Uni-cycles 5 or 6 - Petone 1. I pulled muscles in the right hand side of my back during the warmup, fairly uncomfortable and impossible to run. Drank it all away at mine and my sisters birthday party, sadly its sore again since I sobered up.

haha 2-0 to eastbourne. we hit the bar a few times, but overall played pretty badly. Eastbourne deserved to win

usual first game teething problems, we played without a ref.
But a good game overall

Bring on next week -  and better weather!

No Ref!!!

Nrth Wgtn better get sorted.
We all know the rules of capital 14, home team supplies ref or they have to shout the whole of the opposition team after the game.

Each side reffed a half in our game.

All teams in the lower divisions struggle around the ref issue. We have to supply our own and most teams dont have a knowledgeable supporter/club official for this job. Mostly it is done by subs or injured players with a mixed knowledge of the games laws!

Opinions differ, but we have always thought it best to take a half each if possible. At times one side has too few players to be able to meet that need.

I am a former class one ref so if I am playing I try to be sporting and help the ref at the same time! (Yes I know I will be biased but I try hard not to be!)

Most teams at this level can be trusted on this - for example on Sat our ref gave a penalty against us and the Sealads refs in the second half were very fair.

Orpewise, everytime we play you guys we get a penalty. Usally your centre back with a hand ball. Ever tried him out in goal?

Hello All

Just thought id congratulate the Sealads for the spirit with which they must play their football - its a credit to both Karori and the Sealords family. Thank you also to Orpewise for commenting as such. Having spoken with the boys on sat night i know they had a great game against you as well and thoroughly enjoyed their inaugral game in Capital football (despite the weather) which fits with our memory of playing you in 06! Your a credit to Capital footballs social football teams!

Anyway good luck to all for the rest of the season

Thanks to the Sealords for the comments. They are appreciated.

Nightz we actually may have a real goalkeeper this time. Normally we play the unluckiest player at paper scissors rock. This year we have spare goalkeepers at the club and they are actually allowing one of them to play for us.

The handballer is our captain Woz... ..he has a past life as a college basketball player and old habits die hard. He gave away four penalties like that last season!

Thats not the north wellington in 14b we bet 11-0 is it?

Wellington Utd. Universale can only dream of promotion up to the party that would be 14a. fingers crossed, and hope to see you then!

slightly concerning though, is the prospect of playing the Upper Hutt Army this weekend,,,

yeah it is, and next time, assuming we start with 11, we'll try keep you lot in single digits.
is 14a above us or the same level as us? i.e say the top team from A and B get put up to 13 or do we get promoted up into 14a

not too sure.. my mates stokes valley team that has just gone up to 12 had a split like that last year and after 7 games or so the divisions were changed around and was a free for all from there. so who ever are top of 14a go up to 13..

maybe,,

14a and 14b are equal. We play one round then the two divisions are reconstituted...top four from a join top 4 from b and form the new div 14. The bottom teams form new div 15. So promotion will be from the reconstituted div. All clear!!?

one all draw with the sealords, both teams fell apart in the second half could have gone either way really.

so i suppose draw is a fair result.

Nice to play in some sun though

Martians put 6 past Porirua Mana.
Porirua arent really that bad, just need to work on their passing and the keeper needs to practice those goal kicks.

3-3 in the SV and University game. We had a 3-1 lead when the SV guys hit us twice in quick succession, pretty much killed it for us.

Slayers went down 7-1 to Eastbourne, 5-0 at half time so the team was pleased with the 2-1 scoreline for the 2nd half. Eastbourne had too much pace and skill for us and seem to have a good mix of experience and youth to see them go well.

And nightz what were you thinking when posting about practice in div 14

Nightz forgot to mention that we hit the bar twice and his keeper (must have been on jungle juice or something) made two fantastic saves! PC Mana can never score at memorial Park!!

Erics dodgy knee did pose a few problems. I suppose we are heading for last place again but wait a couple of the new teams in 14b are also getting hammered (North Wellington B) so there is hope......

Practice!!!!     ..it takes me four days to recover from the saturday game....

Didnt see those shots hit the bar. My eyes go all fuzzy after making a run up front and I'm lucky to see over half way let alone make it back there before the next attacking move.

Yeah our keeper (frustr8striker) kept us in it at critical times, it was a close game till halftime.

Roger that!

Universale had another impressive victory, this time over the Upper Hutt Army 8-0, they really were not the challenge we were expecting. Left them wishing they were in Iraq, not Melrose!

Universale fun fact of the week: After a horrible handball in the box (their defender caught the ball on the line, after I headed back post) our goalkeeper stepped up to slot home the penalty, taking him to one goal scored, none conceeded after two rounds. Outstanding!

his CB had a better game then him in goal, making the one save of the game! thats probably a lie, but i do not recall him playing to well, although he was left exposed for 90mins so not much he could do in that situation..

Cheers, he plays outfield for my Sunday league side.  If I don't go to Auckland on Sunday I can tell him he was rubbish.

haha ok. the guy who caught the ball on the line was actually their 2nd keeper, so may have been him too. felt sorry for the keeper though, there were a few instances where the defence was beaten 30-40 yards out and would just give up leaving 2 strikers onto the desperate goalie..

Please promote us someone...

Yes early results suggest the strongest new teams are in 14b with 14a shaping up more equal. Eastbourne have made a good start in 14a so will be interesting to watch. Universale will have to complete another five games before the expected reconstitution.

If they win all of them that is a target worth setting!?

PC Mana will be stronger once our holidaying uni boys return from getting their dirty washing done by their mothers....the agony of team management....

University 5-4 Eastbourne. 0-3 or 1-3 at one stage I think, definitely 2-3 to Eastbourne at half time though.

hope this isn't too late. don't let them ref. one or two good players, namely there number 22 (if he still wears the same shirt) i think the defence is old and slow, you shouldn't have a problem getting round them as with the keeper. mostly construct their plays off the number 22. that may be helpful to you not sure. should be pretty even between you two. played waterside fever, they are about par with us, we had our chances didn't take them but playing better as a team so thats promising.

was that a bit of a piss take there feverish? I played that game didn't really think the waterside was as good as they said they were in that report.

and the "controversial" incident where we got our goal, if the ref had called the offside straight away there wouldn't have been a problem, fact was he took much advice from the karori team, the cogs turned slowly in his head and agreed with them an age in footballing time later. and how come he didn't continue refing that half? wasn't that he was useless or had to rely on the wharfies to make his decisions for him?

i'm not bitter. i swears
