ask, they don't want to answer, so we have to play him without clearance in a competitive game, then ask somebody else to ask FIFA.
Mickey Mouse stuff.
Allegedly
Fred de Jong is or was supposedly some sort of FIFA ambassador / representative. Why the hell Fred does not get on a plane, fly to Zurich and get this sorted once and for all.

Apparently we have asked both Solomons and OFC to file one
Not quite:
There is a possibility the Solomons may protest Durante's participation in tonight's match, which would then force Fifa into making a clear call.
Speaking before the game, New Zealand Football chief executive Grant McKavanagh said they were close to resolving Durante's eligibility.
''We're talking with OFC and with Fifa in regards to the right way to ensure that we've got clarity on that,'' McKavanagh said.
''I don't think it's a situation where you want to ask someone to protest you. So we're just trying to figure out the right way to do it. We're closing in on it, put it that way.''

That does make it sound like they are taking a slightly more considered approach, which is good.
To be honest, I think the whole situation is being blown out of proportion anyway. Fred de Jong stated a week or so ago that the only sticking point was whether Dura has lived in NZ for 5 years. Obviously he has for the purposes of getting NZ citizenship, but it can be defined different ways (is it a certain number of days a year etc) so we need FIFA to clarify what they mean for their purposes.None of this matters until November, however. By then Dura will have lived in NZ for a further 6 months so I'm pretty confident that whatever the definition of "lived somewhere for 5 years" turns out to be he will be able to satisfy that condition.

This is smart - definately force Fifa's hand

Rigor interviews Dura about 4 mins in this link http://content.radionetwork.co.nz/weekondemand/radiosport/40745.mp3
But it isn't sorted. And hardly "in the next few days" as you said.
But yeah, well done on providing the inside information on FIFAs activities. You must be very well connected.
