Probably not considering I added to it implying there had been a playoff :)

Nah definitely not, they’ve lost probably their best 6 players so I can’t see them staying up but they just want to do it for the experience.

Bah, enough with your verifiable facts! Give us wild rumour and unfounded speculation!

Seriously though, nice to see that Western can indeed take advantage of their hard-earned promotion.

You mean Klopp failed to impress the Board? I heard he was quite taken by Moera.

Rovers return
I’d heard that the New Plymouth team isn’t taking up the Central League 1 spot and so North Wellington are staying up?
Now it's been debunked, where did you hear that?

Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009

Ooh, and just around the corner as well. Might go up and have a looksee.

Possibly making first use of the new $10 million + sporting facility and gym that they've built up there just recently as well.

I’ve heard that they have a charter plane to fly for away fixtures also - no need for overnight or a 6 hour drive

Enough about a Central League team - has anyone heard how many teams from CL2 are going to get promoted (with 4 teams being promoted from CL to NL).

It's really not clear as yet what will happen with promotions, or relegations for that matter, or even if CL2 exists beyond the winterisation of the NL.

Will depend if Reserve teams of NL sides can enter the CL or not I suppose.

I think NL reserve sides should be allowed to enter CL2, but no way they should be near CL.

Not sure if this is 100% finalised, but I just noticed Capital Football have published their Senior League Starting Positions in 2026 doc (PDF).

I don’t think there are any surprises in the CL2 lineup?

North Wellington (relegated from CL)
PN Utd
Douglas Villa
Lower Hutt City
Tara
Stop Out
PN Marist
Taradale
Seatoun
Wainuiomata (promoted from Cap Premier)

Cool to see another Rapa team in Cap Prem. BNU has had a fall though, weren't they in Cap Prem not that far ago too.

Good to see another Rapa team, not sure the way they have got there is sustainable. There is a lot of “coaching” money being paid to players…

Jerram Tuck and Jared Cunniff to North Wellington
Declan Street to Tawa

Haven't heard much else in terms of player movements
I have horrible opinions

Two at Petone….Lucas Jelley.  And a few at Island Bay. Fergus Young one of them.

It’s going to be a very open league as to who grabs the 4 promotions spots.

What’s everyone’s predictions based on player movements and early pre-season form?

Based on form….. Seatoun 😂

Surely PNU are in the mix. Nth Wellington will likely bounce straight back.

I don’t think winning Div 2 Hilton-Petone games counts as form!

PNU, NW, Tawa, DV would be my picks for top 4.

I know a guy at DV who said a few have left from last year. I wonder if the addition of Greytown will dilute them as well.

Anyone know about Lower Hutt? They did OK last year and have a new coach

Have heard the same regarding Douglas Villa. Around 4/5 key players have moved on or stated their intention to. At the same time, they have a bunch of young players in their ranks who will have improved after a year in CL2 to hopefully fill some of the void left by those key players leaving.

Dropping the u20 rule will probably free up some young talent for CL2 teams this year.

From watching Hilton Petone games I’d say Tawa, LH and DV will push for it, maybe PNU as well

There would need to be some big improvements and probably a few new signings for LH to be a contender. The games I’ve watched them play, they weren’t near the level they were this time last year.

One thing is a lot clearer, Wainui and Stop Out won’t be challenging the top half.

Genuine question:

Will reserve teams be allowed into Central League 2 in 2027 if they finish high enough in the Capital Premier League and their First Teams are promoted to The National League?

I think they should be, but not be able to be promoted to CL.

Alternatively have a seperate reserve grade similar to the Northern League's u23s

I wonder if NZF/Capital and Central Football will actually detail what’s happening re promotion relegation and reserve teams before this season starts.

What I think will happen (whether people like it or not). Is that the 4 CL teams moving into the National league, will be offered their old CL spot for their reserve sides and promotion/relegation will continue as per normal between CL and CL2.

Geniune question, what has actually happened to Stop Out in the last 5-6 years, pre-covid they were top 4 CL reguarly.

I don’t think this will happen - the reserves teams are literally different teams that need to prove they are good enough to get promoted.

I have heard that reserve teams will not be allowed into CL and the question is whether CL2 continues (and allow reserves teams) or if it reverts back to Cap Prem and Central Prem.

My personal opinion is that CL2 should remain. The top 4 go straight up, with the addition of the Central qualifier (maybe Wanganui) and the top 3 Cap Prem teams (Olympic, Phoenix, Marist - from last years standings).

I can't see CL2 as a joint Central/Capital comp remaining, when the top 4 CL2 sides are promoted. You'll be bringing in some clubs who will be struggling to manage the travel+costs.
