Oram must have some dodgy pics of Wrighty's missus.

What a joke.

If he doesn't break down he is a very good bowler in the middle of the innings. If he does break down we bring someone else over. Don't see the big deal here. Can't see him batting above Franklin, maybe even behind Vetorri.

Vetorri finally takes a wicket after a full day of bowling. To little to late though likely.

Very impressed with Martin today, but Vetorri has been really dissapointing. 1 wicket as the lead spinner on the last day is just not good enough.

Vettori stands down as captain.

Can't blame him.... his record is dreadful but I don't thank that is actually his fault.

His captaincy isn't great, but he said when he took over that he would only do it to the next WC.

Totally this. Vettori is a great limited overs bowler, but I can't remember too many times (if ever) where he has ran through an opposition on the last day.
Then again, I guess NZ hasn't had one of those for quite some time.

I reckon on the sub-continent Bangladesh will sneak an upset.  Finding the game will be tricky but money to be made.

Good point that. There's the odd upset at the WC but will be hard to pick it. Bangladesh v West Indies, Dhaka, March 4 is my pick.

Id take southee at 20! A fast bowler most likely to get injured, thoughts is the youngest.

Perhaps Ryder is a sure thing, only takes 1 night out on the piss.

Southee's injury track record is what has him out at $20. Ryder has a history of injuries. Drinking piss was not considered for any of these odds.

Is the game on between the firebirds and the stags today? Anyone going?

Not sure, but I took it to mean that you could get an earlier start swapping the ground over for fooball, but I could be wrong.

Aitkenmike has hit it right on the money. I'm sure as a groundsman you'd prefer a 50 over stunner with 320ish runs.

Yeah, nah would much rather a cracking, high scoring game of cricket with a shorter turn around. I got what you meant though.

Wouldn't you prefer a pitch that has something in it for bowlers too? Instead of a road constitutive to a 700+ run fest.

Three for me, and two for them.

Permalink Permalink

I think when a low score is posted, the commentators wrongly say it's the pitch every time. Seemed to me more a combination of great bowling and poor batting.

Is funny when they always change their mind about a pitch too. They do this especially in test matches. A side can be 100/0,and the pitch is a road, the groundsman shouldve put more in it for the bowler, suddenly it's 150/7,and it's too green with too much seam movement - we would like pitches to get us a result on the 5th day.

They have no idea,it's annoying.

Yeah well of course. I didn't exactly say I'd rather it be a road but we've been frustrated with a lot of low scores at Westpac. It would be nice to see some runs scored and the crowd get their moneys worth for once. It doesn't help when the batsmen get themselves out - sometimes there isn't much need to give the bowlers assistance in ODI's. But I guess that's why you like test cricket over other forms.

but the black caps didn't find it that hard to bat on as the score suggests. So some of these people saying it is seaming to much could be wrong we bowled good line and good length on a pitch with a bit in it
