I didnt think that Wests would have such a great lead on the rest to be honest...

Yes, Olympic still unbeaten at this stage. A lot of credit must go to their centre back pairing.

Ye nah ur right I didnt think Wests would do well but they have.. we still havent played them so that would be interesting..
as for NVH hes been a stand out for us this year and has got man of the match more then at least 4 occasions.. so I think hes been a huge addition to our team. Has performed much better then S Nathu.

piss off  you 2!first of all our center backs are quality but as have been our left and right backs! and as for anyone calling it a back 4 it is a back 5!

and you greenie, can i get clarification on what you ment by "lasting" are you meaning in the way of suspension or the fact that i have stayed at the bubbles all season?

Miramar have dropped some soft points. Lost to the Naki? Wests bit more clinical huh

Ye they have, but then so did Olympic in there first 4-5 games which they drew.. Should have won easily but they didnt.. If they win there game in hand they will be 2nd behind Wests.Itll be an interesting finish to the season.. and yes probably all you guyes on the forum will say Olympic will finish 3rd or 4th, but I believe we may push for 2nd place. As for winning it, I believe no one will catch Wests unfortunetely. Focus now should be Chatham Cup..

I still belive we can will the title. Its not going to be easy but i dont see why not.

Yeah sure we cant afford to drop anymore points and need to beat Wests twice, but its all aligned for us and hopfully we can pull a rabbit out of the hat and a CL title to take back to the cabinet.

As for the Chatham Cup, im not as entrilled after learning they dropped all the incentive money, all were really playing for now is prestige. I want nothing more than to win the Chatham Cup but feel like its going to be quite a ride.

Id say If us and by some miralce Miramar go through well almost 100% face each other in the semi's.

O well. Go olympic.

As they say its mathematically possible.  Big ask though with the goal difference counting in Wests favour if the points are even.

Would be good to have a huge finish with the final round deciding the winner so good luck Olympic.

At the other end we need United to win a game to make the relegation battle a bit more interesting. It better not be this weekend though as Petone need to keep the momentum going if they want a top four finish.

Rovers with Sam Halligan sent off and Chris McIvor got concussed from a nasty head collison although did score the 1st goal. and Andrew Abba the 2nd for Rovers.

Wairarapa's suele soromon was a standout and so was Campbell banks.

Missing one result - Wellington 0 Petone 4.

Petone played 30mins with 10 men after Sam Morrisey got sent after only being on the field for 5 mins with two yellows - a very bizare bit of reffing, but don't get me started!

The score was 2, 0 at that stage, with young McLay getting his second hattrick in consective weeks.

I know Chainsaw has put on weight but that's a bit harsh.

That reffing wasn't bizarre it was f*cking ridiculous.  First yellow I didn't see but second yellow was for standing over a free kick on half way.  United showed no real desire to take it quickly anyway, and bang out comes poor Sam's second yellow.  Awful refereeing.

We were ready to take the free kick and the guy did not retreat 10 yards, in fact he made a movement toward the ball as we were just about to take it. He also committed the foul although happy to be wrong on this. I'd say the main reason though was committing such a silly offence so soon after the 1st yellow.

I guess I can't argue it was silly, but it was hardly something he deserved to get sent off for, and I dispute your suggestion that you guys were trying to take the kick.  Your guy was just standing there waiting for your players to jog up the pitch.  If he'd really wanted to take it quickly and milk a card he'd have hit it into Sam's legs and then I wouldn't have much of an argument.

Proximity to first card shouldn't have any bearing on second card.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

dispute it all you like, but we were ready to take the kick and he didn't retreat.  It was a silly bookable offence (bookings happen all the time for this) so he got what he deserved. Just a case of a young guy lacking the nous to stay out of things once he's on the 1st yellow, simple stuff really. I'm sure he will learn from it and be a better all round guy.

I agree with you Smithy, I guess if he was reffing to the letter of the law, it was a yellow card offence but considering how many warnings he gave the Wellington player for bad tackles and I certainly didn't hear him tell Sam to back away I think he could have given Sam the benefit of the doubt.

I did see the Petone coach talking to the ref after the match in the Wellington club and not knowing what was said but he did not look happy!

The worst part is that Sam now has to miss two weeks of football as Petone's C/L team don't have a game this weekend and will have to wait until they play Wairarapa to serve his suspension.

Hope the referee will do the same then.  A weak sending off in a game that didn't warrant it.  How many times do we see that in Wellington football?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I agree with you there, the reffing at CL level is 'inconsistent' and i mean that in a not nice way. Too many more serious offences go unpunished. But I regard Peter as pretty competent.

the ref we had in the naki was very odd as well, gave them a crap peno. free kick whiped into the edge of the box, guy falls over, peno.
2mins later however he sent their captian off (straight red) for pulling the fingers at lewis . it was harsh, and a bit funny!

As a matter of interest is there ever any communication in the form of open discussion,  between the Referees Assn and the clubs, (players/coaches) regarding interpretation, inconsistency, reaching agreements etc, or are we all   above that sort of thing.
A properly facilitated meeting at the beginning of the season with say, Central and Premier coaches and captains and the referees and assessors that officiate games at that level, tainted with a modem of dignity and respect for each other, may take away some of the frustration suffered by both sides during the season.
I'll volunteer for the "F" job. Cards and disent left outside the door.

Speak to your chairman or first team coach. That is exactly what happened this year, last year and a few years before that. Out at CF headquarters a couple of weeks before the season kicked off, a few examples of what the refs look for, what they will crack down on, a question and answer session, and a few beers after.  That's why I'm not surprised the Petone fella was sent, that type of thing was talked about. All the refs were there, a really good evening. A few notable absentees though from Clubs. Too bad for them.

Was the referee this guy?

DECISION TIME: Referee Matt Stoneman gives captain Greg Clark a red card shortly after Clarky received an elbow to the face in a tackle and ignored the ref when he 'spoke' with the Lower Hutt player.

<!--start components/story/common_content-->

Referee Matt Stoneman took centre stage as Team Taranaki succumbed 5-1 to Lower Hutt City in its Central League football clash at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth yesterday.

In a curious display, the official sent off two Energyworks Team Taranaki players, found grounds to disallow three goals for the home side and awarded a penalty to City.

Many of Stoneman's decisions were contentious and Team Taranaki intends filing an official complaint after becoming exasperated with the local whistleblower.

"I think we have to [file a complaint] but not just on the back of today over the last two games we've had some very controversial decisions," said Team Taranaki head coach Ian McGrath.

"I think he's influenced the outcome of the game today, it's as simple as that. And when you get an official who is hell-bent on making crucial decisions like that it is very difficult to take."

The first such decision yesterday came about 12 minutes when Team Taranaki skipper Greg Clark bundled the ball into the net from a free kick but was judged to have fouled the keeper. If that ruling was understandable the next on 23 minutes was less so.

In a harsh decision Stoneman showed Clark a straight red card for foul language just after the defender was clattered in a late challenge for which he had been awarded a free kick.

From the ensuing free kick Team Taranaki had the ball in the net again, but this time Tomas Mosquera had offended and the goal was ruled out.

Curiously, 10-man Team Taranaki did hit the front on the half-hour, Mark Bland hitting a trademark finish from the edge of the box after a corner was poorly cleared.

City striker Luis Corrales equalised with the first of a controversial hat-trick before the break. The Costa Rican appeared to have committed a clear foul before shooting, but this time Stoneman saw nothing wrong.

Corrales made it 2-1 just after the restart again in dubious circumstances. The referee's assistant had flagged for an infringement and, with both sides waiting for the non-existent whistle, the Wellington Phoenix triallist strolled through to score.

With Team Taranaki now in disarray, Corrales got a third when he flicked on a Pedro Garcias shot and minutes later he was uprooted in the box to earn a penalty which Sam Blackburn slotted for 4-1.

Mosquera, meanwhile, had another goal disallowed and Nick Betteridge was sent off for a second yellow card after offering Stoneman some officiating advice. Garcias ended the match in style for the football purist, curling a fine free kick directly into the Team Taranaki goal but, by then, only one man had the attention of the home supporters.

LOWER HUTT CITY 5 (L. Corrales 3, S. Blackburn, P. Garcia goals) TEAM TARANAKI 1 (M. Bland goal).

It was the worst ref game and a disgrace. The guy had a smile on his face as if he had just refd the best game of the year and in reality both teams and supporters who should have been there to see football played were instead watching the ref make a complete dick of himself and the game. It was not an inexpereinced young guy but one of the older CL refs. skylab892009-07-20 23:38:28

If this was a policy I would be happy.  I am sick of seeing players stand over the ball after a free kick is given, or those that step up to the ball and then very slowly retreat.  I would love to see everyone who does this get booked, people would hopefully soon learn their lesson and it would be eliminated from the game.

However I agree that if out of nowhere it is done as a one off, it is arbitrary and achieves nothing except to piss people off.

Anyone care anymore Toehacker? Done deal.

Think people are more worried about how crap all the refs are than anything else. Which they are terrible.

And did someone say something about 10k wages at the Welly Utd? What the..? Gutted to all but two/three of the team who would've seen nothing of that (provided that the rumour is true).
