pull your head in for f**ks sake, it is the Wellington Premier League.

Here here Frankie. I've heard similar complaints made up here about officials or the grounds but really remember what level we are playing at here lads. It's social football really. A hobby not a living. Think it's important people remember that.

it dosnt matter what grade your playing aslong as your winning.

Guys, the game is over and done with. The referee made his decision and that is that. Crikey anyone would think you lost the world cup. We had a game against the mar where the referee gave us a penalty then turned around and said that it wasn't after complaints from the mar players. sh*t happens. That is football.
Referees make decisions rightly or wrongly. without tho we wouldn't have a game.
Lord knows I have given my share of gip to referees over the 20 odd years I have played senior football here. ay JAG. But we get on with things and worry about the next game.

Well obviously someone volunteered to do it to allow for a game between the two sides that week and should be commended for doing so not condemned.

Three for me, and two for them.

..but there was a referee and there was a game.

I thought this was all about  the linesman who obviously had absolutely no good reason whatsoever for not turning up for the game, and who should have been replaced anyway, even though the Refs Association may not even have known he wasn't going to be there, and despite the possible short notice and disruption to any other fixtures

Then there's the mysterious stranger who turned up, volunteered to run the line then did nothing at all until the last minute when, knowing the consequences, he made the decision to raise his flag, which the referee may or may not have taken any notice of, to maliciously cause uproar.  Let me know if I've missed anything.   Hmm.

Bottom line is that, doesn't matter if the linesmen are Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, the ref makes the final decision. He can over rule his Assistants if he feels the need to.

Wairarapa United will field the same starting line-up for their Capital Soccer premier division match with Western Suburbs in Wellington on Sunday as they did in their 2-0 victory over Upper Hutt City last weekend.

But impressive as they were on that occasion coach Phil Keinzley is adamant the competition leaders will need to produce an even better effort to secure victory against opposition fighting to retain their current status.

"We have to go another notch up, it could be the most difficult match we have had all season," Keinzley predicted. "They (Western Suburbs) are desperate to win and they have home advantage, it all points to a real toughie.

  "

Keinzley is also anticipating Western Suburbs having a good muster of their higher-graded central league side as part of their starting XI now they have no chance of winning the central league title.

Which means in turn that little should be read into the first round clash between the two sides which resulted in a comfortable Wairarapa United win.

"We're not even talking about what happened last time, I can't see it having any relevance at all on Sunday," Keinzley said.

Tactically, Wairarapa United are anticipating Western Suburbs adopting an attacking approach even allowing for the fact that ground conditions are sure to be heavy so their own emphasis will be very much on staying patient and composed.

"It's the sort of the game where we have to prepared to knock the ball around for long periods without really going anywhere, "Keinzley said. "The big thing is to retain possession so they can't feed off our mistakes."

The solidness of their midfield will dictate to a large degree just how successful Wairarapa United are in that respect with Miriek Tvaroh, Paul Gregory, Sakeo Valevou and Anton Ross needing to repeat the excellent form they showed last weekend when they all played with what could be best described as controlled aggression.

It will also be vital to the Wairarapa United cause that the service provided the likes of Pita Rabo and Seule Soromon in an attacking sense is good enough for them to exploit any weaknesses in a Western Suburbs defence which might at times be caught short on numbers because of their attacking philosophy.

The Wairarapa United seconds will be looking to bounce back from their 6-2 loss to Kapiti Coast United last weekend when they play Petone in a Capital third division match at the Pugh Sports Bowl tomorrow. Wairarapa United are currently seventh on the competition table with 14pts with Petone one place behind them on 13pts.

The knockout round continues in the Wairarapa championship tomorrow with the semi-finals seeing McAuleys Masterton up against Featherston at Hullena Park and Sports Arena Doug Villa playing Trevs Sports Masterton at the Park Sportsground.

Both games should be close affairs judging by their current standings in division one of the local league. Trevs Sports Masterton lead there with 33pts while Sports Arena Douglas is third with 30ts. At the other end of the scale are Featherston who are fifth with 6pts and McAuleys Masterton who are sixth with 5pts.

Wharfies 8
Island Bay 3

And Jimmy Hill did get three (crackers as well).

Pretty crazy game. 11 goals on a horrid, bumpy pitch in the freezing cold. First half was pretty tight. If anything Wharfies were a touch lucky to go in 2-1 up, but second half Wharfies killed IB (who were truly woeful at the back and not much better in the middle of the park). Some of the finishing from Wharfies was top draw.

Good results for relegation-risk sides today (wharfs, UH and Marist).

Hopefully, it means at least one 2nd team, and maybe two, gets relegated.

Nothing against either LH or Wests, but I think it adds something to CL when its contested by club first teams. Perfectly ok for 2nd teams to play CL if they qualify, just prefer they didnt!

With Wests beating Wairarapa today, its still all on in the Premier League. A win by Wairarapa today would really have put them in the drivers seat, but its still up for grabs now.

Wairarapa have 31 points from 15 games

IBU have 27 points from 16 games

Tawa 26 points from 14 games

So

Wairarapa can get to 40 points if they win their final three matches.

Tawa can get to 38 points if they win their final four matches.

IBU can get to 33 points if they win their final two matches.

Wairarapa have Lower Hutt at home next week, Marist away the week after and Marist at home at a date TBC.

IBU have Upper Hutt at home next week and Wests away the week after.

Tawa have Wharfies at home next week, Kapiti away the week after and Kapiti at home and Lower Hutt away at dates TBC.

Has anyone come up with an answer as to why Wests are allowed to have their games on a Sunday?

today they had Jon Rowe, Harahap, Ruper 'the Bear' Ryan and Darren Cheriton ffs.

Id like to know the answer to that as well. The league will always get distorted by clubs in CL dropping players down to play CPL, and that is probably unavoidable. But, permitting Wests to play their first and second teams on different days is basically an invitation for them to take the p!ss. It means the league's integrity is undermined more than it needs to be.

I watched Wests v Wairarapa yesterday (bloody Freezing), it was good game I think Wairarapa were the better team in the first half with West better in the second certainly after they went a goal up, nice goal to from J Rowe. Wests player of game had to be their GK kept Wests in the game crucial saves in both halves. Can't see Wairarapa missing out on the title, LH will stack their side for next week, and they still have Marist twice, I'm prdicting a min of 6 points.

Watched stop out vs wests on saturday. Wests had a young side on the park. I was wondering where Ryan and Cheriton were.  Makes sense now. Harahap came on as a second half sub, not to sure if Rowe played. If the squad numbers on capital soccer are anything to go by then he did play against stop out

Yes.

All clubs get the choice at the start of the season.  I believe Capital Football send out a letter.

I was speaking to a Lower Hutt man this morning and he said that next year they're going to review their decision from this year and look at playing their Reserves either in the 12.30 slot or on Sunday.

Conspiracy theory: smashed.

Conspiracy or not, that doesn't necessarily mean its a good policy.

Im sure there are reasons why this option is offered, maybe it is to do with grounds, but I think it seriously undermines the integrity of CPL, which is a shame.

I dont remember getting offered Sunday games to I'll call bs on that one Smithy.. You get offered the chance for your seconds to play before your firsts.
Why do they need to play on Sundays? I agree with the Rapa -as it gives a chance for everyone to watch footy over the hill - not at Wests though

wests probably wouldnt survive if they didnt play on a sunday.

1. half there bench is college players who cant make it on saturday on time
2. they would drop down grades at the rate of a boeing 747 with a hole in the side of it, because they wouldnt be able to drop all there central league players down.

its  bull - capital football should never have allowed it
