Realistically it's 4 teams (Brisbane, WSW, Perth, and us) chasing the 6th. I think the top 5 are pretty safe barring something very weird happening.

5 teams when you add Western United, who are also right in the hunt.
3 six pointer games in a week for the Nix - Snakes, WSW & Glory.

A win against WU, should see the season still alive for Perth at Eden Park, and a reasonable crowd if the weather is okay, even if lose midweek in Parramatta.

Really it's 6th spot they are going for, anything above that a bonus.

Grim Friday night when have to support Newcastle.

Roar have a rather good record in the Hunter, I don't have high hopes that the Jets can help us here.

City sealed the Premiers Plate last night.

Triple header on tonight, starting with the Sydney Derby at 6pm. It has been ages since Sydney have won one but now would be a good time to break the drought.

He's referring to the derby verus WSW.

Smurfs haven't won a derby game since Dec 2018. Hopefully for Nix's top 6 hopes that drought is broken. A few suspensions, and injuries to Wanderers squad wouldn't hurt. Plus Duke getting called up for Socceroo's 34 man squad (longshot probably)

At least WSW will go into Wednesday's game with a shorter turnaround, and coming off a much harder game than was a pretty ordinary Western United for the Nix.

If we are winning our next three matches, a WSW win is best result here to keep Sydney within reach. Sydney win helpful if we only get 2 wins and a draw.

Hopefully Sydney doesn't sub on ABJ. In his 3 seasons in the A-League, he is yet to appear on the winning side in a Sydney Derby.

Sydney are 7 points ahead, with 3 games to play. It would require a total meltdown for us to get above them, so would prefer we keep WSW below us.

The likelihood of the Nix winning 3 games in 10 days, 2 of those games away, criss crossing the Tasman, against 3 teams of pretty similar ability to them, without their best player for 1 maybe 2 games, is low.

Yesterday at ROF was great, but WU are in terrible form (5 consecutive losses, GF 1, GA 14) and didn't fire a shot. It's easy to over rate beating them 3-0.

Best to hope that Roar, WSW & Glory lose as much as possible - so Nix can somehow grab 6th spot.

Sydney's last two matches are away to Adelaide & Brisbane. Wouldn't need a total meltdown to draw those, leaving them on 40 points.

I love all these permutations in play. Agreed it seems unlikely Sydney could choke from here but if they were to lose today they would have a very nervy final 180 minutes of the season against highly motivated Adelaide and Roar. Sydney haven't managed to beat a top 6 side for quite some time now.

Teams we are playing will go into it having heavier schedules and/or less rest time between games than us, so the travel should be survivable. I actually think having two games in New Zealand increases our chances of finishing season with a streak rather than hinders.

Agree that winning what would be the last four matches is a big ask, but it sure is possible.

I suppose I'm looking at it with this one that either result has possible benefits. I don't think WSW will beat Brisbane & Adelaide anyway, so I'm not that worried by them.

Bobo!! 1-0

Excellent goal. Although excitement undermined by waiting for VAR to rule it out because Bobo breathed a bit too heavily into the defender's ear on the way through.

Is it just me who thinks Gestede has to be the worst striker ever in the A League?? How many A League goals has he scored?? Considering his size and speed, he plays like Appiah.
