Glad I didn't end up buying tickets, flights, accommodation etc to this farce. Will watch it on sommet because of Ifill though.

Hardly a farce when 14 of the squad were EPL winners.

Guess it would be worth it if I had a special travel agent friend who could get me there $1000 cheaper.

I must have missed something, I thought the 80000 paying public were going to see Man Utd, not the All Stars.

Sitting in a restaurant in Sydney this afternoon and was listening to the table of 8 next to me when the wife was in the bathroom - one of the guys was complaining that they sold all the tickets to this game and then announced that Rooney was injured. Like it was deliberate. Even one of the girls (who obviously knew nothing) said that it a) probably wasn't planned, and b) there is still plenty of other players that people would want to see

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Ha! Ha! Man U lost to the Thai All-Stars 1-0 in Bangkok on the weekend - I've a feeling Moyes will be more in the Ron Atkinson/ Tommy Docherty mould i.e. not very successful. He's a very limited manager.

"United were missing Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Nani and captain Nemanja Vidic among others..."

Fair call actually. But its still a farce of a game, considering the opposition man utd are playing aren't exactly A league all stars. The concept is flawed. But it still cool for some that man utd are coming over. Hopefully they put out a decent team.

I watched this. City were horrendously poor. On the other hand, that South African league has some quality players!

In retrospect do you think a game vs Sydney FC would have been better? I'm off to the Victory v Liverpool game next week and the more the All Stars fell apart before they had even started, the more I was glad that the Liverpool game wasn't following the same flawed concept.

Yep definitely. I was thinking that as I typed in fact. Though perhaps even a flawed all stars concept will grab more attention than a game against a single A league club would. For example, ill be watching the all stars game on tv because ifill is involved, whereas I may not go out of my way to watch victory v Liverpool if it was on tv.

I'm going, but I agree with what everyone has said about its farcical nature. Just a good excuse to watch a bit of live footy and have a long weekend in Sydney.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

People complaining of the strength of the all stars but the tards are going to be without IIRC Thompson, Milligan, Coe and Nichols to Aus (their EAFF cup squad to be finalised this week) as well as I think Traore and Finkler still being injured, no more Rojas and Flores and no major signing to replace Flores yet.

And like Tegal said, due to players from across the league in the all stars team, in our case Ifill (and to a lesser extent AW McGlinchey), my interest in that game is greater than the tards v liverpool game. FFA have made changes to standard player contracts so all stars selection is given same priority as international selection - future teams won't be as nerfed

I think ideally you'd have the A-league winners playing a touring team. But I guess that depends on expected crowds etc etc. Would you get 80,000K going to watch CCM V ManU. I'd imagine you still get the Man U fan boys (jokes) travelling inter-state and inter-country to watch the game. But would other non-ManU or non-CCM fan go to the game? I'm not so sure

And then when the 'Nix are champs would the FFA want to have a European team playing at the cake tin or in NZ or are the 'Nix expected to play their game in Sydney or Melbourne. IMHO, the best argument against the All Stars is the atmosphere - I assume that there is a dedicated tard zone that will support their team which wont be the case for the all stars team.

And to further add to MVFC woes against Liverpool Connor Pain is also in the Socceroo squad. All 5 tards confirmed today. So all stars > tards b/nyl team

Guessing this has had a lot of advertising on Radio Sport? The person I go to Nix games with (despite being a Man Utd fan), asked me If I was gonna watch it. She seemed a bit gutted when I told her she won't be able to get it on her Saturn TV.
