Looks as though there are not to many more scenarios for NzPower to contemplate now just

Wellington united to win the league
Wellington united to win the league and
Wellington united to win the league!

wow you're real good at maths, with one game to go. All I did was trying to get some clarity. It's funny how some people only show up on here when their team wins. I.e. people with 28 posts to their name.

well done to you guys, though lucky enough to snatch a draw at Kelburn Park, but I guess that's football.
Good luck for next year in Capital 1.

Cheers Giuliano.

Really good natured game as you said, enjoyable to be part of.

Good news that your man who took the knock wasnt too bad.

We are still in some relegation trouble so need the 3 points tomorrow night  v Karori. Crucial game for us!!!!

All the best for the rest of the season mate

Interesting replies from sides such as the stragglers... Tawa B, Gossies... is there a hint of jealousy there. The quality rises to the top as the also rans fight out the Minor placings.

You guys are just poor losers. You've spent all season banging on about  teams being stacked with players from above, and the title has been won with a round to go by a team of 4 +40 years olds and 12 odd 20 years olds. Not once has the club moved a player down from the 1sts of even the 2nds to help them out, not once. They haven't needed help. The team very much enjoyed themselves last night and club management are very very pleased for them. So what if they can't get promoted - they have done something you guys from Tawa, University and Stop Out couldn't manage and weren't good enough to do. Take it on the chin and have another crack next year.

Would just like to say that the views above are not the views of the Uni 1sts. I feel we were quite gracious on Saturday and im sure that the Welly Utd boys will back that up. Well done on winning the grade, we have to win on Saturday to ensure that playoff spot. Draws have been the killer for us, only lost two games so far but dropped too many points in draws. Yesterday was the killer, should  have gone 2 nil up but a glaring miss and then we conced an ugly goal.

Looking forward to Saturday though, hopefully we can live to fight another week.

hoddle, rightstr,
there's no jealousy at all in the reply. it was your good friend from Utd who was being a smart arse, period.
No one has ever said anything bad about wgtn Utd so his call about the scenarios left was untimely and uncalled for.

And as for the strUgglers need I remind you that:
a) the Gossies were on top for half the season
b) the Gossies beat Utd when we played them

I even congratulated utd on their win and how could I be jealous when our first team is, God willing, one game away from a play-off for Capital 1?

As I said the quality rises to the top, it`s a marathon, not a sprint, congrats on being top early in the season and beating us... but no prizes for that in April:)

So some people can't take a joke and are poor winners.....

To right though, the best team won the league.  You were the only side to give us (Tawa B) a good hiding and think you were generally good bunch of lads (although not so sure now after some of the cocky comments on here!).

Congratulations to Wellington United anyway.  Well deserved.

I apolgise for any offence howvever some facts about our 3rd team needed to be put out there, which I did. Give our guys some credit. On a personal note I hope the University side can get promoted because having 2 sides in capital 2 must be a nightmare for the administrators. In any club you need a 1st team who have the best players and a 2nd team with the rest - the best way to achieve this is to have the 1st team in a higher grade than the 2nds. Good luck with the playoffs.

Cocky comments... I wouldn`t say that, just stating the facts, no exaggerations.

As for the comment, just coming on here after winning a Title and having minimal posts... well it`s been interesting sitting back and seeing some of the posts about us... One that stood out recently..`I have it on good authority that Wgtn United aren`t interested in winning the league`.. pretty secure authority that was:)

Anyway, it has been a very competitive league and we know that there are some quality sides in this league, and yes we will look forward to next season with the challenge of defending our Title.
As for promotion that was out of our hands, we set our goal of winning the Championship, and were relying on the Domino effect of our 1sts and 2nds winning promotion... not to be though.

Wellington Utd winning Capital 2 should never be allowed.
Unless you can get promoted there is of course no point in even competing, why would you.
Winning a league is of no importance at all.
Only thing important is getting promoted, even if it is from 2nd or 3rd place in the league.

I have heard that Wellington Utd are dropping down to Cap 3 next year just so they can  experience the huge joy of being promoted, which is of course way more satisfying than winning a league title will ever be.

Rather come 3rd and get promoted......mmmmmmmm ???

Oh dear... Shouty Sam, are you from the PC playing under 9 Netball sides where its about competing, not winning leagues.
Do you think Chelsea or Man U win leagues to get promoted... I think not, it`s all about winning championships. Maybe tell Ricki, don`t worry about winning the A league... there`s no point lads you can`t get promoted.

Shouty Sam, thanks for your contribution, now off you go back to junior netball.

anyhow...some huge games this weekend and even tonight....

marist v karori
uni v olympic
tawa a v karori
tawa b v stop out
upper hutt v marist

whats everyones predictions, whos going to pick up that elusive play off game and more importantly (ha) whos getting relegated with karori

I think Tawa A will do Karori. Have the Tawa 1st team finished their season yet? If not you would expect Tawa to drop a couple of players in preparation for a possible playoff game. Not too sure what to expect from Olympic, havent played them since week 2 of the season and they were tough then.

Gossies vs Wellington United should be a good game. Gossies are on of the two teams to beat Utd this year and will be up for the game. Utd may not be as motivated as the league is sewn up, but then again may want to top their season of with a final win.

Yeah I think a number of utd players will be struggling to sober up after Saturday night to play that game. Apologizes to NZpower if he took offense at what I said maybe I got a bit carried away with the victory. The uni game was tight I almost cringed when I turned up the park to see a game was being played at 1230 to ruck the pitch up some more. The game was essentially a final and i think both teams would have both preffered to play on Te Whea for it but not to be.

Yeah Uni deffinatley had the majority of the chances but unfortunatley for them they were up against our fine english import who is the best goal keeper in the league who I am sure even Uni would admit pulled off a string of first class saves and has done all season long.

Interestingly enough Uni complained about not having a striker yet they had matt rowe on the bench who is a fine player and only came on for the last couple of minutes maybe injured? Didn't seem like it though. Interesting too that our leading striker with 12 goals this season so far was told he wasn't good enough for the Uni gosses a couple of seasons ago a long with a number of our players including our influential center mid who for me is the best in the league hands down (except maybe for tawa steve romjin and stop outs reegan steel but i wouldnt class them as cap 2 players). Those two players have been crucial to our success this season along with several other rejects from uni who came back to haunt uni yesterday and throughout the season.

It is disappointing we can't go up but thats football i suppose. Uni Tawa and Stop Out are all good enough to play in Capital 1 and i hope atleast one of them gets the chance too and I will turn up to that promo/relegation game cheering the cap 2 team on. Stop Out are out of the running now but the team we played which we somehow managed to draw with 0-0 with out in the hutt was the best team we have played all season and would make a fine cap1 team.

So best of luck to Uni or Tawa, I really hope one of you get promoted (or both in a perfect world). I would probably prefer to see uni get it though because not only have they been a fine team, but having both your top teams in cap2 is not good for your club and because we always seem to struggle against uni! So hopefully a rule changed may happen in the future and soon we can play each other in cap1 that would be fantastic.

Not so much we didn't have a striker but more a glaring miss from our striker who is one of the better finishers around. You wouldn't normally expect him to miss a chance like that. Matty Rowe is a fine player and im sure he will be given a chance this Saturday.

Your keeper is very good, certainly had the most work out of the two of us and he was more than up to the task.

Once again congratulations, your consitency was the difference between you guys and the other top teams in the grade.

no offense taken mate. The table shows it: you deserve to be on top. Period. At the end of the day this has been one of the tightest leagues I've ever taken part in, and it's been fun. Lots of teams punched above their weight and that's probably why no one could really make a serious move at 1st spot until you guys started on that impressive string of positive results.

In regards to some of your players deemed not good enough for Uni, it's been discussed earlier. The old coach had his ways and a few people were disappointed, that's for sure. But as I've said before, if you don't show up to pre-season and put your faith in a 60min long trial, then there's always the chance you'll be overlooked.

I too think that a few players from this league could easily play at least cap 1. Quite a few of the SO youngsters, some of the Tawa players (not sure if some were first teamers though, but they were good), a couple of the Marist lads and some of you guys could easily perform there. I am purposely leaving Uni players out as I'd love for everyone to stay with the club and not get any ideas in their heads!

And one more thing, as you've won the league it would only be fair that you were promoted. However, as you already have a team in cap 1, I really do not wish that on you guys. We've been in this situation for two seasons and I assure you it's not fun (as you've guessed)!
So in a way, you'll probably have a lot more fun playing in Cap 2, especially with the aim of defending your title!!
lastly, I can't believe you won the league with Lorenzo Green in your team lol he's a nice guy!
well done.

Was so taking the piss.
Phew ! Thanks Sinus for coming to my rescue, otherwise was going to be slammed by the look of it.
To others who took accidental offence, oops, sorry, my bad.
"Winning a league is of no importance at all." thought that might have given it away, seems not.
Thought it was sort of easy to read between the lines but in hindsight, oops, maybe not.
Was a reaction to fun being made of Wgtn Utd not being able to be promoted.(cheap shot)
Wgtn Utd and many teams in many leagues would know before the season starts that they cant be promoted, which means what - no point in playing, I dont think so!!!
Winning your league is the ultimate, you have finished ahead of your competition.
Any team that won their league this year congrats, men, woman, kids(yes kids too), you deserve all the kudos you can get.
To those that get promoted thats great too, well done.
Apologies again.

Okay Sam, apology accepted.

Will pick you up on one point though, at the start of the season we did have the prospect of being promoted, we did however rely on our 1sts and 2nds doing the same... it was a longshot, but still a real possibility... not to be though.
