So they need about 3.7 an over with Tendulkar and Gambhir at the crease. 8 wickets left, this one could be close. Though Aussie could ruin it and bowl them out for 100.

Gotta remember though that this isn't a One Day pitch so 3.7 an over is in many ways difficult, expecially when its over more overs than if it was a limited over game

Yeah good point, but Tendulkar is at the crease. And while he may not be what he used to be, but he can still score lots of runs at a fast rate.

Australia 430 & 228/6d
India 360 & 27/2 (12.3 ov)
India require another 272 runs with 8 wickets remaining

Looks like Gambhir is playing anchor (12 off 60) and Tendulkar (16 off 21) is gonna play attack. If they both get centuries then India will win. Its that simple.

What a session for Australia! They have set the pace for the game, an early declaration that gave India a remote chance for a win if they did really well. But India have all but shut themselves out by losing two wickets. Australia can smell victory here, there will be 66 overs of relentless charge in the rest of the day. It's going to be gripping stuff, against quality batsmen who are not well known for saving Tests. Aussies won't be counting them out, they never do when it comes to the likes of Tendulkar and Laxman. We shall not either, we shall just come back and enjoy what promises to be a thrilling climax to this incredible Test match

I think there writing India off far to early.

Definitly, this one is going to be close, Aussie are probably in the box seat but I definitly wouldn't write India off yet.

26.4 Johnson to Gambhir, OUT, cleaned him up! Johnson goes straight through Gambhir with a slightly slower, very full delivery that goes right through him, somehow it skimmed under the bat

Good god the commentators doing this series are shocking! So dull, there are some good names but they just dont talk about anything. What is it that makes the Channel 9 guys so good? Biased but good

Because Channel 9 guys have a personality, while these guys are clinically dead.

English commentators are really good too, quite like Bumble, and enjoy listening to Boycott also.

But they all pale in comparison to Mark Richardson, that man can do no wrong...

The bit that gets me is how they don't talk about anything, i'm sure these guys all have stories to tell but they don't. Fill the dead air people! And the cameraman/producers going girl hunting is funny when you do it every now and then but not at the end of every over!

And I hate how Mark Nicholas is trying to become new Richie Benaud...you'll never make it Mark, just give up now. And stop farken worshipping Australians, you're a Pom for fcuk's sake.

Oh, yeah, and Tendulkar's just been dismissed, first test wicket for Cameron White. Tendulkar must feel so ashamed right now.

Id be ashamed if Cameron White got me out! When you are a spin bowler and the pitch is full of cracks and is a bit up and down why bowl yorkers all the time, Michael Clarke is bowlingly stupidly full. Let the pitch do some of it for you.
I don't mind Mark Nicholas, you can see a lot of Benaud in him and when he has good peole around him can be quite entertaining

So you have the 12th Man CD's as well KP?? LOL

IMHO they are the best comedy to come out of Australia - along with the "The Castle" & "The Dish" & "They're a Weird Mob"

It's against the law not to be able to quote 12 Man skits over here.

Tbh I'm a bit disappointed really. I think captains need to be more adventurous in run chances - I know india lost wicketss but realistically another run an over and you need just a run a ball for 10 overs.Gangsta!2008-10-14 11:23:06

NZ are/were specialists in defensive Cricket. Playing for the draw became an art form.

You're quite right, do the maths and be positive. Even chasing 300 on a final day is gettable - it's a 1 day score (For some cricketing nations) and your're not restricted to 50 overs.

But you're playing on a sponge mat that's usually falling to pieces, not on a rock hard piece of concrete usually used in ODIs and 20/20.

Big difference.

do we know if it was the Bangladeshi umpire or Harper (Aussie) who gave the dodgy decision......if it was the Bagladeshi - I'm calling for an investigation into match fixing!!!

Harper made the decision.

102/2 now, 24 overs gone. How 58, Taylor 35. Good partnership building, could be a decent score with Oram, Flynn and Styris still to come and the batting sides choice power play. How going at an excellent rate as well, almost 100.

Does anyone else think that perhaps in the long run Jacobs spot in the ODI lineup is 5? He likes a bit of time to get into the innings and this would give him it. Styris cant have that long left in him. When he has to come in and go from the first ball from memory he is seldom successful like he is when he has a chance to build an innings. Like Andrew Symonds i guess

I still think Oram is a number 6. Is anyone else getting frustrated by the amount of premeditated sweep shots that we do, pretty dumb shot by Oram with 10 overs to go there really isn't a need to hit to the stands yet.

Flynn just got himself out with a reverse sweep. 201 for 6 43.3 overs

Wheels coming off a little bit. If Taylor bats through we should still get 260. I would have been tempted to pinch hit with Southee and say have a go mate and it doesnt matter at all if it doesnt come off

Taylor gets 3rd ODI century. Excellent innings and partnership with How to get us back up. 250 is a possibility if Taylor really opens up.
