So Howiesons contract expires next year and he is only on the bench for the development squad. He needs a big year or he will be cut at the end of his contract. Would be a good pickup for the Nix

As long as he keeps developing, then the A League should not be his first option. The counterpoint to that is Wee Mac whom is one of the leagues better players and considering his background, surprisingly stayed here.

I don't think too much can be read in to the fact he was on the bench for the development squad. He had a extended break and joined the club late so they may be slowly getting him back up to match fitness and alo protecting him a little bit as he is part of the extended first team squad.

Pretty sure he has not dropped off their team radar completely.

I watched a couple of U21 matches over the past couple of weeks.  I was shocked at the standard - I really did think it was pretty poor.  Technically they're all brilliant, and the patterns of play etc are as you'd expect.  But there's a complete lack of intensity and physicality, they're all so slight.  It looked to me like a good A-League team would dominate them.  It does worry me about Howieson and also Payne that they're stuck at this level without getting many chances at first team level, and we're potentially relying on them for the AWs.  I'd much rather see them in the A-League.

sign 'em up- we seem to be looking for another class midfielder.

How do Howieson, Payne and Fenton rate compared to each other do you reckon?

I saw Payne and Howieson at the Olympics and I really liked both of them.  In those games Payne was probably the standout but both looked impressive.  I've never seen Fenton play live

I'd really hope that in the next World Cup cycle the word went out that players need to be playing senior football somewhere to be realistically considered for the AWs

I was just wondering where Fenton was at playing for the 'Nix compared to these two in the under-21s in England. Louis seemed capable of playing an attacking midfield role last year, and didn't seem too far behind them in terms of skill.

Phoenix should be looking to make a play for him - he needs football to progress

some of the phoenix youth signings looking rash now as we've signed too much chaff and not enough quality, especially when we don't have enough spots to bring in potential Kiwi back up further.

Hes 18 playing in sides reserves. We have to give him time i guess

Only 18 and his club pressing for promo to premier league. Not many 18 year olds playing in midfield in championship. Judge him at 20.

Cam has just been called up but has not played at a senior level since his last All Whites appearance.  Is he not making the grade in the UK?

19 year old in the 2nd best champtionship team. Not surprising really.

His contract expires at end of this season so will be interesting to see what happens.
