Since the start of the NRL and Super Rugby season, every time I watch a Sydney FC home game the pitch looks worse and worse. Today it looks threadbare in most places

Taggart might yet end up with a Golden Boot? Sorry I am too lazy to check the stats for myself.

Unless Ibusuki goes all Archie Thompson vs American Samoa on Wednesday night, he has won it. First time ever the Golden Boot winner is in a team that ends last.

Unless money is an object, I see fit Ibusuki as an excellent replacement for Zawada if he does not stay. Similar player, excellent scoring instinct, and the Reds are apparently not renewing his contract.

Sad seeing Perth reduced to a rabble late season. Alan Stajcic will be shown the door surely.

6-1 Joel King, it's just too easy for Sydney

Oli Sail is just not being offered any protection from his defenders

Joel King makes it 6-1.

This is officially the highest average goals per game during a season in Australian top tier football.

Expecting us to end up 2nd on the table, will we play either Victory or WSW for the semi?

looking at RR's graphic, if City win they will take WSWs spot, otherwise yeah 2nd will play Vic or WSW

If we finish second, we face the highest placed winner from Week 1, so can't play City/WSW.

Most likely it is gonna to be Victory

His behaviour at the end of last season means I don’t have sympathy for him. Bit of schadenfreude even..

And the Final six are locked in. Next weekend we have

Victory vs City
Sydney vs Macarthur

So we'll meet either Victory, City, SFC or Macarthur in our semifinal. I can't see Macarthur go through so that leaves the other 3. All of those would be very tough. Traditionally we've struggled to get results against those teams, especially away from home.

To be honest I'm surprised he is even allowed in Australia after getting drunk, escaping quarantine, and getting arrested for drink driving a golf cart on public roads.

Hope Macarthur. They have the players to beat teams.

There were no news of any "violent conduct" etc. so  I think it was just one game.

Not sure if we can expect repetition of that Great Escape Trick they pulled off with nine men against SFC.  Sydney seem to be peaking at the right time.

I actually had a dream Adelaide beat CCM 2:0. For some reason I was at a restaurant lol.

Seriously though, we all hope Adelaide can do the job but we have to be realistic. They haven't beaten any top 6 side in over 10 matches and now have nothing to play for...

I see Adelaide have signed a deal with PSV Eindhoven which could benefit them in terms of transfers plus youth set-up.

Wonder if there's time to ship a few Dutch stars over ahead of tonight.

If mariners win the competition by winning 6 games in a row with their workload, then they definitely deserve it and I won't begrudge them their championship.

In a Melbourne pub the only ALM game available was Mariners verus Jets. There was a whole bay of CCM supporters in Newcastle's ground, making plenty of noise. Helped that both 2nd half goals were down that end. They had a large young man, doing his own version of shirts off in the stands and blocking out the sun.

I imagine Gosford will be rocking tonight, to cheer their boys home. They have only this game and their home semi leg to play at Gosford. If they get to "host" the Grand Final it will be in Sydney. The AFC Cup final is half the world away in Oman.

So yeah can see their fans turning out in force tonight, and that will sadly be enough to get them home comfortably. Ideally for them 3-0, with 20 mins to go, and Jackson can safely take off a few of his big guns for a rest. Would love that scenario to be all turned on it's head, but feel the Reds upset chances are slim.

Gosford is terrible for midweek matches cuz so many people work in Sydney. So not expecting a massive crowd tonight.
