was a great and exciting game to watch,

ground was in good condition, the weather was fine, good football being played but the referee had no control over the game. he should of asked to speak to both captains at some stage to say settle the players down, the straight red card for that challenge was very harsh but believe he was already on a yellow card so a 2nd yellow would of sent him off any way but the first yellow was undeserved to say the most.

will be an interesting contest of football over the next four weeks with all teams so close on points

That is a bummer. Right at the same time as pre-season game pre-drinks. If you still want to borrow our nets and flags let me know, at least it will save someone a drive back to Karori.

what is this double header business anyway? does everyone on 13 games play one at some stage or what?

Double header coming up for Valley. Why's that you ask?
Well ref is 50/50 on field condition (a complete joke after playing last 2 weeks, and game at Karori park at start of year!).

Waterside's coach then has a whinge that his mostly U-19 team boys safety is at risk in the conditions, and they have another came tomorrow (wahhhh). So the ref cans it. A complete joke

we lost 2-1 to North Welly in the mud. They had comfortably the better of the 1st half and were up 2-0 at the break. We put them under a fair amount of the pressure in the second, got one back, but couldnt quite grab an equaliser. Alex Moore is destroyed! by the middle of the second half it was absolutely horrendous down the middle and around the goal box.

What a complete shambles!

Karori now will have to play what... two double header weekends!?
Permalink Permalink

yes, an absolute shambles, surely someone involved knew what condition that pitch was that, yet another lot of wasted petrol driving from the hutt

Nobody has posted on our lonely Cap 1 thread for ages, so ...

Naenae pretty much has the league wrapped up. Automatic promotion in the bag (save absolute blow out) and much deserved too (their GD is miles better than anyone elses). If they get their Scousers back next year they will be a more than handy side in CPL.

Second is still a tight contest. While North Welly have the points in the bag they have a much tougher run home than Olympic reserves. North Welly still have Naenae to play and maybe Stokes Valley, who are pretty random but good on their day. Olympic has played all the top few sides twice and will also have the luxury of dropping players down from 1st team. Further, while NW are a good, well organised, gutsy side, they dont score a lot of goals and they could quite conceivably drop points against any side. THus far they have got tremendous value for their goals. They havent wasted many.

BNU still has remote chance of picking up second, but it would require both North Welly and Olympic too fall over - and we would need to win, win, win.

Much may depend on at what point North Welly end up playing Naenae. If they have to play them in next couple of weeks whle the league is yet in the bag, and while all the scousers are still on deck, they will struggle and leave door open for olympic. if that game gets pushed to the end of the season, it may be a very different affair.

My money is on Naenae to go up automatically, and Olympic Reserves to finish second but lose a play off against Lower Hutt's "Reserves".

I agree with that, no way that Naenae should lose and Olympic have recovered well after their poor start.

I have a question though. With Capital Soccer talking about forcing through the games which are crucial for promotion/relegation where does this leave capital one.? Its tight at both the top and bottom that it could change so much within a week of games

I guess you could see games like the Naenae vs Nth Wgtn match being played as soon as possible to ensure that it is completed. Which might sit well Olympic.

I agree.

At the top, every game that Olympic, North Welly and even BNU plays is critical bc there are three points at stake. Each of those teams needs to keep winning to secure second. So, as far as Im concerned, even BNU versus Wellington United is still v impt as long as BNU can still potentially finish 2nd.

Does the 2nd to bottom team have to play off for relegation? if so, then there are several teams who could finish in that spot - which means there are a whole bunch of other matches also important and will have a bearing on promotion/relegation.

From what I understand there is a playoff although last year nobody went down because of Petone winning promotion to Central League?

Hey hey, lets not toss the Valley outta here yet. We are still to play BNU and Olympic, both of who if we beat... and when we win our other games against Varsity and Karori. Means we could very well be right up there.. of course then North Welly then do have to drop points, of which we have managed to do so about 4 weeks ago, with a 1 all draw.

Very interesting

Its quite frustrating for us, obviously we'd like to wrap things up as soon as possible and I believe that if we retain players that we will do very well in CPL next year :)

Ok, I went back to the points table to see whether id done the mighty valley an injustice in omitting them from the list of contenders for second spot.

hmmm. the SV are a pretty dangerous side, and have every chance of beating us this weekend, but still ...

you are on 20 points, 3 below us, with an awful goal diff - and remember i think our chance of finishing second is now remote!

2nd is down to NW, olympic and, only if we got bloody lucky, BNU.

(No doubt ill probably pay for this post at Delaney on Saturday)

Right - only two games this weekend then ...

Petone v Olympic
Naenae v North Welly

Let's hope Naenae and Petone win. That will put the mighty BNU back in the race for second.

It would also give Naenae the league, allowing them to send their Scousers home so we dont to have to play them.

only if the ref plays the game -" Naenae  Park " holds the water really well. If that ground is open, every other pitch in the Hutt Valley should be also be open for 1 game.   Heavy rain forcast for Saturday afternoon will make it very interesting.

reasonable chance. ill let you know how its looking tomorrow.

im expecting the Scousers to mangle NW's goal diff and break a couple of legs. if they could take care of the pom in the midfield for NW or the European guy who plays at the back, that would throw the run home into strife.

mind you, its all probably irrelevant, as whoever finishes 2nd will probably only earn themselves a play off with Lower Hutt or Wests first team.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

VERY big ups to Naenae. Fully deserved. Congrats. Definitely best side in the league. Goal diff tells a story. Sounds line North Welly gave them a run today though and good on them for that.

urrrggggggggghhhh, I feel terrible hahaha but definitely worth it, our club room is in a hell of a state we messed it up pretty bad lol.

thanks to north welly for a good game, to be completely honest though I thought their first two goals were relatively soft and should of been dealt with but thats the nature of the game at the end of the day.

jamie henders set a new capital 1 scoring record, 25 or 26 goals in a season.

thanks for everyones support and thank you to everyone that came and watched

Well done Scouser.  I still reckon you went down too easily in the game against us (BNU).....but to get up and knock those free-kicks in was quality.
