We actually played Palmerston North Marist in 2005 losing 2-0 the colonel Halstead got a brace. This was after we had defeated North Wellington 1-0 up at Alex Moore when they were still in the upper echelons of Wellington football. PN Marist went on to make the final against Central United losing 2-1. Was a hilarious trip away especially for young impressionable lads from Naenae!

waitemata lost 4-1 to sports was a closer game than the score indicates

Waitemata played some good football at times but just couldn't quite finish the chances they created.

Just got back from the game of the round and one of the best I've witnessed, Ngaruawahia 5 North Shore 4, Narra went 2-0 up early only to quickly be back at 2-2, second half went by without incident until Tim Kautai scored in the 89th minute, but North Shore then went down the other end to send it into extra time.

Ngarua dominated extra time, got up 5-3, but even then North Shore made it exciting with a late one, but finally the greens held on for the victory, great game all round. Sorry if anyone following me on twitter had their feed spammed!

I hate football.... (today).

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

danko

Tade

Japanese fullback

Mario Bilen

Stephen Carmichal

Ricki Van Steeden

they all played and are in the 2012/2013 Auckland City team list.

Plus the following players were on their team list for this game - not sure if they played today or not

Dean Lausev

David Browne

Josh Morrison

Andrew Milne

+ Milos Nickolic from Waitakere.

so at least 7 ASB premiership players - 6 from Auckland City.

Probably would have been Ivan and Jacob had they not been in camp with NZA as well.

Goals aplenty at Wakefield this arvo. A fired up Brooklyn scored 2 goals in the first 10 minutes - punishing two silly mistakes. Always felt like there were goals in it for Island Bay though and Elliot Collier finished nicely after some quick moves on the edge of the box. Brooklyn grabbed another almost straight away but Alex Palezevic picked out the top corner from a lay off to make it 3-2 at half time.

Second half was all one way traffic with IBU keeper not making a save and possession firmly dominated by IBU. James Wypych scored early in the second half to bring the score level at 3-3 but too many chances were missed until the last ten minutes when Desmond Mitchell tapped in, Collier finished another then banged in a Peno and then set up Wypych for a tap in. 7-3 final result.

Bring on the next round.

Carmichael and van Steeden are marginal calls purely because they have not had a run this year (or perhaps gotten near the bench).

Lausev? Morrison?

Milos...? *chortle* Did Nathan Palmer and Sean Dowling play for you guys cause if you are calling Milos national league, then Dowling and Palmer are too.

Spoonley has been bench riding for Central and Ivan is normally a Central player so had they played, it would have just been a return to their normal club.

Uhlman. Not ACFC anymore and hasn't been for 2 years. Again, normally a Central player so...

(I am not one to defend ACFC but in this case....)

I think the point remains - great job from Ellerslie to cause a big upset and give us our first big Auckland side knocked out this year.

Heard Fallons mob got dumped 3-0 by Fencies. Thats a massive upset. John Davidson must be pulling whats left of his teeth out seeing this club fall on hard times.

Carmichael youth team player never played 1st team
Van Steeden never played a single minute
Uhlmann 1 game at Manawatu hardly counts
Just because on list doesnt mean they played for ACFC
Just enjoy your win without talking it up,
How many Chatham Cups has your club won by the way???
Good luck in the next round

well if you ask me on today's efforts Van Steeden and possibly Carmichael shouldn't be in ASB premiership - at the end of the day all those players were named in Auckland city's team list for this season so even if they played or not is immaterial.

I'm not for one second trying to say we beat a full strength Auckland City team but i am suggesting that they took this fixture seriously enough to bring back some big guns and still were not able to win.

Milos played for Waitakere this year - Dowling hasn't played ASB for years and Nathan last played in 2011.

Spoonley and Ivan are moot points as they didn't play.

I'm going to make the assumption you are also an ACFC fan so I find that line quite hilarious. Humility starts at home.

R&C don't get testy mate - a cheeky comment that you have taken way to seriously.

We have never won a cup - stoked to beat the holders no matter who played.
