Karori definitely playing Naenae.  It's quite possible that there'll only be three games of senior footy in Wellington tomorrow, although Nightz seems to think (in another thread) his team is playing, so could be wrong, but maybe...

CHATHAM CUP:

Miramar Rangers __ Waitakere Utd __ David Farrington (although major doubt over this venue)

CENTRAL LEAGUE:

Wellington United __ Taranaki __ Newtown 1;

PREMIER MEN:

Waterside Karori __ Naenae _ (venue TBC)

Nothing on Capital Soccer web [ as usual ] yet, they will keep everyone waiting to the last , just to stuff the weekend completely

don't really understand the need for the change of game? Every game for both clubs has the same bearing on promo/relegation? Anyways, pity, because I was looking forward to playing Wharfies again, looks like I'll be watching it instead. Not a chance you'll be play on No. 1, resembles a hippopotamus wading ground, I think I even saw News hanging around it suspiciously. No 2 wasn't too bad last week against IB, but is quite bobbly. Probably terrible now though after this weeks weather.

i think the logic would be thus:
- grounds are f*@ked, so have to cancel pretty much all footy
- but cant cancel Cup match, central league (bc of travel and bc of it being important relegation game) and have to play wharfies bc they have so many games in hand theyll be playing until xmas if have more cancellations
- so given the wharf have to play they will have looked at their remaining fixtures and decided the one v the nae (which is already scheduled to be played after the rest of the league has been completed) is both important bc both teams still potentially involved in promo/relegation race and can be played without disrputing the rest of the draw.

at your service ...

PS - dont give up hope of playing the wharf again this season quite yet Monkey - there's still an outside chance you'll get to play the Dreamers in a promo/relegation play off

PPS - make that a very outside chance

Wait until tomorrow.  I'm going to nip down a break a key off in the lock of the rooms at Naenae so you have to change in the showers.

Are Naenae renovating the clubrooms or summat? Changing rooms are standard yet the loos are pretty flash.

The Wharf will change in the best changing rooms in Wellington, at fortress KP. Then get in the cars, jump out at Naenae at precisely 2.27, play the game, then jump back into the cars and away from Naenae as soon as possible.

Also heard some rumours of hiring security guards to look after the cars while the game's on. You can never be too careful out there...

They couldn't nick your car could they.  Seeing as you needed mine to jump start yours last time you were there.

You popping out, or heading to the Big Cup match ?

Yes, well, I couldn't afford a security guard, could I? Had to think outside the box.

Yeah, I'm popping by tomorrow. Bringing the Magpies around, for the game against, err, Upper Hutt...

Don't wear white shoes.  You have to get across the No. 1 swamp to get to the pitch.

An army vehicle if you have one, I think we've lost a few people to the depths of No 1 already.

not much been said on here for a couple of days.
Karori carrying on their winning ways and keeping Tawa on their toes.
Can anybody on here tell me what kind of team Stop Out are putting out at the moment. Are they going to be dropping down players or trying to finish as high as possible?
I have heard and pretty sure am correct when i say that island bay have given up and dropping players down to there second team, so will be very understrength this week against Karori
I also hear that Lower Hutt are dropping down 1st team players to keep Lower Hutt (have to win there last 3 games to have a chance.
And what about Upper Hutt are they going to be dropping players down to there Cap 3 team to try and get promoted.
In other words are there going to be a lot of mixed results in the upcoming weeks because of teams trying to help out others in their club? People from these clubs your thoughts?

Karori firsts and ressies are playing each other - so should be interesting. Hopefully the Sharks will get smashed in both. I think Stop Out will swing both ways. Tawa one hand and a couple of fingers on the trophy

It has to be asked. Will anyone get dropped to help out the second teams beat their "superior" opposition..?

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I think there have already been a few 'dropees' last week, so could be up to 6 first teamers playing 2nd team if they stretch to the limits.

Where's the love for Naenae News?
Permalink Permalink

It's all about love for Naenae nomad.  if the Dreamers finish first or second the lads won't be relegated.  Of course I'd rather they sneak in ahead of Wests Ressies but chances seem slim when they still have the 'mar ressies to play. Hard News2009-07-28 14:53:08

I would def prefer nae to stay up ahead of any second team. always feel leagues and matches have more competitive vibe to them when your competing with club first teams. and less mickey mouse fiddling with players up and down all the time etc. will take some time to weed them all out of Cap Prem though.

(significant compensating factor is getting to play on Farrington, Bell, Endeavour rather than Kilbirnie or Naenae No 2)

I've been won over to the view that the 2nd tier competition shouldn't permit "reserve teams".

There are enough clubs in Wellington to run two "first team only" leagues and then start reserve teams from Cap 1 down.

Sounds like a good concept, what do you do when teams start getting promoted back up though?

And yes, yes and yes.... as much as it hurts me to do this... Go the Dreamers!!!! Karori could definitely have some club love coming to them if their seconds do the business!!

I've heard you've requested to play on No 1 this week as to feel more in your natural environment...

The threat of a rub from Hard News would be a pretty strong injury prevention measure I reckon.

Could be a new 2nd team in Cap Prem next season, Olympic could be going up.

Yea go back to the old capital premier days of having a reserve team grade that plays before the 1st team games on the same pitch or a close by pitch.
Altho that would mean that certain clubs who would go into the premier grade would have to strengthen their reserve teams, and it would also bring some below average grounds onto the fixture list, it would still probably have more positives than negatives and would also fix alot of the regrading of players problems we seem to have in wellington.

I'd go one step further Easty and make that an under 23 league that allows a maximum of 3 players over that age to play (to allow for first teamers coming back from injury).

A League have got the right idea.
