Chatham Cup 2013 - #90yearsofglory

The point I was making is calling Milos a 'national league footballer'. He might have played but he is not a national league footballer. Hell I'd take Rory Turner and Kris Bright over that guy.

Well done Ellerslie.

Three for me, and two for them.

fair enough - i guess i was simply basing the numbers on who was in the team rather than ability - far more quantifiable.

Milos was good today though - constant threat!

We have never won a cup - stoked to beat the holders no matter who played.

Then why bring it up?
Doubt it was a question of bringing the big guns in?
All bar Bilen played for Central last year
You said it yourself you've never won FA

wow - clearly you don't have a sense of humour..

If you want an argument mate then that's cool - i can wank on about stuff as well - i just prefer not to.

it's completely irrelevant who played for central last year - it's well known Central packed their team last year to win the cup and players do have to have played something like two games before they are eligible for CC so if you try and say they played in the league then yeah got that covered.

essentially i don't have a problem with them bringing the players back - if they can good on them - i guess some way back in another thread when you mentioned something about Ellerslie not having players who could play at ASB premiership level needs looking at dosn't it.

btw if all your going to base your argument on is that you have won it and we havn't then this is going to be a very painful conversation.

Read your regulations the 2 game rule is no longer in them. Would really expect a senior club official to be aware of that??

And one cup win doesnt mean your players are good enough for ASBP

You won with an Own goal and Central had loads of chances but thats cup football

And its only painful for you that Ellerslie have never won anything

As i said well done on the win

Good luck in next round

you mean these regs

7.4. Club player eligibility

7.4.1. In all matches of this competition, each player, except where he has played for his club during the previous season and has not played in any match for any other club in New Zealand during the current season, must have been registered with his club for fifteen (15) days prior to the playing of any match in the competition.

Sorry should have been clearer - 15 days (which usually encapsulates two games) - being a bit picky there.

if you read what i said i didn't say they should be in the ASBP - i just said your statement needed looking at - winning this game against Central (yes central not Auckland City) means nothing if we don't kick on and have an extended cup run.

Yeah it's a bit of a pain we have never won it and we would love to have the resources and quality that Central can call on - that has nothing to do with this game though and essentially it's a moot point.

i don't know why your so wound up about it - i was just being tongue in cheek about the whole central/ACFC thing and it seems to have struck a nerve.

Yes those regs easy to find well done!!
And yes agree means nothing as I said several times good luck just dont talk it up you never played Auckland City it was Central Utd with a few ACFC players
Will you say the same thing when if you beat Bay Olympic or Waitak City or even Ham Wands all of whom have several ASBP players in the squads?

Its not a thread worth rehashing hence why I only referenced it. I have no problems with a wind up mate (and I am not a fan of either Ellerslie, Central or ACFC) but if you give it, you gotta take it - just as Chopah did.
Regardless, today was Ellerslies' day. I see Miramar got dumped as well? Wonder who the favourites are now because those 2 usually are.

thanks - i thought i found them pretty quickly actually :-)
mate - if your trying to dumb down the ACFC link to Central then your pushing shit uphill - time will tell how important this win is to us, but i can promise you the loss was of huge importance to your team - that maybe shows how much of a big deal it was.
to be honest if we draw Bay Olympic or Waitakere or even Wanderers (or Birko) and they play between 5 and 7 ASBP players and we beat them then yeah i will be pretty happy.

Ok - well i assume your both a Central utd fan and an ACFC fan based on your knowledge of both to this point.
As a fan of both i would be interested to see of the players who were regular starters for ACFC (Danko, Tade, Japanese left back and Bilen) what did you think of their performances today?

You've got a nice young team and I hope you can stay up this year. An extra year experience and perhaps maybe a stronger striker and a new CB (the tall lad is a liability) will make a difference. Some of them do commit some seriously dumb fouls and do look like they struggle with some of the teams/physicality and refs that have been at that level for a while but then this team came up from Div 1 pretty much intact so I would expect it might take a little time for those boys to grow into this level. I don't think I would be backing you against the 4 teams you named but its refreshing to see a team thats been built rather than bought.

yeah this year is a massive learning experience and we do seem to give away some fouls when we shoudn't - all part of the learning experience.  I agree we would be underdogs in those above fixtures but i give us a chance in every game we play, i don't feel we have been blown off the park in any game this year.  we do need some points to show for that though, so we must improve.

I saw the game against ECB (and we caught 15 of another game but can't remember the opposition) and you were in it until the half and then your lads struggled when ECB upped it. I think that experience would make a difference. Your CB cost you the game in that he gave away too many fouls in silly places and got dragged out of position way too easily. Then he got himself sent off with a seriously dumb foul which... well experience would fix that but you learn.

Central Utd is not Auckland City

thanks - i thought i found them pretty quickly actually :-)

mate - if your trying to dumb down the ACFC link to Central then your pushing shit uphill - time will tell how important this win is to us, but i can promise you the loss was of huge importance to your team - that maybe shows how much of a big deal it was.

to be honest if we draw Bay Olympic or Waitakere or even Wanderers (or Birko) and they play between 5 and 7 ASBP players and we beat them then yeah i will be pretty happy.

quick question did you actually watch the game today?

Yes

Ok - well i assume your both a Central utd fan and an ACFC fan based on your knowledge of both to this point.

As a fan of both i would be interested to see of the players who were regular starters for ACFC (Danko, Tade, Japanese left back and Bilen) what did you think of their performances today?

Well it does seem to be a night for assumptions!

Danko good game worked very hard in 2nd half

Iwatu good going forward struggled a little at the back

Bilen Piss poor

Tade poor finishing cost Central the game

pretty honest assesment actually.

Not too difficult to call after seeing the game
Ellerslie best players 7, 8 and Wallace no one did much apart from these 3
Although the 12 made 2 great runs before going off early

You've got a nice young team and I hope you can stay up this year. An extra year experience and perhaps maybe a stronger striker and a new CB (the tall lad is a liability) will make a difference. Some of them do commit some seriously dumb fouls and do look like they struggle with some of the teams/physicality and refs that have been at that level for a while but then this team came up from Div 1 pretty much intact so I would expect it might take a little time for those boys to grow into this level. I don't think I would be backing you against the 4 teams you named but its refreshing to see a team thats been built rather than bought.

Yes Bay Olympic splashing the cash around again

Thats status quo whereever Knowlesy goes. Probably too late for this years title - maybe the cup.

Grumpy old bastard alert

I saw the game against ECB (and we caught 15 of another game but can't remember the opposition) and you were in it until the half and then your lads struggled when ECB upped it. I think that experience would make a difference. Your CB cost you the game in that he gave away too many fouls in silly places and got dragged out of position way too easily. Then he got himself sent off with a seriously dumb foul which... well experience would fix that but you learn.

yeah that game was disappointing in how it played out - for what it's worth the "dumb foul" at the end was discussed at length around the table up at the club later with both Ellerslie and ECB supporters and it was a pretty even split about it's valdility (some EAFC fans thought it was and some ECB fans thought it wasn't) seems the angle was crucial to your point of view on the incident - having said that if the call wasn't made then we still did struggle when ECB upped the ante in the second half, but we still had chances in that game to steal a point.
Yep experience would solve that for the most part.
FYI - the tall CB had a stormer of the game today - not sure RC will agree with me but i thought he played really well.
