Just looked. Between 2005-2009 there was a playoff between last in Central League and a Capital/Central side. Every time the Central League side lost.

None of them were close either:

2005 Stop Out 5 - 2 Red Sox

2006 Team Nak 5 - 2 Red Sox

2007 Petone 10 - 1 Team Naki

2008 Wairarapa 8 - 1 Stop Out

2009 Tawa 8 - 4 Wellington United

2010 Maycenvale 5 - 0 Team Naki

Could have done without the reminder of 2009!  It's one thing to lose a play off but another to watch all 180 minutes from the bench haha.

Fuck this stupid game

CL without auto relo was a joke. A team could score one goal all season and still stay up. Proper structured leagues have to have relegation

True. But it made some sense back in the day.

When CL was resurrected there was concern that teams coming up wouldn't be good enough either on the park or off it. The playoff helped make it hard, in theory, to come up for those reasons.

Was a good change to remove the playoff though.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Even then it never made sense - the team of players that wins Capital Premier for the promoted club is not going to be the team that plays in Central League!

Football Programs - A lot of people don't bother about them, but they still get produced and I love them, I have a pretty good collection especially of NZ ones

So I wrote a review of the ones I came across this season in the Central \ Capital leagues over the last season

apologies to clubs like BNU & Waterside-Karori who I didn't get to see at home - will do those next season

Programmable - a review of Central \ Capital League programs in 2016

absolutely!! He's still got a few good years in him at Central League level provided he stays injury free.

Programmes

I also enjoy them when they are available- Have been to a few games where they haven't been. Not sure how the clubs get around that! Seems as though colour pushes you up the rankings. Clubs who have limited budgets or don't have 'people' in the printing industry struggle to put them out with out it costing the club a fortune.!  At the end of the day most end up in the bin!

Rumour has it that there will be no Schrijvers in the team at Lower Hutt, also the goalkeeper go-round is starting up again with only 1 looking to stay put

Upper Hutt not bad but i thought Nae Nae or BNU where pretty good as a club this year

This award not about first teams as some may think…..

so congrats Upper Hutt a strong club spirit is better than that blip of success made from a money injection.

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

Huge loss for Lower Hutt if it is in fact true! both lads always excellant for Hutt, not happy with new coach? But rumours are just rumours and always out there at this time of the year.

not sure you know what you are talking about. Well aware it is not about first or second team success. Upper Hutt win it last year despite 1st and 2nd team being relegated so obviously not on first team success.

Heard a rumor that the soon to be well traveled Adam Cowan may end up at Team Taranaki. Highly doubt PN Marist would want him despite him being a Palmy local

well funny you should mention karori, rumour has it that definately 1 if not 2 of their argentians are moving on to a central league club that has a couple of other argentinians around the place.

Sounds like a bit of argie bargy to me.

that rumour is rubbish the Argies are staying with us at Wharfies even if we are playing in Cap Prem. The lure of our own Argie coach and good backing from Greenie and his cohorts will have them here forever. CL clubs keep your hands off our argies.....

I heard Tade was heading our way as Wharfies don't want to slip up 3 years in a row trying to get promoted. Karori could afford his $20k salary as well.
