They have to fine united for using addidas balls as the ref will have done his duty and noted it on the card and then CF have to go back and fine all the clubs they have missed for other infringements which require a fine after they have fined a club for the same offence. One law one rule same penalty.
so what changes do you propose?

I've clearly missed something, why would welly united get fined for using their balls?

The boys at Football Central sponsor the league under Lotto, not good form to use Adidass Ball whenyou are required to use sponsors balls. Hogster2011-07-15 20:35:37

Island Bay 3 Wests 3
Wests very lucky to get the draw. IB were far superior today.
3-2 to IB with 5 to go. IB keeper red carded. Penalty. 3-3. Game over.

That's a big point for Wests.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Late winners are the mark of a side that will win the league...and all those predictions about UH doing this in doddle look just as boggy as the Kilbirnie pitch. UH will have their excuses I'm sure, but from what I saw they lacked a player to take the game by the scuff of its ugly neck.

Exciting game between welly united and stop out which was somewhat ruined by a terrible pitch but huge result. But stop out are a top team with some good players and i'd say those 2 teams are the best footballing teams in the league and it would have been a much better spectacle on the artificial.

Perfect day for welly united though, makes the league a 2 horse race you would have to say. How did marist manage that result on the artificial?

So ah, chalk up another red Tony J...how many is that now

Lino at the Stop out WU game probably made the worst peno call I have ever seen to make it 2-1. I have to mention it because I would have if we'd lost!

Fuck this stupid game

Marist played the Hutt on Kilbirnie Poolfan. Which explains the result somewhat but still it's a bit crazy. UH must've just underestimated 'em aye?

Very very controversial decision to send TJ, and give a penalty in the IBU game. Plus IBU should've been up too many for it not to matter.
Absolutely gutting, especially after seeing the UH result!

Easily the best 2 footballing teams in the league I agree Pooly.

I wonder what Miramar team will turn up at harcourt Park next week? Calcoot will hold the answer to that.

lino's don't make penalty calls....thats the refs job....sounds like a SOFT foul, that occur in the box but that.... = penalty.......if the same foul had happen outside of the box NO one would give a toss

If they end up even it might come down to who can pump the most goals in v Wests (provided their first team is still in the race for the CL title)...

Nah the ref thought the challenge was fine, let the game play on but then noticed the lino waving his plag = the lino calling the peno. It wasn't a soft foul in the box it was a legitimate tackle = no peno.

A plag is a flag btw.TopLeft072011-07-16 19:52:08

So we can figure from these results this weekend

The title is still quite wide open, but in reality should be between Welly U and Upper Hutt

Wests have definitely started dropping some players (based more on their first team getting pumped 5 nil by Palmy Marist), but they still have some of the regulars in there (Finch scoring).

And Marst beating UH (this probably deserves a bullet pointed list)
  • Kilbernie park is a shocker - but it's getting a bit old that WE get blamed for it being that way, it's a council ground, it's not like we graze cows on it (even though it looks like it). You can mostly blame the egg ball tards for warming up on it if games are cancelled!
  • The goal - as a keeper I don't see how it stands. The UH keeper punted the ball into the back of our striker (who was walking away), our striker rolls the ball into the empty net. But the ref gave it
  • The ref didn't have a great day - seemed to go with whoever politely yelled the loudest. And often watched the ball, and missed a lot of late off the ball stuff.
  • UH dominated position, and played the better football. But it's not like I pulled off 20 great saves in goal, they didn't do much with the balls
  • There were two late penalty calls for UH - I couldn't tell, they goal mouth melees. I was just flailing around in goal like usual
  • A draw would of probably been a fair result, based on the whole game. But like Karori early in the season, we will take any points we can get.
Hope that was unbiased enough

Re the goal.  Laws of the game say...
An indrect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if, in the opnion of the refeee, a players:
- Prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from his hands.

So I guess it depends how far away the striker was, and where the keeper shanked his kick.

From what lastnomad said, the Marist player did not prevent the goalkeeper from releasing the ball, he just benefited from the keeper's incompetence.

From my view of the incident may the Marist player (to use a rugby term) could have been called a 'lazy runner'. He was making a nuisance of himself, but no-one could have been more surprised than he that the keeper went and booted the ball into him.

Why would the Marist player be surprised? He stepped in front of the keeper twice while the keeper was kicking the ball, so it wasn't a mistake! Capital Football need to look at the quality of the pitches and the refs that they want to use in the higher grades. In order to have quality football there needs to be quality pitches and quality refs for NZ's football to grow. UPPER HUTT2011-07-18 11:22:37

UH play Mar this weekend - who dont have a CL game. hmm. Then again Mar would prefer UH to go to CL (over Wgtn Utd who are more their player market)

Well perhaps you had a better view than me - I was on the other side of half-way. I didn't say it was a mistake I'm saying initially it looked like he was being a pest (and could well have been penalised by some refs) and then turned away before the ball was kicked. Overall it looked a bit of a Minties moment from the UH keeper from where I was standing.

I was standing in line with the UH goalkeeper by the clubrooms, and whilst the Marist striker was definitely being a bit of a lazy runner, he had turned away from the goalkeeper, and he was making his way back down the pitch - albeit slowly - in a straight line.

Seems to me that the UH goalkeeper took a risk that the ref would make the call that the Marist player was interfering with him playing the ball, and unfortunately for him, it didn't work out in his favour.

You cannot penalise a player who has his back turned and is walking away - he is clearly not trying to prevent the goalkeeper from re-starting play. This is not a free kick type situation where the opposition players have to retreat 10 yards from the spot of the restart.

how does this work?wests 1sts play on a saturday all season, while their 2nds play on a sunday, for their benefit!!wests 2nds are bottom of premier in a battle for relegation with wainui and marist. yet looking at the draw for this weekend their 2nds are away to marist on saturday, yet wests 1st team are at home to tawa, but game scheduled for SUNDAY!!how can this be, obviously they are going to stack the 2nds even more to try and keep them up.is this fair??

Maybe, just maybe he could have been penalised just before he turned is back though....and don't you love how such a weird incident may be THE defining incident of the season for UH; I hope not though!

Draw was made in March though so there would have been no way of knowing. I'm fairly sure other teams might drop players too

i realise draw done back in march, my point is all of a sudden why this week has wests 1st team been allowed to play their home game v tawa on a sunday, when all year in the draw they have played at home on a saturday??have they been allowed by capital football to change to suit their 2nds for this week only??
