No - get the bother out. Once they fire up their game goes off.

Olympic 5  Petone 2

Petone 2  Olympic 5.  Oly started best with Abba a constant handful, and he scored, but Petone levelled at 1-1 by halftime. Oly must have had some great oranges at the break because they scored three goals in 10 mins upon the resumption -- Abba two more for a hat trick plus an earned penalty converted by O'Connor. The fourth goal needed to win the league came soon after, but strangely Abba was hardly seen now and Petone scored to make it 5-2. Oly then hit the bar and there were a couple of clashes resulting in one red for each team. Surreal scenes on the final whistle -- Petone unhappy at a solid loss, Oly distraught at having the league taken away and in one corner of the crowd (approx 1000) a Miramar celebration. Lewis out for four weeks in 2014? He got his 7th yellow in the first half (two weeks) plus a red in the second (one or probably two more weeks). Well done Petone for turning up to play well, and it was a cracker of a game.

what were the reds for?  Were there any headbutts?

Olympic red was for a headbutt after play had stopped for a freekick.

I originally thought petone red was for a second yellow (I swear he had 2? Good thing I'm not a ref...) but there was a bit of pushing and shoving so the linesman must have seen a petone player do something a bit more, I'm not sure of what.

Heard this was his last season.

Sorry Frankie.....I was on the Clubroom side and the clashes were on the No 4 pitch side so I did not get a good view of them. The AR on that side was fairly close to the happening.

you just know in the changing room before the game and at half time, the bubbles would have been talking about staying calm and not getting carried away with the whole occassion.  Then one of their most experienced players head butts someone and gets sent off

At a really crucial time to. 5-2 10 minutes or so to go, and they were just starting to dominate and look like getting the 'winner'. It was incredibly stupid.

He looked like he was giving the yellow but he never flashed it, was a straight red I think. Linesman didn't have any input from what I could hear but I could be wrong. I didn't see anything happen but my view was obscured by a couple of players.

He did go over and talk to the linesman after flashing a yellow card. Then the red card came out. It was odd.

Think the yellow card was for the initial challenge that set the whole thing off, and then the red for something in the aftermath.
Still can't believe that Barry Lewis didn't get sent off for running 40m into that scuffle and throwing a punch. Got the red card he deserved later on in the game through some sheer stupidity.

Must have completely missed the yellow then. Apparently the red was for feigning to headbutt.

A fittingly exciting end to a tremendous league. Based in the evidence in my flat today the Mar boys celebrated in their customary style.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

These guys come across as such idiots in the media, and even on the footy field. Ive only seen them play twice this year but both times the language they use throughout is disgusting. Dont get me wrong i swear and use some pretty bad language at time, but not on the footy field for everyone to hear, and certainly wouldnt in the paper for even more to read.

DomPost said Maki Halikias got a red card for something he said to the ref after the game at Petone on Saturday. That is odd, as he was not on the team card, nor on the bench, nor in the technical area. But I guess he can be cited.

To be in the technical area he had to be on the card. So was he listed as an assistant.

You sure about that?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Why was he anywhere near the ref? A total lack of respect.
