She got cained for speaking her opinion. I noted most of the hostile remarks were from a few of the people she described. Possibly guilt feelings for allowing themselvesto go? Smalley is a very good journalist and I listen to her my way to  work when on earlies.

Would you guys be as happy about it if she was referring to NZ men as hippos or beached whales? Look at the fever zone pics after 80 mins and it's not exactly an advertisement for men's health.

I don't have any sympathy for her at all.

I actually wouldn't give a sh*t.

In fact Dewey used to make remarks when commentating (when we used to actually be ahead after 80mins at home) and I never started crying about it.

Yeah I don't think she is sorry for what she said because that's obviously her held belief. She is sorry she got caught that's all.

I could care less of her opinion because.... well.... who is she? She is just a nobody that reads the news same as a nobody that abuses me from his truck same as a nobody that flies a plane. If they mean nothing to you, then you really should not care.

What a vomit inducing apology. 72kg is hardly huge and she needs to shut up. Even on the deeply flawed BMI it only puts women in a slightly overweight class, which if a few recent studies suggest that having a bit of a belly actually is quite protective.

For me I find that having a bit of a belly is quite protective of me actually having a run.

As a result I will be struggling tomorrow morning as I try to keep up with year 10 lads hoofing the ball, while simultaneously trying to recite the LOTG particularly around offsides and infringements.

I'm with you on this one.

I'm all good that she has an opinion and it does not bother me what she thinks but to imply that is just moronic.

Feeling smugly superior to the poster on the Guardian site that the Star Trek reboot was insulting to "Sci-Fi' by pointing out that most Science Fiction writers despise the term "Sci-Fi" as it was used by people with no understanding of the genre.

So what's the background to all this Surge?

Bronchiectasis, which means you're lungs don't work very effectively (Google if you want the gory details), which was brought on (in my case) by a munted respiratory system at birth and a lifetime of infections/bronchitis/pneumonia etc. And no, I've never smoked lol..

Luckily for me it was much more prevalent in my left lung than the right (which is reasonably clear) so they removed the lower (of two) lobes five years ago which helped but after a few years the remaining lobe turned to mud (which wasn't unexpected) so they took that out too.
My lung capacity has reduced less than five percent (which underlines how munted it was) and have just started back at the gym this week for the first time in years and quite loving it... very early days but so far so good :-)

Thanks LG... yeah I guess - my attitude towards it has been a little dismissive cos it's kinda normal for me (I know that's weird lol) but yes, it was major - had one very major and unexpected bump to navigate post surgery (now that shit was scary) but back on track and doing well... things are almost back to normal :-)

Firing a +2 Over Par round off the Championship tees at Hastings GC yesterday.

It coincided with the start of my Club Championships title defence too. Won my match 8 & 7!!!

Happy Days!

Is there any chance in the future to have a transplant or did that disappear when they removed the lung and didn't replace it at the same time? I dont know these things so asking. Glad you're still with us though.

Ask anything you like LG... transplant has never been mentioned as my lungs aren't buggered enough - heaps of people function (including some sportsmen - Kelly Evernden, Danny "Haka" Morrison; and the Pope) perfectly well on one, and my right one thankfully isn't too buggered. The life expectancy for lung transplants isn't too flash yet (comparatively) but it is rapidly improving so who knows what the future holds. Nothing on the radar though thankfully :-)
