Game in Nelson abandoned by officials at half time with Waimakariri leading 2-0. Ground was water logged in parts which made playing football a lottery. Conditions never really changed at all in the first half so you would have to ask either why they started at all or they did not play the second half.

From Chatham Cup regulation 9.2:
In the event that a match is abandoned then the decision as to whether the match is replayed will rest solely with the relevant District Federation or NZF where applicable and will have due regard to the reason for the abandonment, the time of the abandonment and the score. This decision will be final and not subject to appeal.

From NZF
The four third round matches in the ASB Chatham Cup that were abandoned due to weather conditions will be replayed in full, New Zealand Football has confirmed.
Heavy rain around the country forced play to be cut short in two matches in Auckland, one in Nelson as well as preventing any play in Dunedin due to waterlogged grounds making the pitches unplayable and raising match officials’ concern for player safety.
Caversham’s much anticipated derby against local rival Dunedin Technical was the first casualty followed by Nelson College’s match against Waimak United with the visitors leading 2-0.
Glenfield Rovers, who had earlier lost home advantage when their game was moved to a neutral ground, were trailing Birkenhead United 3-0 early in the second half when their match was abandoned and even Ellerslie’s artificial turf was unplayable by halftime where they were locked 1-1 with Waitakere City.
New Zealand Football’s Competitions Manager Chris Kemp says the decision to replay each game in full was made in the interest of fairness and consistency.
“The regulations leave it up to the discretion of the governing body and we took a common sense approach,” said Kemp.
“Given there was still a good deal of time to play in every match, one match had already been transferred to another ground and one was called off completely, replaying each match in full was the appropriate decision.”
Kemp also indicated New Zealand Football was working with Mainland Football and Waimak United to remove the cost of travel for the Canterbury’s club return to Nelson.
The fourth round draw will still go ahead as schedule tomorrow at 2pm.

IBU v Olympic was a cracking game. Both teams could have won it twice over. IBU with the better first half, but Olympic came home stronger in the 2nd half and was only a matter of time until they scored.
Then checked out Tawa V Palmy Marist.
Seemed like a pretty even cam for most of it. Plamy bit more clinical up front and tawa a bit suspect at the back at times. Massive holes in midfield from both side.
As I kept telling people, when you've got a team that has traveled from Christchurch to Nelson, surely your first priority is making sure the game goes ahead. Rescheduling it will be an absolute nightmare. I was surprised it was called off seeing as 45 minutes had been played. Nelson College play Nayland College on Thursday to see who qualifies top for secondary school nationals from the Nelson/Marlborough area, so they've already got a busy week.
You can keep telling people whatever you like but as you dont control the weather youre wasting your breath.
That Nelson College are playing Nayland College on Thursday is no concern of NZF and wont be taken into account when they reschulde the replay.
The games are likely to be next weekend 22nd/23rd as the next round is due to be played on the weekend after 29th/30th.

Just on the IBU/Oly game.
1) Massive props to Jamie O'conner, who instead of running off to celebrate with his teams members when the last penalty was saved, he went and shook hands with the IBU team first.
2) Not sure which IBU player had their penalty, but the followed up the rebound by launching it down adelaide road from 3 yards. Good lolz.
This weekend has reminded me how much I love the Cup.
Both games I watched were entertainment.
Big ups to Mike Stephenson who I thought did a great job of a tough game on Saturday night.
As a result it was awesome entertainment. I agree with everything Dale said above. Either team could have won it. I thought Island Bay were awesome at the back end of the first half. I particularly liked Alex Palezevic & Elliot Collier.
The Bubbles are always fun to watch. Mikey Halikias must almost be ready for Masters but he has a sweet left peg and is always good value for a tackle.
Today's game was a mud bath. Bell Park is ready for the knackery.
To both teams' credit they tried to knock it about. Lower Hutt mostly through Haillemareman (?). They definitely missed Big Watto.
Karori will be pleased on reflection. They can concentrate on the league and now know that they can match it with central league opposition.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
I don't think so...
Why can't you appeal NZF decisions? Doesn't sit right with me that.
Three for me, and two for them.

Still think there should be a right to appeal, even if it turns out frivilous. Are we not a democracy?

fair enough - it would just slow the process down though - i know how you feel though.
Anyway decision has been made of course and have to live with it. Hopefully we just batter them next week and move on to the last 16. Best of luck for your replay too!

i personally think it's the right call - the reg's are there for if the game is abandoned for reasons such as injury or having less than the minimum amount of players - in those cases they would look at leaving the result as it was.
If you were to continue today's game (BIKvGLF or ELLvWTK) what if there was a player who was playing at the time of the abandonment that was unable to play at the rescheduled time, what do you do then?
If the game is at a new field (say Taharoto is not available at the rescheduled time) then who plays which way, do you toss a coin?
too many issues getting the game exactly what is was when it was called off.
It is harsh on BUAFC with such a large scoreline but it would indicate that they can do it again in the re-match - if they don't then that's cup football!
The way I read it back to square one, with any of the abandon game in effect get to kick off so player line-up can be altered and any cards that were issued will not stand.

May 25 2005:
AC Milan vs Liverpool FC
1min: AC 1-0 (Maldini)
39min: AC 2-0 (Crespo)
44min: AC 3-0 (Crespo)
And then after 53min it rained so badly the game was called off and awarded to AC Milan. They were far the better side and Liverpool were dead and gone.
Not advocating that result should have stood at 3-0, and interestingly, most Birkenhead supporters I have talked to feel the same.
However, a bit rich of organisers to use the word "fair" when saying match will be replayed from start at 0-0. Where is fairness in removing clear advantage gained by one team and forcing them to start from scratch ?
Claim I am making is that organisers have taken soft option in deciding all matches to be replayed from start.
If full replays, so be it, but don't hide behind excuse of that being "fairest option" when that is clearly a crock...

Yeah that makes the decision completely fair.
Cock.
Er...I don't believe I insulted you. But you have just insulted yourself - puked on yourself and shit yourself no less. Whinging that it's not fair because the game has to be replayed from zero minutes is mind-boggling. What the fuck are you on about? It'sneither fair nor unfair. It's called football. To suggest Glenfield couldn't have fought back from 3-0 down to win the game derides everything that most football supporters love about the game, i.e., it's not over 'till the fat lady sings. So go on, give us a tune.
Glenfield should carry on from 3-0 down then if they're that confident they would have come back into it.
Great point that JV makes too. A dirty cunt like Cory Hitchen could have chopped someone and broken their leg yesterday (he did his best effort to tbh) and got sent yet could play in the replay while the injured player misses out.
Three for me, and two for them.
Any justice next week Birko will stick about 9 past Glenfield.

Agreed that Bell Park made it difficult to play football, but I don't think I have ever been so bored at a game of football than I was yesterday. Both teams happy to pass it around the back a bit, then lump it into the channels. No goalmouth action, I don't think either keeper made more than 2 saves, and I don't think that either team deserved to win. I died a little when it went to extra time as it meant another 30 mins I was going to have to watch, and I think that if it went to penalties it probably would have finished 1-0 (after 8 penalties each).

It also wouldnt be fair to re-start the match from where it was stoped for so many reasons. If you dont agree with the rules dont enter the competition.
Football mirrors life. Lifes not fair, get over it.
