And to top of a very good cricketing day. Wellington hammered Canterbury by an innings and 42 runs at the Basin. 168/8 now.

I would love it if there was some cricket at the Basin while I was over, I'll have to check.

Mark Taylor and Tony Greig are suggesting Australia should hit out or get out because of the utter sh*te that is our batting. Love it! They're just saying what we are all thinking

Oh fuk, we will be batting soon. Id say 60/40 against we end up with a lead, anyone more confident that that?

Bowl then out for under 200 i'll go 70/30. Over 200 i'd struggle to pick 50/50. It's a physcological thing.

All out for 214. Clarke denied a 100 brilliant stuff!!! I'll stand by my word and say it's 50/50 whether we can gain a 1st innings lead or not at this stage. Still a great bowling and fielding performance all round.

Three for me, and two for them.

Great stuff, so we are 5 overs overtime but still 10 overs to be bowled. Those with a TV, will we bat?

11 overs to be bowled, but the commentary is suggesting light is pretty terrible.

Picks on who and when first wicket? I'm thinking Redmond at about 5 overs.

I'm thinking Brett Lee's next over.

Well i was wrong (thankfully). Great day for NZ, one of the best they've had in test cricket for a very long time. Doubt they will keep it up for all five days but i'm enjoying this whole heartedly at the moment.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, loving this at the moment. Good to get through that little session unscathed.

Great day for cricket all round for Wellingtonians anyway! Wellington thrashes our old foes Canterbury. Little Tim Southee baffles the Aussie top order and then Jessie Ryder takes 2 - 7. Bloody brilliant!!! Lets hope the luck rubs off on the nix and we can put out a top draw performance on sunday./

First hour today is one of the most important hours of test cricket New Zealand will play in a long long time. If we lose three or four in that first hour I fear we will get routed but if we can hold on and only lose one and at a push two we will be in a good possy which will give massive amounts of confidence to the middle order

The middle order is brittle, I suspect we'll lose wickets consistently, but we need someone to stick around and hopefully grit out a lead with some runs from the lower order.

But in reality we could be rolled out for 120.

could go either way, if Redmaon and How can put together a solid partnership then Ryder and taylor can free themselves up and do some damage, 200 is not that big, especially if your top 4/5 score 180+.

Or, more likely, play really dumb shots and get out for 4 an 7 respectively.

I predicted Redmond wouldn't get 25 runs in the two test series.
Apologies but I may have been a little high.

What a complete waste of an opener. We may as well start with 10

I'll take Bell's 146 over a Redmond's consistan low scores anyday

Ryder has had his chance already -
6.4 Lee to Ryder, FOUR, Dropped: Lee gets a bit of extra bounce and Ryder can't resist a poke, the outside edge bobs off the top edge of the bat and Haddin flings himself in front of first slip and spills it and it rolls for four, that would have been a sitter for Hayden

time to make them pay.

Bell has to come back. The one and only opener in the country that can bat for a long long time. Highest run scorer in the country. What the hell is he doing here?

Ryder's got the idea.  We've just got to blaze it today.  And hope for the best really.  Pudding pitches.  I love them.  Great leveller...
