Yes appears mainland have backtracked on what they told clubs at the start of 2013, which was the qualifying was by winning div one on Sundays. Too bad if you were a div one team!! You've been shafted! How do they know if the parklands junior team could beat the div one teams???

So they are. Nothing too interesting on there as yet, apart from the long running YF rumour of Dan Ede to Selywn. Joining him will be ex MPL striker extraordinaire Greg Feutz.

Understand that Dan will be missing a good part of the season due to overseas trip.

I think there was a meeting with the Clubs from WPL. No one kicked up a storm so Parklands got the push up.

Feutz's boy is a nice player. Wonder if he is going to Selwyn as well.

In Burnley program and been to Perth recently. Stand out player. Pete Roberts quit as fdo at mid canty so whatever was there as an FTC program (very little -  thats why Ryan Feutz came to Burnley at Selwyn) unlikely to continue. So what are the options for those even further out of town? Not likely to get to ASB for ftc and why would they as they are now arguably better coached by a private provider closer to home.
FTC not be and end all, but still peddled as such by MF, who's staff have been pretty much focussed on filling their own program and securing their own jobs since xmas. All funded by local clubs that are working hard on player development through their own programs. Some are better at it than others, but there is no one way of producing good footballers, something (staff at) MF is in denial of for fear of their own jobs.

From what I heard he couldn't get in CU being top goal getter for best team in Christchurch and wanted to get into more coaching than playing

Re the FC20 state secret - seems they have yet to sort which coaches will take which teams, hence players unsure of the pecking order. Div1 coach is Glen Laspslie who had 2013 PDL. Then there is the team playing in the MPL Reserve league (players unaware of who that coach is as of Thurs night); and the 3rd team in the mix is the PDL team (sort of a reserve grade for Div 1). Apparently the coach who had the fc20 2013 15th grade team is taking this role. can anyone on the inside (of fc) confirm any of this?

Now I'm confused. Is there a reserve league AND a PDL league this year? Plus an U23?

Reserve league I guess is the 7 CHCH MPL teams reserve team, plus last years relegated side's reserve team (FC2011).  But this used to be called the PDL.  So then who is in the PDL?

Don't feel to bad mate, you did break this news months ago. Since when does this thread contain rumours that turn out to be true?

We've changed.

as I understand it, the new PDL is a sort of youth/2nd team for div 1 clubs. I guess fc20, Waimak, Chch utd, mid canty, selwyn will all field a team and maybe hornby. That's 6. Cash tech also had a team in div 1 last yr so not sure if they're entitled to a start. And I guess FC bombers have been forced down a div? Is that right?
U23 whole diff league and I can't see it happening.
And as for the women..,foal I'm waiting to hear the story.
So, situation normal for mainland this time of year. Clear as mud, isn't it?

Old pdl now called reserve league like it used to be with the mpl teams like you said, the u23 league is to be called pdl which is designed to be mainly for div 1 clubs with resrerve teams, pdl has no promotion/relegation its just a stanalone division. Clear as mud??

Thanks red devil. So I'm wrong. New PDL is u23 - any exemptions?

New reserve grade i assume has no age stipulations

Guys guys, your clubs are not doing a good job of keeping you informed. Wait - here's a thought; rather than doing god knows what someone at Mainland can get this on their website, among with new structure for girls/women.
In short: MPL has Reserve league beside it. All MPL clubs will have a Reserve team, with exception of Nelson; their spot is taken up by club relegated last season FC2011. No age restrictions in either. Then there is div 1 which has been given a standalone, no promotion/relegation PDL league for under 23 year olds, with dispensation for 5 overage players. This league is to cater for the div1 clubs as there "reserve league" which kicks off just after mid day. Any other clubs that can fit the age criteria can join I understand.
See, not so confusing if someone spells it out. Again, should be done by the people that get paid for it, so we can concentrate on the trivial stuff!

For the likes of Burwood or Pap Redwood, gives them a better standard of football rather than starting out in div 6

Fellas, we're on a roll now!!! That's what Uni should have had last season; would have prepared them much better.

Uni had a team in the u21 league last year but it folded mid season due to lack of teams so they ended up in div 4

well wpl clubs wouldn't complain would they. Of course they want another team in there. Would have thought they should have asked div 1 clubs if any of them wanted promotion given that was the route enforced by mainland at the start of 2013!! But nah why not change the rules on this too!!

I don't know if Halswell was asked how they felt about it. As far as WPL wanting another team if the Western rumors are true then it's a wasted effort.
