We have worked with the various Councils regarding playing senior football this weekend. Most grass pitches are closed or heavily restricted for Saturday and Sunday, and Wakefield 1 (artificial) is closed due to a huge tree that has blown over on the west end. In addition, travelling around the city is still precarious and we appreciate that it’s been an eventful 24 hours for most people, and many families and businesses are facing a massive clean-up over the next few days.
We will be going ahead with games in:
· Lotto Men’s and Women’s Central League
· Men’s and Women’s Premier League
· U17s Div A & B. (Please note, U17s have no spare weekends for “catch up” games due to breaks for school holidays, a College Sport event, and the Ivan England tournament at the end of the season which is why their games are going ahead.)
However, we have made some significant time changes for many teams in these divisions to get these games played. A summary of the times and venues of the games currently going ahead is below, with one venue still to be confirmed. However, please note we will be reassessing the situation with the games currently scheduled to go ahead, at 4pm this afternoon and again tomorrow morning if necessary.
This means the following divisions are cancelled this weekend (including games that have been drawn on artificial turf; Wakefield 1 & 2, Wellington College, Te Whaea, Petone Memorial & Maidstone):
· Capital 1 – 15 (both Saturday & Sunday)
· Masters 1 – 5
· Horo/Kapiti men’s leagues
· Wairarapa men’s leagues
· Women’s 1 – 3
Monday and Tuesday nights fixtures will be reassessed on Monday lunchtime.
