Yeah bet365 is the stranger one. Odds on Northern, Mainland and Southern prems. I have spoken to a recent ex player of Northern prem who said there's often enough easy money to be made if you know who's in or out of squads etc. I'd hope the TAB have a better idea than that.

Surely they wouldn't offer it if they didn't make money out of it.

think in the case of B365 for every local who takes advantage of the information gap and wins off them, there will be many more overseas gamblers who will bet on anything and everything, including club football in NZ.

Yeah what Tegal said. Only people in the know making money when they see an opportunity. It's not like they're making money off every game either

Fuck this stupid game

I love that the TAB have odds. Hardly crazy to say the bookie might know a bit of local footy without any extensive research. Probably has a son there or thereabouts. Yes NZ is small.

Seems to fly in the face of NZF's freakout last January about betting (given they have to approve TAB getting in). Smacks of wanting to have their cake and eat it.

Stop Out had three Marist players from last year in their team with golden boot winner Jeremy Tuck and defender Jono Steele living in Wellington, while it was a shock for Rufer and his team to see their goalkeeper from last year, Palmerston North Boys' High School student Liam Outrim turn up in goal for Stop Out.

Rufer was none the wiser on why Outrim who was unavailable for Marist having decided to go back and keep for the school, fronted for Stop Out.

I was surprised at quite how woeful Marist were. They can't complain or even mention the cards at all as from minute one in the game they were persistently fouling and talking to the ref. They were all warned multiple times and given plenty of chances.

Amusing moment when with about ten minutes to go Marists RB asked the ref how long to go and asked if he could stop the game early - he would have gone to bed last night with nightmares of Andrew Abba who terrorized him all day long, he didn't help himself by not having sprigs and must have fallen over a dozen times, I would have thought any player playing central league would own a pair of studs!

Article doesn't mention either SO hit the post 4 times - the score could have reached the double digits.

i'm sure I read somewhere that Bill wanted to have a pathway/links for the clubs "youth" players to get a chance in the central league. Doesn't appear they have any with McIvor and Wilson both playing... For as long as i can remember the club has always had young guys in the 2nd team ready and waiting for to step up to central league. Only in the last few years this seems to have changed, what has happened?

I think you'll find they had a few youth players involved on Monday. Blake Koolen, Ethan Ladd, Ross Willox all teenagers and started, then Bradley Perks and Jorge Akers both teenagers off the bench, not forgetting Angus Kilkolly is only 21. Getting players in like McIvor and Wilson is needed to (a) help these young players develop in training and during a match, and (b) let's face it without some of the older experienced lot a team full of Hawke's Bay youth would sink very quickly in the central league.

To agree with your point, it's been noticable over the last few years especially, about the lack of quality youth coming through in the bay.....but for me the finger needs to be pointed at the youth development system in Hawke's Bay and not so much at the clubs. I just don't think the clubs (including Napier) have the depth of good young players in their ranks to compete at a good level

Yeah don't know why they have stopped doing that, which is why I'm trying to keep track of it here.

Surprising that the ref continued with the game with the ball stopping like that. Good watch though, thanks.

Facebook told me that Paul Ifill scored from behind half way???

Wrong thread but in a similar vein I watched Maki Halikias score a lovely goal for the Greek reserves from just on the attacking side of half way, deftly into the net on the full. He almost did it again later in the game too. Celebrity appearance from Pink Panther Van Hattum on the sidelines upped the banter considerably. Matt Colic had a bit to say to Referee Mohammad after the match.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The goal must have been disallowed as The Olympic reserves lost 3 Nil.
