Yeah I think a number of utd players will be struggling to sober up after Saturday night to play that game. Apologizes to NZpower if he took offense at what I said maybe I got a bit carried away with the victory. The uni game was tight I almost cringed when I turned up the park to see a game was being played at 1230 to ruck the pitch up some more. The game was essentially a final and i think both teams would have both preffered to play on Te Whea for it but not to be.Yeah Uni deffinatley had the majority of the chances but unfortunatley for them they were up against our fine english import who is the best goal keeper in the league who I am sure even Uni would admit pulled off a string of first class saves and has done all season long. Interestingly enough Uni complained about not having a striker yet they had matt rowe on the bench who is a fine player and only came on for the last couple of minutes maybe injured? Didn't seem like it though. Interesting too that our leading striker with 12 goals this season so far was told he wasn't good enough for the Uni gosses a couple of seasons ago a long with a number of our players including our influential center mid who for me is the best in the league hands down (except maybe for tawa steve romjin and stop outs reegan steel but i wouldnt class them as cap 2 players). Those two players have been crucial to our success this season along with several other rejects from uni who came back to haunt uni yesterday and throughout the season. It is disappointing we can't go up but thats football i suppose. Uni Tawa and Stop Out are all good enough to play in Capital 1 and i hope atleast one of them gets the chance too and I will turn up to that promo/relegation game cheering the cap 2 team on. Stop Out are out of the running now but the team we played which we somehow managed to draw with 0-0 with out in the hutt was the best team we have played all season and would make a fine cap1 team.So best of luck to Uni or Tawa, I really hope one of you get promoted (or both in a perfect world). I would probably prefer to see uni get it though because not only have they been a fine team, but having both your top teams in cap2 is not good for your club and because we always seem to struggle against uni! So hopefully a rule changed may happen in the future and soon we can play each other in cap1 that would be fantastic.
no offense taken mate. The table shows it: you deserve to be on top. Period. At the end of the day this has been one of the tightest leagues I've ever taken part in, and it's been fun. Lots of teams punched above their weight and that's probably why no one could really make a serious move at 1st spot until you guys started on that impressive string of positive results.
In regards to some of your players deemed not good enough for Uni, it's been discussed earlier. The old coach had his ways and a few people were disappointed, that's for sure. But as I've said before, if you don't show up to pre-season and put your faith in a 60min long trial, then there's always the chance you'll be overlooked.
I too think that a few players from this league could easily play at least cap 1. Quite a few of the SO youngsters, some of the Tawa players (not sure if some were first teamers though, but they were good), a couple of the Marist lads and some of you guys could easily perform there. I am purposely leaving Uni players out as I'd love for everyone to stay with the club and not get any ideas in their heads!

And one more thing, as you've won the league it would only be fair that you were promoted. However, as you already have a team in cap 1, I really do not wish that on you guys. We've been in this situation for two seasons and I assure you it's not fun (as you've guessed)!
So in a way, you'll probably have a lot more fun playing in Cap 2, especially with the aim of defending your title!!
lastly, I can't believe you won the league with Lorenzo Green in your team

lol he's a nice guy!
well done.
