What's the sauce on the 5th of August date?

I presume there is a better one but a Sam Worthington article on Stuff read...

Mercifully, the Michael McGlinchey mess is set to be resolved by the end of the week as an independent arbitrator prepares to make a ruling on whether the All Whites midfielder is contracted to the Phoenix or Central Coast Mariners.

He doesn't state his own sauce unfortunately.

His sauce is this thread

I heard beginning of August. So think 5th August is about right.

Best part IMO is CCM Fan Forum is quoting us and we are quoting them and the press follows

Hopefully we just used the press to force an arbitration result using unfounded rumours. Brilliant.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Say we dont get him. And hes goes back to CCM. I don't know what they would do with him!? Force him to train with the youth team? Surely you wouldn't put a guy who has actively been involved with another club back into your start 11. So he would sit on their books until January when he would presumably sign with us again?? For a cash strapped club this seems a poor financial decision...

(Sorry if this point has been addressed earlier)

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

I'm assuming it's more the principle of the situation that is driving the arguments.

If the arbiter declares his contract with CCM still to be valid, he will be there for the rest of this season. With CCM insisting they expect him back in January, I'm not sure if he would train with the club or not.

Following that line of thought, CCM are also obligated to pay him wages. And if they want to play this game and bench or reserve team him, they will still have to pay his wages and use up a spot for someone else who might have been motivated to making an effort. They should cut their losses and run.

If we thought a player screwed us over, (not saying weemac did, but obviously from their perspective that's what happened) I'd hope we would do the same.

The time must be soon if the already posted 5 August is correct...

On whether or not he would not give his all if he returns ... me thinks that is way off the mark he is a professional and IMO would play his best for a new contract from somewhere and the better he plays the better the offers...

Interesting post on 442 pertaining to the PFA ... its about Jon McKain seeking some more money ...

A poster called nnick posted the following about the PFA..

This is getting absolutely ridiculous with the PFA, on the one hand they don't want mcGlinchey to honour his contract on the other hand they are trying to squeeze every cent out of A-league cubs to pay for these aging Socceroos. McKain is lucky to have gone to the Middle East, he is a fairly average aging player and overpayed at Adelaide United. WHat I would like to see is the PFA go to the Middle East and try to take some legal action there, probably end up getting flogged.

random poster on 442 has opinion that wee mac is a CCM player.

Not that interesting.

It's also not about squeezing money from clubs. The clubs agreed contracts with these players (in this case mckain) and it's only fair that they honour that contract.

Piney said that the arbitration meeting was set down for Monday.

As for McKain, not sure how that relates to Wee Mac. He believes he is owed money and is entitled to seek payment for it, as any normal employee is able to do.

The poster was as they saw it saying the PFA seem always to side with the player ... in one case saying a contract exist and a club must pay this .. in the other case saying to ignore a contract ...

a contract in his opinion.

The PFA is saying McGlinchey is under contract with the nix, and isn't under contract with CCM. Their position is not to "ignore the contract"

Of course it looks like they always side with the players because they are not gonna come out and mention all the other cases in which players were in the wrong in a public forum. The PFA is like any other union, trying to protect its members interests but they are not going to give out bad legal advice. In both cases they believe a club has wronged one of their members and want a resolution to the issue.

Not disagreeing the answer will be with us soon enough both sides claim to have God on their side and a valid contract... the poster was simply stating the obvious the PFA back their members ...

Very interesting .... TWG site is saying the Mariners have lined up a replacement should they loose .... they may actually prefer this guy as I posted earlier the Mariners where looking for a replacement rather than get a player back without their heart in it ...

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2014/08/04/...

He is 22 years old and a rep in his national side at U 20 & U 21 .... my gut is we feel he is a better player .... but we don't want to say its over until we can confirm his signing ...

At 22 weeJudas was not playing for Scotland U 21 side ... this guy is playing for the Hungarian U 21 side ...

Also I could be wrong ...the last time was June 1974 ... so it could happen again ...

But way back on 23 July I posted..

Unofficial rumour ... but a reasonable source ... The Mariners believe they will win any legal fight ... however are holding off a tad and looking for a replacement ... if they can find one they will let him go ... if not they will enforce what they see as almost an open and shut case... the rumour is they may be close to finding his replacement ... on the basic better to have a player wanting to play rather than forced to play...

Saying a club is looking to replace a player they're likely to lose isn't exactly that big a call.
