As i said earlier has the English Cup lost some of its value with Tech fielding a weakened team? Its not like there are that many games in the season that players cant cope with the quantity? Not taking anything away from Western that is a fantastic result obviously.

Well Tech started with Terris, Boys, T.Schwarz, Evans, Kelly, Halligan, Oxley and Lockhart. Matthysen & Heath were the only two fringe players, and they're considered to be top talents. Not sure who the goalie was. White came off the bench in the second half, as did a player i've never seen before...who proceeded to get himself sent off late in the game. So people can decide for themselves how much of a weakened team that was...

It was a classic cup game: Tech dominating for the first 25 mins and Western putting their bodies on the line: in truth, Tech could have been a couple up, but Western kept battling and rode their luck. However, the longer the game stayed at 0-0, the more confident Western became, and started to get a bit of joy on the break: they've got some players with pace and kept Tech's defence honest. Thought Tech worked the ball very well in the first half, but in the second their fluency went and frustration set it. A lot of their crossing became a bit aimless: they never really " got round the back " very often, and a set piece goal became their most likely method of scoring. Western's first goal was in about the 83 min, and of course Tech tried to throw the kitchen sink at Western in the time remaining but were undone again with a couple of mins to go. Brownie's right: Western took their chances and Tech didn't: Cup football in a nutshell. Western deserve a lot of credit: they played with great team spirit...

Sums it up well Ray ,we played a strong team .  Unfair to take credit away from Western .

From what i heard you are getting your Schwarzs mixed up there and although its a strong team, would they start that in the Chatham Cup quarter final or league game? No, so yes that is a considerably weakened team. Again not taking anything away from Western that is some result and they obviously deserved it. I guess my point is that it becomes a bit of a second tier prize when teams are not fully committing to it, kind of like the FA cup, yes your happy to win it but do you really care if you don't? But that's just my opinion.

So, to sum up, you inferred that CT put out a weakened team, and upon being challenged, have made the classic blunder of repeating what you already said in spite of statements tabled to the contrary. I sense a Republican Party nomination in your future...

And with the exception of the two young fellas, all those players start league and CC games (from memory anyway).

Personal opinion:If the goalkeeper was Fraser or Max C, then great job to them! Congrats

Incorrect Shushy6. They did put out a weakened team, end of.

I was told that Coastal put out a weakened team against Halswell last Saturday? And pretty sure they would be taking that seriously....

I think teams have always played youngsters and players that need the minutes to keep ppl happy etc in early stages of the English cup

You can put money on Ferrymead to win English cup I reckon. The sleeping giant is desperate to do something this year and they are showing signs of being a cracking late bloomer.

Can def see Coastal chocking in another final as always.

In fact, it feels as if Coastal is close to losing the plot after seeing them all have a jizz fest over the most uncoordinate player to grace the MPL in history get his 100th

Bays to win English Cup you reckon?? Showing signs of being a cracking late boomer?? You clearly don't know football!! Maybe your more suited to tae-kwon-do or whatever your uncle Jackie Chan does in the movies on TV!

Haven't seen much of coastal this year but they seem to finally have sorted things out! Results on the field and only really struggling with Cash Tech so the most uncoordinated player to ever grace the MPL must be doing something right?

And you too are making an epic first impression sir. But then anything I post seems to offend you, or you don't understand it I guess.

From now on I will add on a monosyllabic version for you, just so you can enjoy the post as well

Excuse me.... just playing through...

Loving the banter and the passion for your clubs and the game that it shows off.

Great season to date and 4 more rounds of drama to go - all good as far as this observer can see

There is a Wang Chan and a Wang Chang. I just want to make sure you haven't accused the wrong one of being a knob. Which one is the knob or is both of us? I don't want my well earned reputation for terribly uninformed insights and uneducated opinions to be tarnished by an impostor......

Small WANG Chan!!! I thought all the smart people know not to mess with the train this season?

Pitts is a fan favorite of ours and pretty sure he got player of the day and started ahead of 2x NZ fullbacks because hes playing class?

I managed to catch up and talk footy with Messiah. Wow Coastals aspirations are going for the stars. Lots of work being done on infrastructure which is still a couple years away though. Messiah said hes nearly locked in 2x ex Dragons players for next year. Players that would walk into the dragons team again.

It just never stops. The club is just so darn enthutiastic about everything and really loving life. I asked if hes taking English cup seriously and he said "hell freaking yeah" so, Small WANG Changx2 that might answer your question. A chance to win silverware and prize money for the club must be taken seriously from our perspective.

As for Ferrymead winning the English cup.... Who would have thought Coastal could beat them FOUR times in a season. Love that.

CHOOO CHOOOO

Train what are your thoughts on Egor aka 'Messiah' for Dragons coach in the near future? Have you talked about any of his future coaching aspirations? If he can turn around Coastal surely he would find taking the dragons to the top easy?

Im very supportive and passionate about Messiahs coaching career. I think he said he needs to get a level 3 ticket or something? The Ghanian imports hes working on will change the NZ national league. Support from fans with drums n being vocal n what not will also be dif for nz football culture.  I hope one day he is a national league coach. Still lots to prove I guess. Im told there are more national league jobs in the south island now? I guess thats cause of Tasman? So maybe in years to come the opportunity will present itself if he keeps at it. Hes got a huge following of players. I think there are Nelson players that would play for him with Dragons for sure. His man management with foreign players im told is really strong too.

Not really sure what he wants but what I do know is that his hearts with Coastal and he wants to win everything with them. He says with the support of the Coastal Board and the support of US fans then he has everything he needs to do it!!!

Would you like to join the Coastal Train Wang Chang? Its a bloody good time haha

Thats good to hear, we need more passionate and skilled football coaches in NZ and for us Canterbury. That Ghanaian import sounds fantastic, i think his uncle may have emailed me about depositing only $10,000 into his bank account and his nephew will come play for a team of my choice?

I would love a first class ticket onto the Coastal train it sounds like its heading places and having a great time along the way. Where do you sign up? Can i wear the conductors hat or is that yours train?

I hear the Messiah has a young 39 year old striker he's been keeping his eye on in the Sunday League, he's certainly younger than the last debutant at the end of a season so there's still hope

We all should catch up and introduce ourselves. I'm the good looking one, and I'll be wearing a tuxedo with a red carnation. I also like long walks on the beach.

Too much Coastal chat on here.at the moment and Cashmere Tech keeping things low key.

Talking of putting out weak sides.

Nomads will be lucky to win again this season due to four or more players injured or finished playing for the year.

Erm they're playing Waimak next week! Shouldn't be any issue there. One of the players that have left wasn't there at the start of season either so that should only be 3 missing.

The fact they've also signed other players mid season, plus have only lost 1 game in the reserves means they should have the streng
