Is him being injured why Logan Rogerson has gotten a last minute call up to the AW's next week?

I see Ben Old is managing an injury in France too. So could be for him? Guess we wait on NZF to confirm.

Mansfield Town & Northampton Town (both play in League One) rumours flying about now.

Looks like the Waine 🚂 will be pulling up to Mansfield Town on loan. Nothing official yet mind you...

They have a live fans forum/function on at the moment and I've been following this all very bleary eyed through the working night. Someone has also picked up that a relative of Waine has started following Mansfield Town socials. Good to see the fans putting together the social media trail over in England too. 😂

I'm guessing the bloke in the left of centre up front is expecting some exciting news as well. 🚂

All the evidence suggests that we should no longer be happy when young Kiwis get contracts overseas. It hasn't seemed to end well for a long time.

A loan to League One is literally perfect for Waine. He's 22 and not good enough right now to make an impact in the Championship - and that's fine, not many people are. He'll be much better for this

Doloras I love your political takes but man I struggle with the football ones. That's utter nonsense.

Waine to Mansfield Town on a season long loan has been confirmed. He still looks good in yellow

He sure does, congratulations on the loan move Waineo!

League one will be a good opportunity to show how good he is. Dominate, help Mansfield to get promoted and the sky is the limit. Although they sit mid-table right now.

East midlands in winter might feel like a whole different country to Plymouth, will certainly be a different experience for the guy
Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

A perfect move for him. Six months after he joined Argyle they were promoted to the Championship and he never got a lead in of time in League 1 which would have been ideal. He has said he never expected to be playing in the Championship so soon after joining the club.
He has family in the north of England so he some support at the personal level

Great move. Hoping he’s fit and can get straight into it and prove he can cut it in league 1 at least.
You cant just pick and choose which laws to follow. Sure Id like to tape a baseball game without the express written consent of major league baseball, but thats just not the way it works.-Hank Hill

Seeing some chat between Argyle fans and Mansfield fans asking what they are getting in the Waine train, Argyle fans saying he is a great person and works hard but runs around like a headless chook with no great speed who is not ready for championship. Most are wishing him well and hopes he bangs a few goals but some are pretty keen on him being gone.

I wonder if Ben loses some potential mates in football because he sounds too posh? English football class politics being what they are and all and accents a key part of them.

Won't miss any club action while he's in the USA at least.

Looking at the Facebook comments on the post on their page, it seems like the Argyle fans really liked him.  A lot saying that he isn't ready for championship but looking forward to seeing him back in a year with some League 1 game time under his belt.  Also a lot commenting on his work rate.

Seems like they hold him in high regard but acknowledge he's young and not quite ready for their team.

Seems like he's done a damn fine job over there to have that kind of reputation.

The post shared in the Nix site has sharkloads more arguing than theirs does.

The ones wanting him gone are a minority. Most of us realise he needs a season in league one to get minutes and goals under his belt. If we get relegated this season he’ll become a very important player for us next season.

Watched Shane's debut at Notts County - looked OK, but Mansfield were in a bit of a shambles at the time.  Manager was Carlton Palmer, he left soon after!

Niche Cache.

Mansfield Town are a League One side, hence this is only dropping down one division. Same tier that he joined Plymouth in prior to their promotion. Mansfield were themselves promoted from League Two last term after finishing third behind Stockport and Wrexham. They’ve settled nicely into L1 with five points from four games to date... and they’re doing so with a rebuilt centre-forward contingent. They’d already signed Lee Gregory and Will Evans prior to getting Ben Waine on board and that’s because last year’s top scorer Davis Keillor-Dunn (22 goals) has joined Barnsley while back-up Will Swann (9 goals) has joined Crawley Town. Another of their recent signings is Aussie midfielder Keanu Baccus who previously played with Alex Greive at St Mirren.

MTFC manager Nigel Clough: “We’re very pleased to get Ben on board. He wanted an opportunity to go on loan and play some games. We received good references on him from the New Zealand manager and a few other contacts we have. When Chris Woods [sic] is injured for New Zealand, he’s the one who plays, and he’s also scored some goals for Wellington. He’s not had too many opportunities at Plymouth but we like what we’ve seen of him.”

Not on Ben Waine, but there is two thing wrong in that article. Its not the Mainland Premier League, its the Canterbury Premiership League. Wanaka did not win the Southern Premier League, Mosgiel did. But hey who care. Be semi interesting to see if Wayne keeps track on waimak.

Mansfield play Cambridge 11:30pm NZT. Surely Waine has earned his first start up front with Gregory after the US match.

Has he trained much with MT? Arrived then went away with AWs

Mansfield have a midweek EFL game against Bradford. I think he will on the bench against Cambridge and get his first start in the EFL game.

Waine on the bench, you were right Peverell, should definitely get his first start in the EFL Trophy this week.

Waineo with good company on the bench in the form of Keanu Baccus.
Baccus a full game for the Socceroos in Indonesia, and the first time he hasn't started a L1 league game for Mansfied this season.

MT 1-0 up at HT.

Edit - Waine on at 78 mins (2-1) in a 2-1 win. Baccus on at 59 mins (1-1)
17 Sep 19:22
Waine starting, playing up top in what looks like a front two. Not seen too much of the ball, one blocked shot, one blocked cross. Getting into the right positions but Mansfield not creating many clear chances in the final third. Bradford 2-0 up at half time and looking by far the more dangerous team.
17 Sep 20:23
More involved this half with a couple of nice possessions. Not sure he'll have done enough to force a first team start, but didn't do anything wrong in a fairly poor Mansfield performance. Taken off at 79 minutes. Solid 3-0 win for the Bantams!

Waineo on at 74 mins (1-1) in 2-1 win
Baccus the assist for the winning goal
