Great hijacking of this thread 14b.. I had almost mustered up the courage to start a new one for us, but this will do. Talking about match reports, someone different from our team does it each week and last weekends one was a beaut! Check this out: (if you have the time, its lengthy)

http://www.wuafc.wellington.net.nz/MMatchReportsLatest.html

scroll down, near the bottom - "14 - Universale"

p.s oh, and thanks for the heads up Christo, play upper hutt on saturday..

Eastbourne 10 Mana 1. At least we scored. Although with my own goal and seven goalkeeper errors I think we contributed more to the game than the opposition!!

Eastbourne probably could not believe their luck in playing a team who are so generous in defence.

Their team is a strange mix of very young players (ex Juniors) and re treads from the Masters team! But it seems to work.

they only had nine players though so  it wasn't exactly fair. It would have been a close game if they were full strength

I thought we only had 8 but I'm probably wrong. I was pretty much exhausted at the end, could barely walk let alone run. Was still good fun, especially the banter towards the end. Critical_Lemon2008-04-27 11:47:46

Karori 7 Slayers 1. Too young, too fast and not the best performance by us either resulted in a pretty one sided match.
4-0 at half time but we kept on trying and it paid off with a well deserved goal from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game (last goal wins in div 14 aint it  ).

I think we have the unicycles next week, hopefully they turn up with 8 players again so we might have a chance

The team has also joined the 21st century and created our own website www.slayers.co.nz  be sure to check it out and let us know what you think.

Great game against the Slayers. Clearly a good team in their day. Loved the website by the way, particularly the match report which mentioned my sweet team management folder. Essential to ensuring things run smoothly on match day. Who got the broken nose???

Stokes Valley at Delaney next week. should be a lot of fun.

Sea-what!!! Sealords!!!!

I think the broken nose comment is referring to one of your players (striker?) who got a bloodied nose after being hit in the face with the ball.

great hard fought win for Universale on saturday vs our upper hutt rivals. scored early and managed to hold onto a one nil against an eager upper hutt team to take first place 3pts clear. gotta love the 4-6-0 formation..

Hahahahaha that's hilarious.

We are on the improve ;)

Nice game though, we were just out run by a younger fitter side. The half time Tui helped for about 10 minutes :)

Excellent grounds too (apart from the cricket pitch area) probably the pick of the grounds we play on, you can actually slide and not hit the gravel hiding under the coating of mud.

#1 and #2 aren't bad, but the higher the numbers go the shorter they get.  #3 is wonky, but I'm sure #5 is worse... and the goals on 5 are VERY low.

We welcome the Cougars for their first ever visit to Waihora. Should be a good game, we have some of our Uni boys back this week so the thrashings should be over as we are likely to actually have a full team for a change.

We apologise to the Cougars about the appalling changing facilities at Waihora...we are working on the Council for an upgrade.

...and don't assume the pitch softness on the side away from the hill is the same as the side by the bank.  Chances are it will be like concrete on one side and a swamp on the other.

We won, we won, we won! 1-0 Mana versus the Cougars. Only the second win in the teams history and our first ever clean sheet. Well done Mana boys.

A close and fast game with lots of pace on show. Not much goalmouth   action either end, mostly a midfield battle. Tense last five minutes as Cougars pressed for an equaliser and Mana hung on.

Pitch not too bad despite all the rain.

Next week our annual battle with the Slayers.....cant wait!

What happened with the 19 goal game??!!

Another typical Slayer performance today. Let the opposition skipaway to a huge lead (6-0) at half time before the magical brown ale at half time leads to a close fought second half, 2-2.
Well done Unicycles the game was played in good spirit.

Looking forward to playing at our 'real' home ground of Harcourt next week against our cellar dwelling friends Porirua Mana. We are still hurting from the last time we played you guys on our hallowed turf.

Also big congrats to our 'Big Guy' for becoming a father overnight, although why he couldn't play the game we don't understand....... I feel sorry for the woman ;o)

yea I feel sorry for Island Bay, they have conceded 15 vs universale, an now 19 vs upper hutt. it's outrageous.. not sure on the details of the match but would like to hear if anyone can comment?

Universale had their second 1-0 win in two weeks, quite nice to grind out a result like that - instead of an 8-0 win or something. makes it much more intense. My whole team went to a 21st on friday night, and as it was pouring down we convinced ourselves the games would not be on so drunkingly stumbled home at 6am for bed to received a message 4 hours later that the game was on. Talk about rough..

It was a good game, I thought we were going to get an equalizer in the last ten or so minutes. I don't know how you guys are below us in the table though. You guys have been by far the hardest team we have played thus far!

cheers for a fun cold saturday arvo

Thanks Alaistair. That was the first time we have had our full team available. the heavy defeats in recent games have been with us playing short and/.or without our best players. Yesterday was more like it. I am sure we would have beaten some of the teams we have played if we could have fielded the full team.

Yes the last 10 was very frenetic!!

Yes as NZgooner says, saturadys game was tough for Universale and well won.
Would say that we should have made more of our oppurtunites but the very windy conditions made that last pass or cross very difficult...should have changed our tactics to short passing through the middle rather than taking it down the wings where it would be frittied away in the wind in the final ball...
Well played by Waterside however and they were oh so lucky not to score at least one goal due to some finishing that seemed beyone the laws of physics :P
Universale will be comnig back to their scoring ways soon : )
And geez yes Islad bay must be hurting...
Anyone avail to comment?

Unless the weather gets us of course!

Outrage! Now I know why the Slayers did not respond to my last post....as well as secretly arranging with Capital Football to have the game cancelled due to alleged "weather conditions" they have been abusing Porirua City Mana on their secret website. (Secret coz only three people not already in their team have ever seen it!).

How dare the Slayers equate the proud Porirua City Mana with the Petone Martians IN THE SAME SENTENCE!!! Mana;s level of incompetence is in no way equal to that of the Martians....have the Martians ever finished bottom of the League?! NO NEVER!!! I demand some kind of correction or apology (or goals....).
