I'm just happy we made it to the semi's. But if we could some how win this game I would be stoked

Somehow? SOMEHOW? Good God man, where is your faith in the ability of the worlds most inconsistent cricket team? They care about 3 things.

1) Joining mile high club
2) Winning world cup
3) IPL contracts

Given tomorrow night is a chance to tick off numbers 2 and 3 they'll stand up and dominate. Then they'll loose the final to Indida to keep the home grown IPL hero's in the good books with the locals, and ensure they get access to more $$ by being the only ones to give them a challenge all tournament.

Wrong again.

yep and on that note, we probably won't get past Sri Lanka.

BREAKING NEWS: Sri Lanka have secured their spot in the World Cup Final after reports have confirmed that tonight's Semi-final against New Zealand will be played on a used pitch. These reports strongly suggest this is a result of a request made by Sri Lankan management. This is the sixth time New Zealand have lost in the Semi-Finals at the World Cup. Sri Lanka make their third final in World Cup history and will be looking to add a second title to go with their success in 1996.

Seriously, the only way they can make this a fair game now is let us have a chucker too. Hopefully their's doesn't pass his fitness test.

Fuck this stupid game

Won the toss. Having a bat. Good start.

Three for me, and two for them.

Great toss to win, I think we have a far better chance batting first. Sceptical about the Mackay call-up.

I am guessing that the idea is to try and take a wicket early - their middle order is weak and the earlier we get to it the better. We don't really need a third spinner as we have Styris. Wouldn't be surprised if Mackay gets the new ball and not much else.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but I do understand it.

McCullum gone. I really do think in ODI's he could win more games for us batting 6/7 than he does opening. He is so good at pacing the run chase in the last 15.

Would give a much better balance to the side IMO.aitkenmike2011-03-29 22:29:49

semi final hopes rest now on one of Styris and Taylor getting 80+

For all the irrelevant posts you make on here, this has to take the biscuit.

Anyone still up?

Quick double blow. All too late really. This has to be done 80 runs ago. At least it won't be a mega pasting!

217 - not good enough! valiant effort with the ball but the Sri Lankans should have been under more pressure after our start.

This. The way our lower order collapsed...

Twenty more runs would have completely changed that match. Our collapse at the end was sickening. Top order collapses I can handle, that's par for the course with the Black Caps, but to surrender at the end of the innings like that...Arsenal2011-03-30 08:44:58

To be fair we didn't even expect to make it past the quarters.

And even though they still let us down. I am happy with the boys and well done to them

Shows why Cricket is a great game, essentially that whole game swung in a 5-over period.

The most frustrating dismissal for me was Williamson who looked outstanding playing down the ground then decided to walk across the crease and try and play through square.
Also thought we treated Murali with to much respect in his last two overs. We had the wickets in hand and I thought Jake especially should have gone after him.

was it more dissapointing the mccullum's wicket though, or Taylor's? both were playing well had spent time at the crease and then did stupid things, at least Taylor wasn't trying to slog/sweep
I applaude the boys for getting as far as they did, however i think that this team was possibly our best chance of getting a final and they let me down.

Agree 100%. Among other brain fades, Williamson's was the most disappointing for me. I think as well as Oram, Nathan and Brendan MacCullum should and could have done better with their time at the crease.

We were about 30 runs short last night - thought 250 was well achievable with 10 overs to go, but we simply collpased. Agree that Williamson dismissal was both key and most gutting to take, he'd played so well and then practically gave it away.

However, if someone had told me we'd go further in this World Cup than both Aussie and Saffas, and would in fact be the best performed non-subcontinent team over there, I'd have laughed like I'd never laughed before.
