For our FFA Cup game last year our starting XI/bench at the time was listed as a 4-2-3-1:

Kurto, Lowry,  Taylor, Durante, Cacace, Kopa, Fox, Nicholls, Burns, Singh, Krishna

Bench: Sail, Fenton, Doyle, Rufer, Waine

Will be interesting to see if we can pull together a stronger squad than we had at this time last year come our first game.

So now, so far, it'd be;

Marinovic

Fenton-Taylor-DeVere-Cacace

Rufer, ??

Davila

McCowatt Sotorio

Waine.

Eek.

I think Scott is more likely to be at RB than Fenton. I think this in a 4-4-2 diamond:

Marinovic

Scott - Taylor - DeVere - Cacace

Fenton - Rufer - Davila - Sotirio

McCowatt - Waine

Fenton did so well last year as a RWB, I'd almost be disappointed to see him go back to being a RW.

Yeah, feeling the same way. Might take a bit of getting used to.

Excited to see what McCowatt can offer us though. Good chance to see if he's able to carry on from his form in the Handy after a relatively subdued U20WC. Good little test first up me thinks.

His skill set translate better into a RW than RB. He is perfect for a back 3 but Talay isn't gonna play that.

Disagree, but we'll see. Do not think Fenton is good enough to be an A-League winger; RWB suited him perfectly really.

But based on what Uffies said, RWB isn't an option. Fentons skillset seems more transferable to RW than RB to me. but we'll see. Think he's improved enough to do a job at either spot but will depend on what sort of role Ufuk has the fullbacks play. If they still have a lot of license to get forward I think he'll do ok in there.

Look at the way SFC play where Taly has come from. Ryan Grant and Michael Zullo get up and down the line plenty playing in a back four.

I can see Talay wanting to set up a similar structure to allow Fenton and Libby to do the same for us.

Only worry is our defence on the quick counter as we do not have alot of pace there in Taylor and DeVere. Key is with our defensive midfield structure having quality DM's that are quick to cover when required.

As much as I liked Mandi last year that was certainly not his strong point especially latter in games.

Someone like Tim Payne would be great for covering the backline when our full backs get up the field.

Well, sounds Payne like is trialling, as it TAHW who could fill that gap and provide CB competition.

3 weeks out from facing the Jets in the FFA Cup, the Victory have 12 senior players signed (11 if/when Antonis leaves). Yet the TAB still have them as big favorites ($1.67), so I'm rather tempted by the $4.50 for the Jets.

Round of 32 kicks off tonight, sadly Sky TV isn't showing the games. The Nix twitter account said they were gonna talk to Sky about showing the Nix's FFA Cup game.

Alex Smith plays for the home team in tonight's game, no Eric Panzer as he is Cup-tied.

I know he had a lengthy injury but surely he could still get a gig somewhere in the a league? Not as a starter but he would be fine as a squaddie surely

Still only 29, so would be a decent pick up for most teams.

Kiwi GK Aiden Munford is included in CCM's squad, along with McGlinchey.

Mullen is playing for his old man's team though, along with some of his cousins. Think he's there genuienly for the family reasons (which is nice to see).

why? are you, like the aussie media will no doubt be, assuming we are finishing last like every season? WE finished 6th last year ahead of four others, including CCM, Newcastle, Western Sydney and Brisbane. Why would we not be better than any of those?

CCm's #17, Sam Silvera has been getting rave reviews from their fans. He is one to look out for tonight. Guessing their visa player Kim must be hurt, he has looked quality in pre-season games.
