I thought I was going to Redwood to watch a game of football today, unfortunately the ref had other ideas. I really want to support ref's and I think they do a tough job but the performance of all 3 officials today was poor. If you didn't see the game then explaining some of the decisions on here would not do them justice. One that sticks out for me was an Olympic player crossing the ball from the right that hit a Tawa player 10 yards away and out for a corner. The linesman put his flag across his chest so people assumed he had seen a handball so a penalty. The ref and linesman had a chat and gave a goal kick. I heard Tawa players apologising to Olympic players after the game. Poor.

Tawa V Olympic. The refs had an absolute holocaust! but at the end of the day Olympic need to take responsibility for losing the plot! I played for Tawa today and was the first to admit Olympic were hard done by! However, if it is not going your way, re group, play football and get on with the game. don't blame anyone else (even though the ref was minging!). I was amazed Simon George (who I Have a lot of respect for) did not reinforce this point to his players and get on with the game instead of abusing the officials. At the end of the day Olympic were all over us and probably would have won if they didn't get caught up in all the carry on.(Not surprised they did though!)

We will take the three points. 8 goals past Olympic....F#*king get in!!!!!!!

No I didn't realise. Maybe because, though I've coached junior football at the club for about 10 years. I have nothing to do with the senior section of the club apart from playing for a social team. So thats why I can't give an opinion on his coaching and the senior team. I never really paid attention to it.

Its drawing a long bow to say all of those players left because of the coach. Other clubs also playing central legue would also have a simlar list to that.

Yakcall, I cant understand how a junior coach dosent know who's in the top team at a club. Surely they should be encourging the juniors to be getting along and supporting there senior teams??? I think it's an absolute shame that the kids in these clubs can reel off the names of their favourite English club sides but dont even know 1 first team player in their own club. Makes you wonder if they even understand what belonging with a club means!

In truth, I never had an interest before. I know some of the main players, but hadn't the time or the interest to go along to games. This year I've been trying to make more of an effort to support my club and get my kids too as well. To have a bit of pride in themselves and the club.

I admit I couldt of been doing this earlier, but didn't and some players are never going to be interested in watching the seniors. But some kids in my team have really got interested in them.

Lower Hutt Junior co-ordinator has been really good at sending out emails to all the junior coaches and managers this year also, letting them know when and where all the main senior men and women teams are playing. So encouring more of them to go watch!

Heard Olympic made a phone call during their game to see how much the fine was if they walked off the pitch midgame.

Video of Tawas goal that at first was not given. Also note the quality grass cover redwood park has! A record amount for this time of year I have been told.

It's the most blatant goal I've ever seen not given.

The weirdest part of this is how the Olympic boys protest when the goal is eventually awarded.  What are they protesting about?  They all know it went in.

It just highlights the in-competence of the officials. What the video doesn't show is that play goes on for another 30secs or so and an Olympic player nearly scored. It was farcical.

so Barry was on the line and blatantly dived to save it with his hand and then took a dive?

A little bit blatant (and a slightly different reality to the coaches quote in the Dim post)

Not worth an academy award but maybe a Bafta.

Oh my.

So it sounds like George was a little bit unlucky with his second yellow card, but otherwise the referee got things pretty much bang on.

Meanwhile the Greeks lost the plot?

Sounds familiar.

Hope CF fines the club in light of these videos and what was said in the paper today.

You had to be at the game to realise that the referee (and his assistants) most certainly did not get things bang on.

Tawa people told me same sort of thing, but still to blame ref for 4-1 loss in light of these videos seems a bit unreasonable?

Agree. I don't want to go down the road of bagging ref's either because without them I would not have a game to take my son to watch. I must remember to post a "well done" the next time I see a ref have a good game, hopefully this weekend.

The only reason that these comments were made due to the fact that the Officials allowed play to go on for nearly a minute or so before the goal was awarded....as you will see from the video both the Ref and the AR allowed the game to proceed. No argument that the goal was legit.
As for GB 2nd yellow card well that was a joke...Smithy you were not there so any comment from you is hearsay ....!!!!!
Now as for your Liverpool1 you were there and we spoke after the game and your comment about the Ref was ....if you can remember correctly " he was appaling ( meaning the Ref)
No excuses about Tawa's win....good luck to them....they finnaly "sqared" last year's loss of 8-1...

As for the comments the Greeks lost the plot ...well obviously you are very much qualified to give your opinion....

I fully agree with you....the mistake that the officials did was to allow play to go on....and in fact an Olympic player nearly scored....
according to the rules ( and yes I have checked....) if the goal kick was taken ( after Olympic missed the chance to score ...) then "legally" Tawa's goal ( and yes once again agreed it was a goal..) could not have been awarded.....
No sour grapes with Tawa's win....the issue was the 2nd yellow card to GB which in fact upset the boys to the point that they lost their composure...
How about the "calls" that a certain ex Tawa Club Captain (that was the AR on the duggout side) made during the game by awarding goal kicks instead of either a corner or a penalty...????
Even the Tawa guys were mistified with his calls....
Look Olympic lost , no issue there...it was interestring though that a lot of Tawa players after the game were apologising for the way the Ref and or the AR's officiated the game. If you need names from the Tawa players to confirm this no problem ....I am happy to provide them to you ...!!!!
You guys done the double on us this year..and good luck to you...thats something that a lot of other clubs have not been able to do so in the last 2 or so years...good luck to Tawa for the rest of the season....
As for our boys they will bounce back.
I suppose in the last two years Olympic have been the team to beat...!!!
2008-9  29 games unbeaten Chatham Cup
2010 season 18 C/L games 1 Loss C/L title

Na, he was not on the line he was in between the penalty spot and the goal line.....if it was deliberate hand ball....how do you explain the bleeding nose.... he put his hand infront of his face to protect himself....and yes apparently it was a hell of powerfull shot....
again no issue with the peno...the question is ,....was the hand ball a deliberate acts....in my opinion No...

last time i checked Smithy...we are in a Free and Democratic country where the freedom of speach still applies....

I'm not doubting the ref had a shocker, but Olympics issues seem to be a decision that (nearly) worked to their advantage (the play on), a blatant hand ball that stopped a sure goal, and the second yellow card of GB. sh*t I would question all 5 of the yellows at our game on the weekend - these things happen.
Is there anything controversail about the other two Tawa goals?

Wind up success!

Just re the Barry sending off, I think that if the ref awards a pen then he has to give a red card doesn't he?

If it's a handball then it is, by definition, deliberate, so it's denying a goal and has to be a sending off.

At least, that is how I understand the rule.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
