I watched the highlights of the final.. What an atmosphere. It would ajve been great for us to be a part of that. Not just for the club and the fans (I think we deserve it!) but for the players themselves. Exposure to big games brings experience and we could have benefitted as a football team. Let's s hope we continue to make the Cup a priority in the final season and that we go one better next year.

Nix only made it a priority after they bet the Western United kids, with a Weenix side in the Round of 32. And that was invaluable experience for the kids, as every starter in that game bar Mogg, has gone on to get some ALM minutes.

Next season I imagine it will again revert to a pre season comp, so Talay & Co may treat it differently again.

Devonport are at the top of the table by 8 points after 11 games. They have scored 40 and conceded 5, Keegan Smith in goal for 10 of those games.

So big fish in a small pond. So they can put real focus on this match up vs us.

Sounds like he has improved. Remember when he was at the Phoenix in 2017/18, did not really impress compared to Paulsen in recent times.

In fairness, he was chucked in the deep end with concrete boots under Kalezic. Plucked from relative obscurity and plumped straight into the starting XI as an 18 year old because the gaffer thought he could play out from the back better than what we had at the time...

I'm sure he's probably grown a bit and become a better keeper over the past couple of years, but I don't think he'd be a patch on what Paulsen is/is going to be.

Honestly apart from a few bright spots, 2017/18 was a disaster. The one and only season I took a break from watching the Phoenix because of how poorly they were doing.

It would absolutely pointless comparing performance for the dominant team in a weak Tassie NPL comp, to the ALM in any shape or form.

Conspiring with one the kids he coaches to help bring down Scott Morrison, may end being a career high point.

Just looking at the Round of 32 schedule and George Ott's Melbourne Knights are nowhere to be seen. Did they just not qualify for the Round of 32?

Nope, they got knocked out. They are in a rebuilding phase. One of the youngest squads I read somewhere.

Was looking forward to seeing Ott in the Australia Cup, heard he has already scored some goals for the Knights but I haven't had a chance to see him playing in the NPL.

I also hope Charlie Austin is in the starting line up for the Roar.

Franjic and White facing their former side.
