If the posts are true, and if they make the team, we'll see on Saturday - won't we.

Paterson was half the player he replaced at best. Very average.

UH were't pretty but they executed their game plan better than we did, and we were terrible compared to last week and our standards before that. Emi missed four sitters for example. I can see UH losing again this season so I think the league is still well alive, as this league has been at this stage in the past few years.

Well played Upper Hutt though, they were well up for it.

Fuck this stupid game

Agreed, bit of a choke by united you would have to say. Didnt take their chances at all, conversion rate was horrible.

Connor, Ben Fredrickson and Billy someone? Miramar goalie made a few amazing saves from Connor. The older guys from Miramar are pretty solid huh? Fifi not making the cut there either?

The older guys are VERY solid - sheesh Mike Smith was on the score sheet I see, and that guy can control the whole game when they play him in midfield like he seems to for the reserves; Brook Tozer can also play for sure when he wants to. But some of the younger guys are players to look out for IMO: Becker, Mortar, Wiechern and the big centre back (noone seems to even know who he is or where he came from-his name wasn't in the match programme when I saw him!) are all 19/20 still. And I've seen Fifi play a couple of times for the CL side; I don't think he's played for the reserves yet. The keeper? Was it the new American guy?

The tall centre back could be Chris Conway? has played for mar reserves for some time. he's 23 btw

Mike Smith and Rupert are pretty dominant with possession huh? They Keep the ball real well and we ended up doing a lot of chasing.  Still I thought we could have scored a couple too.

Couldn't tell if the keep was american or not.

Yeah I know Conway and it's good to see him playing again because he wasn't playing at the start of the year. But there's another kid who's quite a bit younger; someone said he was in the initial NZ-20 squad but got injured. I don't know who he is and I know that age group quite well. I think he must be from outside of Wellington. I saw him play once and he really stood out to me; reminded me of a young Ben Sigmund - needs a bit of work technically but big and fast and tough.Toffeeman662011-06-27 19:34:31

I've always been a big fan of Michael Smith; I think with a bit more luck he could have been an All White.

Wainui dominated this game it could have been 5 or 6 nil. Olympic never looked like scoring, they were more concerned at moaning at the referee, it got fairly tiresome

I'm able to answer my own question now because I asked someone at the club. They do have a 19 yr old centre back called Jude Fitzpatrick who came from Auckland at the start of the year but has been injured. I googled him and he was at Mt Albert Grammar and Three Kings so hopefully Auckland's loss is Wellington's gain

With Mar beating the Bubbles in Central League today that's Wests effectively out of the Central League title race, so I would imagine from here on out we will see a stackathon. Jenga ftw.Smithy2011-07-03 23:28:17

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
