Anyone know how to access the Player Clearances page on the federation website now; or when we will be able to?

Mainland shut up shop on 22/12/17 until 22/1/18. They advised all clubs they'll switch on the new system when they are back on deck. No transfers / on-line registrations possible until then.

Two calander months to the start of the MPL for 2018 - 17 March. Selwyn making their debut, with the 8 clubs playing over 14 rounds to find the top five that will then split off to contest the South Island League.

Anyone seen a final draw?

Heard Friday Night Footy may be a 'gone burger', anyone confirm.

Well no Friday football will be a plus, was a stupid idea for a winter sport with the awful lighting at English Park.

English Park is a sick dog waiting to be put down imo.

I bloody loved Friday Night Football. Meant the players who never got to see the MPL play as they are on at the same time could come and watch. It was a wicked atmosphere too, I would hate to see it go.

Training now underway for teams in MPL, welcome aboard Selwyn.

Sounds like there will be plenty of moverment of MPL players between clubs again for the coming season.

Hear talk and one of the most talked about players from the CCL (not a Selwyn player) may be turning out in the MPL.

I assume every MPL club is committed to SIL if they finish top 5. Is this something that has has been formally agreed by all, as a condition of entry or whatever?

Would assume so as isn't the cost for the SIL 'covered' by the entry fee in to the respective Premier League and the two Federations so 'nil' cost for the eight teams that qualify for the SIL.

Wouldn't be the standout in chang would it be. Have heard whispers of some movement into a ccl club which should make them even stronger than last year

Chang leaving would definitely strengthen that particular CCL club

Too many cryptic comments going on here, this forum is built on rumour, hearsay and #fakenews.

Here's the rumours I've heard.

  1. Michael White to Bays
  2. Junior Ginge will join Senior Ginge the coach at Bays
  3. Stu Kelly to Chch Utd
  4. Danny Boys to Western
  5. Fuego to support Parklands

Apparently known that 2 Mpl winning players from bays off to halswell, possibly third. Another couple from another mpl club seen at trainings. Wonder how western are going, will they initially find it difficult as halswell did last year

Nomads start pre season training next Tuesday, could be an interesting watch just to see how many of last years MPL team don't front up.

According to my Boss sauce Nomads will be without two previous MPL winners and clubs POYs from the last two seasons.

To clarify;

Players have left the reigning MPL Champs for a CCL side?

Heard Vim likes a bit of off field action so not surprised with #5 :)

Have heard rumours of a number of other fringe players from the club looking at CCL teams too so either Bays have a big influx of new players or they are to replace a lot of their fringe/reserve players

This quote probably needs to be on the CCL thread with Christchurch Utd tagged in it :)

Not mid 30s, not talking masters age players.

Don't think you get paid for playing Div1 or lower unless you played SSL in the mid/late 70s early 80s. Oh hang on Canterbury United these days pay for that quality of player don't they. Shoot that's harsh on the Sunday League boys some of them had skill, vision and could score goals.

Although one of the Nomads boys looking for a change is still being called [before Xmas anyway] by the Coastal coach with money on offer to play for the east side club.

Could be that Ekow maybe calling again if he gets wind of this.

Is Glenn coaching FC20 again?

I know we’re yet to see how squads are shaping up but anyone think

South Island League won’t be Bays, Nelson, Tech, Coastal, FC20?

Understand that Glenn is still the gaffer at FC2011.

One of these is apparently Christchurch's own Tim Howard; Adam Highfield.  Will be sad not to see/hear him scream at his defence in the MPL.

That is the mail I had also, along with peers. 2 strong additions, along with young striker from fc who I believe is also headed that way

Gonna be a crazy CCL next year I reckon, with Western, Chch Utd and Halswell all going hard to get up. Guessing it will those three at the top and Parklands, Waimak and Burwood slugging it out (lol....) at the bottom.

Now halswell converting players to play for cash. Peers and Highfield dont play for free. Desperate times, you would have to pay a fair bit to get some quality players to go play and train at halswell domain. I wonder if the stalwarts of the club would be getting a backhand to play?

But nobody pays players! Or were u at bays with inside knowledge? Sounds like yet another yarn

They are likely getting paid something just like alot of players in Christchurch and all over the country. It seems George King to Tech will be the highest paid though. Wow
