Thanks for a comprehensive and authoritative answer re lighting levels.

You soccer players are indeed very blessed with such state of the art pitches. You must have good administrators looking after the mostly moaning lot. Gosh, you guys are lucky!

By the way, is it true that you only use Wakefield 1 for matches under light. Why is this? Can't you use Wakefield 2 for matches at night?

There isn't a consent to put lights up on number 2.
Permalink Permalink

is that going to be changed? Why was consent not gained from the start?

Queenslander 3x a year.

Yes they do have good administators. Whoops bit of self back patting.
Remember rugby also gets to use these pitches.

2nd best is right. Resource consent for lights on Wakefield 2 is currently in the process of being sought and hopefully Wakefield 2 will be fully lit for next season. Even it had been sought from the start it is unlikely to have been recieved before the end of the season (will probably take about six months). Part of the process has been to get some noise testing levels done which has just been completed.

Having said that, the lighting on Wakefield 2 has been sufficient to have training take place.
In addition, after viewing light levels,  it is also sufficient to have lower graded games played on it. Subject to appropriate noise levels this may also take place in future.

Has anyone actually tried playing on 2 under lights and provided feedback.  I heard it wasn't good.

I would have thought having lights on only one side would cause issues if you're looking from the dark side to the light side.  Just want to check decisions haven't been made based on numbers only and not taking the actual experience in to account.

HN I had the honour of reffing a lower grade game on # 2 and you are dead right, there were major issues when looking from dark to light as every player looked like they were wearing an all black strip.  Impossible to differentiate between them.

Dear CF,

In general I think it is great that you are contributing to this forum but is it possible that you would ever take action against someone posting comments that were deemed to be a breach of the NZF Code of Conduct?

If so, would it be possible to take action against someone posting under a psuedonym if they were able to be identified some other way? (e.g. through the content of their post).

You can't expect CF to answer this?

If they say "yes" then you'll hit them on the head with it every time they decide not to.

If they say "no" people will see it as open season.

The only answer they can realistically give is "maybe, depending on the circumstances".

As per CF Regs

Promotion/Relegation

1) General Provisions:

a) In promotion/relegation matters, promotions are always completed first,

then relegations are made as required.

Wests would automatically go down, NW even if lose playoff would go up

(However, if IBU end up 3rd then only Petone go up and Wests stay!)
[/QUOTE]

so if a play off game between say 9th in prem - wainui and 2nd/3rd in cap 1 say north wgtn??
does this game take place immediately after the season? or does it get delayed until we see if upper hutt or wgtn utd get promoted to central league??
as if one of up hutt/wgtn utd  go up, then petone replaces wests and wainui stay prems and north wgtn replace up hutt/wgtn ??

the game gets played at the end of the Cap1 season ie before UH has playoffs.
And I am not sure what you meant by the last bit - read what it says again

Artificial pitches are the way forward and with suitable lighting, you guys can play soccer 24/7. May be new pitces should be sited 1. on new land so existing fields are not affected, 2. far away from residential areas so neighbours won't whinge, 3. near rail and bus services, 4. good load of car parking and also some parking for buses, 5. decent facilities for spectators, players and officials. Then you can host regional tournaments as well.

Agree. Real stupid people are usually too stupid to ask questions. Pretend-to-be clever people ask real stupid questions. Smart alecs ask stupid questions so they can down others.

Capital Football was also at that game. It is correct that the lighting isn't perfect on Wakefield 2. However, HN as quoted "In addition, after viewing light levels,  it is also sufficient to have lower graded games played on it"

Here's the deal, this is the forecast for the end of next week.

Thursday                     Friday                       Saturday

Showers                    Rain                         One or two showers
Southeasterlies           Southeasterlies         with southwesterlies

Now we all know what that means. Either games are cancelled or played on some dodgy surfaces.

The view taken is that there is enough lighting for games to be played allowing players a better experience to play on a superior surface than slog around in the mud on a Saturday!

Remember that this is hopefully temporary for this season until lights are put up for next season.

Similar to Smithy's answer, there's no point in trying to outline a set of circumstances because there are limitless exclusions or inclusions.

Capital Football contributing to the forum wasn't meant to act as police for comments.

It was to answer any reasonable questions and provide information that may be useful.
Happy to do that.

Fair enough.

My issue is more with the Code of Conduct which a great idea but really is stupidly restrictive. All that stuff about "Do not speak to any media in a negative way, or publish any negative comment (including on any website) regarding New Zealand Football or any of its Federations".

There you go, I've probably breached the Code of Conduct right there.

It's a shame because the stupid bits reduce the credibility of the whole document, so everyone pretty much just ignores it and carries on creating heaps of work for you!

Teams defaulting must piss the other team off. In soccer, do defaulting teams have to pay any penaltya dn if so, what sort of fines are you talking about?

There are penalties.

There is a fine of $50. The aim is to give every team 18 games and if a team defaults, the other team through no fault of their own can't. Plus it means teams hopefully won't default unless they've got a significant reason to do so.

For teams that don't phone their default by 1pm on the day before their game there is $100 fine. The reason for this is to ensure teams just don't bother to turn up, which is particularly annoying for the other team. Plus if Capital Football is notified early enough then it becomes an extra ground to be able to use.

Capital Football, you mention that Wakefield 2 is only good for night games involving lower grades.

Why only lower grades, does that mean higher grades are not good enough, or that teams in lower grades are not as important?

I think you will find that my question was aimed at Capital football, or is this the ask smithy thread?

I just think that if the light at no 2 is not good enough for higher grades then its not really good enough for any grade.
Someone mentioned that they had a hard time trying to ref, others have mentioned having a hard time playing due to light.
If thats the case should it matter what grade plays?

Just a question smithy, so no need to get upset.

I'm not upset. It was just a stupid thing to say.

Of course the top teams get the best facilities, refs, pitches etc etc.

Those half-lights are good enough for donkey grades, and not good enough for good players. That is that.

But of course it's difficult for CF to say that. Because the donkeys with over-inflated opinions of themselves will get upset.Smithy2011-08-08 22:22:12

"but we pay our subs too" etc etc...

But i agree with you 100% smithy. I think it's most club's and CF's objective to improve the top level game in wellington so it makes sense that the top leagues get priority. Some people might not like it but that's the reality.

Fuck this stupid game

So what happens to the fine? Does this go to the club that was defaulted to as their players never got a game or does it just go into Capital Football's coffers?
It should go to the defaulted to team. After all if a team defaults it costs capital football what?

its more of a disincentive for people to not default, not a compensation or punishment.

Yes the tables are there but the Q was about the results.  According to the "This season" section, there has been no senior men's football played in the Capital since 10 April.  Since these results are, according to previous advice from Cap Fed, the official results based on cards (the "Current" being phoned results so subject to dickheadedness), this is not very acceptable.
