I'm going to be controversial here and say that the 20 overs each has finished in a tie because of McCullum - by refusing to keep, Hopkins missed the easy runout of White, and then McCullum in the outfield fumbled, allowing the 2, and getting white back on strike.

I am not Southee's biggest fan, always thought he had the potential, but wasn't yet there mentally. He has won me over tonight. His performance under pressure is nothing short of superb. Even taking the last ball clean and taking the stumps as calmly as he did shows his maturity.

Who cares its twenty20 crap.
You make a very good point. I usually would agree, but this game tonight has sucked me in!
im in the same boat, never cared about a t20 as much as i have this one tonight. feel slightly embaressed myself.

It's Aussie but i still couldn't care less.
I can't wait till it's over so we can concentrate on real cricket.
Three for me, and two for them.

I'm not the biggest fan of T20's, much more prefer the tests, however, it was hard not to get into that and I'm all for one maybe two of those games at the start of a series to get the crowds interested, cause that will sure get everyone up for the ODIs. I don't, however, want these to become 5 match series etc, and take over from ODI and test cricket.

Great game, very exciting. Sorry to disagree but I like T20's as much as I like the Tests and One dayers
Hopkins was good with the bat, but definitely not our number 1 wicketkeeper. Also McCullum isn't refusing, they would prefer McCullum fielding to Hopkins.

I realise that they have done it before, but it is stupid. McCullum is the best keeper in he country, therefore he keeps. It is much easier to hide a poor to average fielder than it is to hide an average keeper.
yup dumb. lets reward a dude who can't field properly by giving him keepers gloves.

Oh I completely agree, McCullum should definitely be behind the stumps. Hopkins is a passenger in that side. Apart from today and sort of Friday, I've never seen a quality innings or keeping display for NZ. Far prefer a specialist batter or allrounder. Broom, Styris or someone.

As a newcomer to watching cricket, I have to say that I much prefer Twenty20 and ODI's to the tests. Just far too long and drawn out for me.

hopkins is sh*t. i can't understand why he gets picked. i'd easily take broom or the styris over him

cost us the game...
yeah and in wellington he cocked up a stumping too. why would you have two wicket keepers in the team? and one is better at both keeping and batting. although he played a good knock tonight, hopkins has to go. bring in another batsmen - vincent? watling? broom? even neil parlane is better, even styris ffs
Fuck this stupid game

did anyone see or think they saw shaun taite flip the bird to baz?
I thought I saw something like that? It was on a close up replay and you couldn't quite see his whole hand? Got a vague memory of it.

I'm actually surprised how indifferent to that game I was. I intensely dislike the T20 concept, but although I enjoyed McCullum's innings, I just couldn't get into it, even at the finish.
But I'm looking forward to the real cricket now.
