Villa's visit to Petone will be a rip-snorter of a clash, and is a tough one to call, but the rapa boys should have enough quality to come out on top.

Karori Barcodes v North Wellington - Draw
Kapiti Coast Utd v Paekakariki
Petone v Lower Hutt City
Petone Armanis v Douglas Villa
Marist v Island Bay United

Marist 5 Island Bay 3. (Ht 2-0) Played some really good stuff again today. We were 4-0 up mid way through the second half until some chaotic defending led to a tense last few minutes. Great win though, especially with a number of our boys injured/away skiing which gave good opportunities to a few of the other boys.  MaristOwl2011-08-13 20:25:24

4/5 correct predictions is not bad, but we are still waiting for someone to nail 5/5.

I would agree with Marist Owl that we played some quality footy during an eight goal thriller at Kilbirnie Park. It is just a shame that it has taken us until the final month of the season to get our act together.

Armanies v Villa must have been a good game! The Kak now need only 1pt from their next 3 games to win it! Next week against Villa will be interesting with Villa probably needing to win to stay in promotion contention!

Don't think any teams from Horowhenua League will be keen to play in the Wellington leagues, not sure about the Masterton side off things!

I think cap football should have someone watch the Petone game and if both teams don't play to their potential then fine the club. And yes I know this wont happen.

I can't see why Petone third team would throw the game when it needs the points to avoid relegation.
Douglas Villa will lose to Paekak and Armanis will have more than enough goal difference to stay 2nd. Probably should also check the live TV footage of the Petone v Petone first round game when the score was 8-0!
Probably should also fine DV for losing to Petone 3 as well and not playing to their potential.SportZone2011-08-26 15:33:45

Just think State of Origin, mate against mate trying to kick each other off the park for the win.  Both teams have too much to play for to be playing silly buggers!

There will be a distinct lack of any home advantage tomorrow.

Marist to be Paekakariki? You're dreaming...

(yes I am a Marist old boy, and I'd be happy to be proved wrong... but I just can't see it).

This fixture was a draw last time round, why do you not give Marist a chance?

Assassin, ya dobber, I noticed that you were on the sidelines yesterday to watch the mighty green machine almost spoil Paekak's party. If we had nicked a late winner, there couldn't have been too many complaints?

Besides, as we were 2-0 up against them at home, we could have done the double over the West coasters. They only managed a 2-2 draw in the first game thanks to a Marist legend slotting home a tidy finish.

To be fair to the home side, they played some quality footy. I am not sure if we had a touch of the ball in the first 20 mins! I have a lot of respect for their coach (former All White). Thankfully their early strike woke us up.

Cheers Paekak for a couple of quality clashes and for the after match kai - much appreciated. Good luck next season. I hope you go straight up to Cap 1.

Ha ha. Well first off I was right! Cause you didn't beat em did you?

Second, it was all just meant to fire you boys up. I know a bunch of you read the forum and with you guys being in a rut at the time of the original fixture I thought some unkind words from your old skipper might have brought a reaction. And then it was postponed... so the intended effect was lost. By Saturday you boys had found a bit of form and gone on a good run as well.

As for the game, I only saw the 2nd half and I thought a point was fair enough from what I saw. Thought maybe Paekak were a tad nervous compared to other games I watched. Marist might have nicked it at the end and put the celebrations on hold but that would have been tough on the 'kak (IMO).

Kak v Marist was a good game. Fair result 1-1.Kak dominated the opening spell then game could have gone either way tho. Kak hit the post and had one cleared of the line late on. Marist missed a couple of good chances near the end including one where the centre back from the kak tried to diving head a ball about half a foot of the ground! It got stuck under his chest and was lucky his cb partner Sam Mac came to the rescue!

In the end we were happy with the point to win the league! Highlight for Marist was the after match were the Kak MOM was defeated for only the 2nd time this season by one of Marists supporters. Quickest skull I have seen this year I think. Big ups!

I hope won't be fined for not playing to your full potential!!
Well done to Stef and your team. I wouldn't have picked you after our first game but you never know whats going on each week with teams in this league and the teams who can get some consistency have been rewarded.
Hard Luck Braveheart with your picks this week. I would expect to see your bum somewhere after that down trou!! 0 from 5 but good onya for sticking your neck out each week.

Apparently New Zealand Football has just confirmed that an O-League place is on the line for tomorrows clash of the title pretenders at Fraser Park!

Having predicted 4/5 a couple of times, surely a clean sweep is on the cards tomorrow as the heavy burden of final round home advantage will prove decisive.

Clubs join capital contests
Gary Caffell | Wednesday, November 30, 2011 10:31

Wairarapa will have three teams playing in the Capital Football inter-club competitions next year.

Masterton AFC announced yesterday its Trevs Sports-sponsored side which won the Wairarapa championship last season will be competing in the Capital third division series next year.

They will be the lone Wairarapa-based team in that grade with Douglas Villa competing at second division level and Wairarapa United seconds in the fourth division.

Trevs Sports Masterton spokesman Doug Gardner said his side had won the Wairarapa championship title in six of the last 10 years and had been offered the chance to play against most Wellington-based teams in the Capital competitions on numerous occasions. It was not until now, however, that the time felt right to make the move.

"Most of last season's team have indicated they are in support of what we are doing and that was a key factor for us," Gardner said, adding that with Wairarapa having three teams playing in Capital competitions there was plenty of scope for the district's younger talent to compete there at a level with which they were comfortable.

Gardner also noted that the defection of his side, which played here under the Masterton Athletic banner, would not impact on the number of teams playing in the Wairarapa championship as Athletic intended to remain part of that competition as well.

Meanwhile, it seems that Wairarapa United's search for a suitable home ground next season may be at an end. The Chatham Cup holders are believed to have been given permission by Carterton District Council to play their home games at Carrington Park next year.
