So guess I was wrong, Jesse has taken an indefinite break from cricket. Fair enough though, maybe the best way to sort himself out.

It must be hard for a guy with his upbringing to feel like the whole of NZ hates him. Obviously he hasn't helped himself at times, but I struggle to understand what he has done to cause the level of venom that I hear against/about him.

At the same time he has a cult following and people that love him because he is drunk and portly (I have to admit I include myself in this group) so he's getting conflicting messages. People tell him to lose weight, stop drinking, and generally clean up his act, but then another bunch of people openly cheer his off-field exploits. It must be tough to know how to act in that situation.

I hope he plays for NZ again soon, not only because he's  great entertainment on the field but he's too talented for NZ to leave behind

So, I'll put my neck on the line and say we'll be chasing over 400.

Pray for rain. For now I'd like to see a part-timer given the ball for an over to try and break the partnership. Maybe Williamson or Nicol

Gaaaaaa, how many times in the past four or five years have we blown chances like yesterday! Get ourselves into a good position and then fail to take advantage of it.

I think it is the batting that cost us. I don't think there has been a lot wrong with the bowling today, I just don't think you get get out quality players like Smith, Amla, Kallis and de Villiers all or mostly out cheaply 2 innings in a row.

I'm immune to it by now, so don't get angsty about it. Just bemused I guess.

And agree with Mike, the batting let us down badly yesterday. We were in a position to get a 100+ run lead, and quite literally threw it away.

I'm almost over caring about how we manage to stuff up good changes like we had yestredy, SA were always going to bat well second innings. At this rate we'l be chasing 350+ over two days and be all out before day 5

He gave Rudulph LBW off Bracewell. After 30 seconds of chatting to Kallis, Rudulph finally decided to challenge it. It hit him creasebound, dead in front of all 3 stumps, but it turned out it marginally pitched outside leg. Dar looked like he couldn't believe it. Looked dead set out live, and even on replay without the pitch map.

Nice to see some good old fashioned hostile fast-bowling! Shame its against us. Would rather Windies vs Eng or Aus. Like this

Yeah I guess that's what you get for not having a grill on your helmet. Never really understood that myself.

Also, Rob Nicol might be new to the Black Caps but he sure knows how to get out like one - throw your wicket away just when you look like you are getting set by playing a shot a 13 year old would be embarrassed about

Well this rain sucks. Its gone from a match that we can (only possibly and very unlikely) win, to one that, if we do play, we can only lose (or draw). If we got through to lunch only losing 1 wicket at the most it would have been a really exciting day.aitkenmike2012-03-11 10:03:58

I at least wanted to see if Baz and/or Ross could get a century against a top quality attack. Maybe there will be a few hours of play for that to happen

So what do people think of the Cairns corruption trial? Andrew Hall, who replaced him as captain in the ICL franchise, says Cairnsy might have been setup. Modi refuses to testify. It all smells very fishy, but maybe that's just because I can't bring myself to think of Cairns as a matchfixer

Haven't seen any coverage but Tom Tamati reckons they won't get on today. This is what happens when test matches are scheduled in march.
