I have a throwback Lions jersey with Sanders on the back.

Three for me, and two for them.

Any signs of the NFL admitting more teams?

Always tonnes of talk about LA and Toronto getting expansion spots (though lately it looks more like Buffalo relocating to take care of the latter). Nothing overly official though.

Toronto? But don't the Canadians play a 13-aside version of the game?

Anybody got a replica playing jersey of their fav team? I've got a Dolphins & Seahawks jersey.

Canadians do have CFL, but Toronto has teams in all the other US Major leagues (MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS), so guess the NFL would like the piece of the pie as well.
Teams/owners that get off-side with their city officials over stadiums, profits, etc, always threaten to take their team to LA, but nothing will happen on that front any time soon I reckon. Saints owner Tom Benson had threatened to move my beloved Saints to Los Angeles before Katrina due to disputes over the uperdome and the need for a more modern facility in the Big Easy, but after the hurricane he realised that moving the team would be a PR disaster, so he's now commited to staying in New Orleans and working with the city on all the still unresolved issues. The Colts had also threatened to move to LA before they got their new stadium deal in Indy, and they've moved to the new stadium this season so they're not going anywhere either. So in short, LA will remain without an NFL team for a few years yet.

And yes, I'm a proud owner of Saints home jersey, BUSH 25. Might get an away one as well, probably either Brees or Colston.

Well, did anyone see DeSean Jackson's TD disallowed because he prematurely threw the ball backwards just before he crossed the plane of the end zone?

Saw the game live, I actually thought he'd dropped the ball behind him. You can see his head jerk backwards for a moment as the ball dropped, and then he tried to pretend it was all cool, and that he'd scored the TD.

Even bigger muppets were the Cowboys DBs who just let the ball lie on the ground without picking it up. If they had done so, they would have got the ball back after the challenge and prevented the TD that Westbrook scored a play later.el grapadura2008-09-17 13:39:19

Not to mention that putting a team in Canada would create a much larger audience for the NFL, by adding an entire country to the potential fanbase as well as increased television rights.

...where have I heard that before?

CFL and NFL aren't exactly the same (CFL has a larger field, one less down and 13 men on the field) - it's kinda like saying there's not point of the NRL putting the Warriors in Auckland all those years ago because NZ already has the NPC - albeit league and union are perhaps more different than CFL and NFL.

what makes you think that Canadians don't already watch the NFL?

In fact some Canadians go to see games live. For example Toronto is within driving distance of places like Buffalo and Detroit.

I didn't mean to suggest that - heck I'm a Seahawks fan because of my connection to Vancouver, not Seattle I should have written it differently - What I meant is that adding a Canadian franchise would make a larger proportion of Canada jump on board with the league  - fans, sponsors, media etc. It's not as much of a big step as putting an A-League franchise in Aotearoa due to accessibility, but there are some similar parallels.

How good is Chicago Bears defence, especially in the fourth. Pity Orton is average and he ain't got any good playmakers to throw to.

Can't get over Bills and Titan being 4-0.

Didn't think Orton was bad - he did throw for 3 TDs against the Eagles, not a mean feat by any stretch of imagination. Sure he was under heavy pressure from their defence at times, but there's guys who'll look a lot worse when playing the Eagles than Orton did.
The Bears have a decent shout of winning that division.el grapadura2008-10-01 19:30:48

What chance Miami vs San Diego at home?

After last weeks demolition of the Pats who knows. Then again the Pats are a spent force and will struggle to make the playoffs this year let alone the Superbowl.

Three for me, and two for them.

I'd say the Chargers are a pretty safe bet there.

Sorry, I meant Miami at home to San Diego.  Still no chance?

Well, I'd say the Chargers ar the best team in the AFC, evn if their defence isn't as good now without Merriman. The Fish are decent, but I think their offense will struggle to keep up with San Diego regardless of where they play.
I think Miami would need a very good day, and Chargers to be below where they usually are for the Fish to pull off a win. My thoughts anyway.

LT Shut down and Rivers is just a dick.

Orton continues to surprise me, maybe Bears can go all the way with him. Also liking Jay Cutler, had him in fantasy last year, wish I had him this...especially when I've got Palmer

Another 4th Quarter comeback from Big Ben and another win for the Steelers. I'm liking my picks for Steelers vs. 'Boys SB

Wow just watching highlights on NFL.com. Indy game ridiculous.

Just goes to show what I know. LT rushed for 35 yards.

Can't believe i got to watch my Lions last night, i was amazed the game was on. Then i soon realised why they never usually show us. We are hopeless.

Three for me, and two for them.

Watching the Saints now and tearing my hair out.

Can't believe how we're losing at the moment. Penalties, turnovers, dodgy refereeing decisions, and Vikings doing next to nothng and sitting pretty 20-10 at halftime.

Farken ridiculous.

So pleased to see my Vikings get a win today, was surprised to see Gramatica as the Saints kicker didn't think anyone would have let him kick a field goal after he got cut from Tampa years back. Winfield with a huge game, Peterson not so much but we did enough to win an important game.
I'm loving having Ferotte as the quarterback atleast he can make some decent passes.

His sh*t kicking has cost two games so far. If we had me instead of him, we'd be 4-1 now. That's how bad he is.

Dug this thread up out of the depths of antiquity.

Just for News - Eagles still alive in the wildcard race and kept the Giants from clinching the NFC East.

Three more games and it could be a 100% record for the Lions...

It's quite horrid tbh. I still watch brief highlights on the net when i can but i dunno why i bother wasting my net with it. I'd bet on us going 0-16 now, we deserve it

The way we've been inconsistent, you probably have a chance against us in two weeks...we'll probably beat the Bears and Carolina, and lose to the Lions and miss out on the playoffs...

First pick in the draft - woohoo!

At least you don't have that false hope that your team will make the playoffs. I mean, how can you hold a team to 3 points through 3 quarters then give up 17 in the 4th. It's beyond belief!

Coincidentally, the Dallas loss today means that the NY Football Giants have now won NFC East.

I was going to ask if it reminded you of your playing days, but you never held a team to three points through three quarters did you ?

How's my driving? - Whine here

Yeah saw something on a design blog/site I check. You can even suggest names for teams.

Also, Titans, Giants and Cardinals all clinched their divisions

Yeah we did have that false hope last year when we were 6-2 halfway through the season. Unfortunately in typical Detroit Lions fashion we went on what seemed like an endless losing streak and ended up nowhere near the playoffs.

Three for me, and two for them.
