is it odd that the marist fc website has no information on their capital 3 team? They claim a mens first team and a reserves squad, then they drop all the way down to their mens 3rd team playing in cap 5, no mention of the cap 3 team at all?

We (Marist) were top of Cap 2 half way through last season (and looking good for promotion to Cap 1), but somehow lost every game in the second round and went down! I have played footy for the last 27 years and it was my first taste of relegation. Still having nightmares!

I predict a torid day at the office for all the visiting teams tomorrow:

Island Bay United v Petone
Marist v Petone Armanis
Douglas Villa v Kapiti Coast Utd
Lower Hutt City v Karori Barcodes
Paekakariki v North Wellington

Looking good for promo to Cap 1??!! That was pretty optimistic thinking, you guys were very average, as the final table showed.

I had a look through last years Cap 2 thread and this was the league table after seven games. We managed to win our next two games to put us in contention for promotion at the mid-season mark.

However, we only picked up a couple of points throughout the entire second round of matches so we probably deserved to go down.

Marist were a very solid team last season. We (Gossies) and them played the best football in the first 9-10 games. Then our form suffered as we got injuries and our best players were picked up by our Firts XI and from what I've heard Marist were not able to train much due to the weather and thinks didn't go well for them on the pitch.

I still can't believe Marist went down tbh.

We all had those problems, lack of training grounds, injuries, unavailabilities, etc etc... but eventually the side with the strongest desire and will to succeed took away the Championship.

Predictions for this week.

The Kak over karori in a close one.
Lower Hutt to beat KCU
Villa to destroy Petone
Armanies to pip IB in a close one
Marist and North Welly in a 3-3 thriller.

Whats everyone else thinking?

After a few disasters at the start of the season, my predictions are getting better. If Marist had held onto a 2-0 half time lead, last week, I would have registered 5/5.

Karori Barcodes v Paekakariki
Kapiti Coast Utd v Lower Hutt City
Petone v Douglas Villa
Petone Armanis v Island Bay United - Draw
Marist v North Wellington

9 goals. 2 kick offs. No red cards. No handbags but I must say there were colored boots to match any handbags that may have appeared.SportZone2011-07-24 11:37:41

Paekakariki only beat Kapiti Coast by one goal in the local derby !? Must've played rubbish.
Permalink Permalink

it was a heated battle with which kapiti had half thare 1st team which is obvious by their result in cap 1. als paekak scored a screaming own goal wich basically kept kapit in the game 2nd half!

Very heated derby! Players, management and supporters all going at each other! The stuff dreams are made of... Yes at least 4 first team players I think. Own goal came at a bad time and a lucky first goal off a corner / goal mouth scramble. Very strong winds also made it hard to play our usual Barcelona style football ha ha

Full credit to Kapiti tho, gave the Kak a bit of a fright when they made it 2-2. Round two in a couple of weeks will surely be just as hard and fast! Cant wait!

Seems to me pretty pathetic for Kapiti Coast to take players from Capital 1 down to Capital 3 to try to beat Paekakariki.
Permalink Permalink

That's the mentality! haha.
Nah it was because some of their younger players have to play for the college before the first team. First team game was at 1pm in town so those players mustve flaged and played 2nd team!

When are you coming to watch us Colvinator?

Oh well, I'll let them off then.

Hopefully some time... The last couple of times you've been playing in town it's been crappy weather - well, colder than in my bed anyway!

We only had one regraded player playing. We should have had Armanis in the first game as well to be fair. Good competitive game today - very happy with the result .

What a double header! I'll definitely see if I can make it for one of the games or both.

Regulations don't allow it. Marist has finished their Prem season.

Thats correct hence why marist didnt have any 1st teamers last weeknd only one player who had been regraded a few weeks ago.
