Mainland Premier League

This would mean the CCL would need restructuring too as currently everyone plays each other 4 times (which to be honest is a little over the top, but has to be done with only 6 teams).

Would also mean if there were 6 teams still (could Hurunui step up too, or any other clubs decide to as well?) there will become bye weeks which is far from ideal

What if Nelson were 6th? They happy to travel down every second week to take on the might of Parklands and Burwood?

Considering it costs $3k to enter the MPL another $2k is not much of a stretch to enter a Sth Island league if that covers your travel costs, of course non existent player payments would have to be carefully considered on top of this :)

And what about starting with a 6 team league first up?

Wouldn't be so bad if technically was correct.

As someone who supports a club that has been on the receiving end of technicalities I was merely asking the question. Not sure if the rule applies still but once upon a time in the very near past clubs lost points for playing 16 year olds who's parents had not given written permission to Mainland for their children to play senior football, what's so wrong with that?

I thought 16 year olds could and it was 15 and below that needed dispensation?

Thanks Dragoon, so the way I read it clubs intending to play male players U16 at the start of the season must apply for dispensation or am I incorrect and it only applies if they are U16 on the day of the game?

As soon as you turn 16 no paperwork is required. Before then, you have to apply to Mainland and they have turned down or approved these requests in 2017.

I think it may be 18 if your parents are not residing in NZ.

Great teams! Would Nelson be interested is the question I'm posing however.

Frigging joke if you ask me, first few rounds of ccl effectively mean nothing. While I love the SI league concept, the split following is bollucks

Understand is still a proposal and not set in concrete and the Federation's are asking the clubs for feedback, concerns by early September with another meeting then set down for later that month still if enough concrens than can see changes.

Maybe the first 2/3 rounds becomes the CCL league and title. The extra round is a play off/end of season trophy? This could mean chances to win a competition later in the season (something that maybe could of benefited Halswell this year after their slow start?)

Yup, that sounds better.  3 rounds for the title and the MPL promotion (for the following year), then the SI comes in, and the bottom 3 MPL come down to play the CCL in a random league.

Has Nelson ever finished 6th? Although it could happen, it is unlikely that they will slip that far back.

How would this play out in terms of length of season. Would it require teams to each have 1 or 2 Fri night/Sunday double header weekends, or a memorandum that English Park, Yaldhurst and Kendall Park all get taken for MPL/CCL games if bad weather hits region?

Yes three time. 7th in 2002 (the first year of the MPL) when it was a 12 team comp, then again in 2003 - a ten team comp and finally in 2009 - and 8 team comp but only 14 rounds.

Since then Suburbs lowest finishing position has been 4th in 2014. Overall they have won 4 titles, runner-up 5 times and third 3 times in the 15 season (not counting this season which will either be 3rd or 4th.

Really good game of football between 2 good sides but tech showed the importance of taking your chances. Unfortunately the standard of officiating is nowhere near the standard of play & when the players understandably get frustrated & say naughty words rather than managing the situation cards get flashed around which costs the players games & clubs/players money in an amateur sport. With a couple of notable exceptions teams must think they'd be better off reffing a half each!!

This is funny. I like the way you switched fudge in there rather than the F bomb. I also like how you left in the e.

Where no matter the result, there will be a redhead crying, possibly two if it works out how I would like it to.

Think you'll find a "young" talent like that will be tucked up in bed after a winning night, sleeping soundly with the thought of 11 goals - 2nd in golden boot in his break through MPL season.

No sleep lost.

Watched the semi. A close game. Claphams free kick dinner it up well. Coastal had a free kick 5 minutes earlier in the same spot and missed. I heard Clapham hasn't trained in weeks and just rocks up and starts out of nowhere. Someone said he doesn't have to go to after matches or anything. Apart from his free kick he was poor.

Some Tech players must really hate the way he's treated there...

I suppose as FDM or whatever, he is Hutchies boss. Awkward if he doesn't start. And if as you say he doesn't train with the rest, well that's a whole different level of shark

Need to win outweighs the morale of the rest of the squad I guess.

His wife has just had a baby, and I'd say he's earnt the right over the years to be treated a little differently.

I should add I don't know the guy nor support Tech, just my 2 cents worth...

As much as I despise Tech and 'rangas, I've got no problem with it either.

If Wang Chan is correct (he is always right - pity about no Cup Final between Bays and Coastal you were picking) I would hate to think how good Claps freekicks will be once he gets back to training.
