If he does play with have to be in the MPL as will have to wait until the next round of the Chatham Cup assuming Cashmere Technical knock Selwyn out on Monday.

But he has written a book and stuff! I am tipping a red card in the 19th minute.

Yes finished 1 - all, sound like Western had a couple of good chances to score the winner in the last few minutes.

Points at the bottom half of the table now Univ 12, FC 11, Halswell 9 and Western 8, with FC playing Halswell tomorrow.

Western (500) now join Nelson Suburbs (575) and Ferrymead Bays (599)  as having scored 500 MPL goals

The bottom of the table more interesting than the CTFC train.

O, OK Coastal do have a chance of getting a win.

Title wrapped up already???

The 6-2 scoreline is a bit missleading really as Coastal were right in the game until their centre-back got sent off at the end of the first half. 2-1 at half-time. O'Brien missed a couple of big chances when Coastal were 1-0 up, costly misses.

The second half though, Cashmere had free reign and could have been double figures.Sigmund looked good when he came on in an attack midfield role (even grabbed a goal). Cashmere defence looked pretty comfortable all game. Siggy will be better utilised in the midfield.

Zach was red after 20mins. Poor call to be sent off but the next penalty 2 minutes later was even worse.

On the 1st goal Coastal players stopped for the whistle.... Unfortunatly it was on the next field!...that was a sad one to concede.

We had to score first and keep 11 on the field, we didn't do both so we lost. Bring on Round III

Did Ekow get out coached?

Not in my book, in fact his approach contributed to a very entertaining game.

Playing out from the back with 10 men was always going to be difficult on a skating rink like that.

Good to see Siggy play and score a class goal. Clever move by Broonie to play him through the midfield to nullify his own goal tendencies ? Cashmere closed it out well with their high pressing game, think at least 3 of the second half goals came as a result of that so the Coastal boys will be taking a close look at their execution, I'm sure they'll learn heaps from today's game. All pretty positive.

Great to see Macca back in action ?

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Just caught up with this. Regardless of the impact of the send off, 6-2 is a thrashing. Congratulations Cashmere. I hope Coastal are humble and learn from it.

Judging from earlier humble doesn't appear to be in the vocab..

I felt that the ref had little choice with the red card as once he had decided it was denying a goal scoring opportunity and the player was the last man then the red was going to be the only card produced.

Still 27 points up for grab so still plenty to play for between Tech, Coastal and Suburbs.

Updated Table

Team P W D L F A GD Pts
Cashmere Technical 12 10 0 2 33 12 21 30
Coastal Spirit 12 8 2 2 27 14 13 26
Nelson Suburbs 12 8 1 3 25 14 11 25
FC Twenty11 12 4 2 6 25 26 -1 14
Ferrymead Bays 12 4 1 7 24 26 -2 13
Universities 12 3 3 6 16 21 -5 12
Halswell 12 2 3 7 15 37 -22 9
Western 12 2 2 8 6 21 -15 8

Title race clearly a three team race with the other five all with a negative goal different so the relegation battle may be the closest for a number of seasons.

Refs ruin this competition. Bring in refs from Auckland I say. Tech breezed through coastal today.

I thought the referee was out of his depth today. The linesman on the dugout side is a far better ref than the young fella in the middle today.
