1) Those of us who are lazy don't work during the day can have a sleep in!

2) Those at work during the day can come along and watch the final session. Almost think there should be a one session price though, for those who come in just to watch the evening period.

Vettori is an allrounder ?

Or do you mean an allrounder who is a seamer ?

Who are the seamer allrounders in the country ? Apart from Oram.

Joey Yovich springs to mind. He's not international quality though.

Yeah in terms of a fourth seamer. Not many around. Elliot has said he wants to have more of a role with the ball though.

Fuck this stupid game

I don't know if it was a strategy, but he kept bowling legside in Dunedin. I guess that was only two overs but twice went for 4 byes.

Not great positives. It's just sh*t if there are light restrictions and if it rains it gives less time to make up at the end of the day.

yes but opens up plenty of time to make up lost time in the mornings, like the first test, failing to see where your advantages of starting earlier are? i think its great if the light is fine like it was in the first test

Wrong. The earliest we can start is 11.30. If you didn't know already, the reason for the noon starts is for Pakistan TV. Same as the Indian test series last year.

The Indian games started at 11, and NZC told the Indian tv people to get stuffed. It was the WI tests, at the same time of year, that started at 12. Critical_Lemon2009-12-02 12:04:25

When they first made the move to 12 a few years ago it was with the aim of getting people along after work I seem to remember, I quite like it for that reason (now I work) but agree with what others have said about limiting time to catch up options.

Good to see bond back and looking forward to seeing him play at the basin next week. I'm just really hoping for 5 days of glorious sunshine, although it's not lookiing dood...
Thu 3 Rain. Southeasterlies. Fri 4 Showers with easterlies. Sat 5 Showers with little wind. Sun 6 Fine. Northerlies. Mon 7 Partly cloudy with northerlies.

Thu 3     Showers clearing and fine spells increasing. Southerlies easing.
Fri 4     Fine and cloudy periods. Southerlies dying out and northerlies developing.
Sat 5    Fine and cloudy periods. Northerlies picking up.
Sun 6     Rain. Northwesterlies.
Mon 7    Showers. Northwesterlies.

Slight change but still not looking like 5 days of cricket. Forecast is from metconnect.co.nz. However metvuw.co.nz tends to be more accurate and although it is different, it still predicts rain. Bugger.

Another slight change in www.metconnect.co.nz's forecast for the better. The more reliable www.metvuw.com has also changed for the better, showing almost all 5 days to be fine, except for some possible showers Sunday evening. Now the only concern is drying the outfield. The amount of rain that has been + the amount forecast for tomorrow is huge. Worst case might be a late start on Thursday but we will see.
Still looking like getting a five day game in but there is a good chance of a late start tomorrow. Just a warning.

Overcast, no rain, but cold. Would need a rug or something if one was to head for the Basin. Good wind around so that will help in the drying process. I don't know what they are saying on Radio Sport but if they can get off on time then we will be looking good for the day. Supposedly steadily improving over the day.

Why are the 4 day domestic competition matches also starting today?  Seriously do the scheduling people talk to each other.  No good for trying to get more of a crowd when people are more interested in the test match.

domestic 4 day matches don't get crowds, so they don't worry.  There also is to much international cricket over summer to not have scheduling overlaps.  They tend not to play 50 over and 20/20 stuff on the same day if possible.

Farken, I'm there while its boring and nothing is happening. Then I get home and they've got three wickets. Typical. Nonetheless, small crowd a bit cold but still good to get out and see some test cricket.

Looking good now, 131/5.  Hoping we're batting most or all of tomorrow. Much funner when we're batting imo.

Meanwhile in India, Virender Sehwag is taking Sri Lanka to the cleaners. He is currently on 284 not out (off just 239 balls) including 40 fours and 7 sixes. He is 16 runs away from becoming the first ever test batsmen to score three triple centuries.

Sehwag One of the most destructive batsmen of all time.

Oh, and he scored those 284 runs in just over two sessions of play.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think his problem is that he is so off and on. When he is on he is just a wrecking ball, like when he pumped us in that ODI series this year. When he's off he is pretty terrible, just throws his wicket away a lot.
