Scoring after 30 seconds wharfies should have  had  the game won with more good scoring chances not taken, but island bay came back well. Sending off was plain stupid from the wharfies keeper, and he probably cost them the game.Stand in keeper play well, and even with 10 men wharfies control the game but couldn't score.  Well done Petone, well deserve winners

What was the Warfies keeper sent off for? Was it his pink jersey? Or just his usual loud mouth antics?

Its no longer a problem.

He picked up the ball and then raised up his arms towards the striker who kept running toward him. Straight red was a joke + a penalty. Just the usual crap we get served up.

Interesting to hear that Jamieson beat up a player and didnt get sent.

all keepers are nuts.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I'd vouch for that :-) You have to be a bit crazy to be a keeper. I've done much worse and had the striker booked for charging me. Keepers get away with so much but occasionally, if you do push it a bit far, then it will hit the fan. Refs are generally against sending off a keeper. I've only ever had 3 yellows in 22 years of footy, two were for back chat. I'm sure I've deserved much more (often my own teams mates were trying to get me sent off) LOL.

Its no longer a problem.

Craziest Keeper i ever played with was Andrew Pegler (Marist) - certifiably mental.

No word on that ...

But i did hear that following Saturday's fracas and violence at Wakefield Park, Capital Soccer has decided to disestablish Waterside Karori.

I doubt you'll get any Petone players on here gloating. The job is only half done for them. Having droppped a silly few games recently I imagine they will be focusing on the playoffs and getting back to good form. Even if Central League is axed, they will still want to prove a point.

Its no longer a problem.

United enhance prospects for second-place finish

30.07.2007

BY GARY CAFFELL

Wairarapa United enhanced their prospects of finishing second in the Capital Soccer premier division competition when they beat Lower Hutt City 4-2 at Lower Hutt on Saturday.

The win took Wairarapa United to fifth position on the points table and while most other teams will play their last games next weekend Wairarapa United still have three matches to complete. Win all three and second is a definite possibility.

Saturday's victory was a hard-fought affair with Wairarapa United dominating the first five minutes to such an extent that about the first time Lower Hutt touched the ball was when their 'keeper picked a shot from Pita Rabo out of the back of the net.

For the remainder of the first half though Lower Hutt, which had gone six matches without defeat, applied constant pressure on the Wairarapa United defences with a Costa Rican "import" making several penetrative runs.

However, Wairarapa United kept their goal intact and went to the halftime break still 1-0 ahead.

The second half saw Wairarapa United benefit from a change to a 3-5-2 format and they added three goals to their tally, all of them to Rabo, while conceding two.

It was Sakeo Valevou who provided the through pass to Rabo for the first of these Wairarapa United goals and the second came after a similarly well-judged pass from Merick Tvaroh. The third was a piece of Rabo magic. He robbed a Lower Hutt defender off the ball and slotted it into the net.

Both Rabo and his fellow striker Andy Robertson made a big impression on the game with their high workrates and Guiseppe Cugliari made such a decent job of marking the Costa Rican in the second half that he was forced to leave the field.

why are the match reports never up so quick when Wharfies lose?

Good point Frankie - Still no match report v Island Bay on the Warfies web site?

That Wairarapa report is just brilliant provincial journalism isn't it?  He obviously wasn't at the game and couldn't even be bothered finding out the name of the "Costa Rican" (who I'm guessing was Roy Clark).

Imagine if all the newspaper reports from this side of the hill called the Wairarapa players "the Fijian", "the second Fijian", "the third Fijian" and "the other Fijian", as well as "the Czech in midfield".

He definitly wasnt at the game! hes written that it was at Lower hutt when it was in wairarapa, haha. All it needed to say was Rabbo was magic and the difference between the two teams on the day and that Jameison is an idiot and has mental issues!Easty172007-07-31 09:36:33

When would the promotion/relagation games start? The week following the last game? Could someone inform me? Cheers

Well given that the Prem game between Rapa v UH is postponed (due to Fijians being on national dty which I think sounds dodgy anyway) - the Rapa v Wharfies game will be no earlier that Aug 25th - so surely they will have to wait till after that...

well i played my 6th game as keeper on saturday and got a yellow for not giving the ref the ball so he could place it at my feet!! looked like he was 14 so maybe he was just stamping his dominance on the game

Hes going well. You can really tell how much higher he is then anybody else. How he reads the game etc. Had sore back last week but was still carving up the pitch. His 1st goal was a good one on the weekend from about 25yards out.

Hey, go easy on Gary C, the amount of time that he spends on all sports in the Rappa is brilliant, in this case, he maybe got caught out, cos the Rugby Finals were on at the same time, and maybe your flash City papers can afford to have reporters at all games, but that is not the case up here, if you had read Garys write up when the Phoenix were up here, and I saw him at the game, so he was there, it was great, and if you ever got such good Football coverage in Wellington like he gave in that write up,and also what he gives week in week out to Wairarapa United and the Premier League you would be doing handstands.......I tell you this guy is all right.

I have read two of his recent write-ups and both times he referred to "the goal circle"!

Credit to him for being at the odd game but he should at least know what the box is.

No handstands here country boy.

And Its fair to say hes a little bit of a wairarapa fan, it kind of shows through in his articles if you know what I mean. Yea good on him for beeing there and atleast gettin some football exposure out there. Hes alrite in my books to, but I would agree with finisher and say that if hes gonna be writting football articles then he should probably learn a little more about the game.
