seen reports that suggest the CCM v Adelaide game will be played on April 30, 4 days after Adelaide v Brisbane (26th) and 3 days after CCM v Newcastle (27th).
Not great for either but you'd think less helpful to CCM's chances.

CCM also have their big AFC Cup tie this Wednesday 24th, so 3 games in 6 days.

I don't think we can rely on Adelaide to help us in their catch up game against the Mariners - They're the defensive equivalent of Swiss cheese this season, and Delianov is about two or three steps below what Gauci was on the goalkeeping front. Just seems to me they're on autopilot until the end of the season now after fluffing their chances against a 10 man Macarthur the other week.

1-0 Roar after 4'.

Definitely poor keeping but I think Hore is one of the most underrated players in the league. I was surprised to hear Harper somewhat sniffily dismiss him by saying he's promised a lot this season but failed to deliver - not that I pay too much attention to what Harper says.

Six goals, an exceptional work rate, a handful in attack yet strong on defence, and can play central or wide. I wouldn't mind him in our midfield to be honest.

The Reds tails are up now. Van der Saag makes it 1-4. Be good if they could keep this scoring form for just one more match....

....although it won't be much good if they concede as easily as that! 3-4 with about 10 to go. Hore a second.

Hopefully they will be motivated to spoil a possible CCM party.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Sadly they will be without Irankunda, who picked up his 8th yellow early on & will be suspended.

Yep, it's the defensive side of their game that has me worried.

Offensively, they have scored the most in the League!

And I've just seen RR's post. FFS. 😒

At least Ibusuki is in good goal scoring form, but yeah Irankunda's contribution will be missed should we have to rely on Adelaide.

WSW already a goal down against MV, Machach with an odd bump-ball goal over the keeper.

Arzani adds a second. WSW's already slim hopes of making the finals are surely at an end. Shame.

Apparently he's only got 7, two yellows in one game don't count.

Does anyone know how the Semis works?  The away goals rule doesn't apply, so do the games go to pens if it's a draw?

Yes, penalties. I have a bit of a fondness for the old away goals rule but it's been largely dispensed with now.

Meanwhile Arzani puts MV back in front 3-2.

WSW won't lie down! Hammond makes it 3-3.

...but wait, VAR are looking....

But it stands. 15 minutes for WSW to get an unlikely winner.

Cheers.  Does each game potentially go to pens?  Or does the first one have whatever result it is and then if the second game means the result is undecided it goes to pens?

Yep, second game only, assuming scores across both games are even.

Well done Wanderers. They looked dead and buried at 2-0 down after 15 minutes.

Melb City must beat WU tomorrow to make the six.

Yeah, I effed up when I looked at 4am this morning. Brain didn't think to check for instances of 2 yellows making a red, the first yellow doesn't count towards suspension if that happens. So he is available to play.

I think we would prefer a Melbourne Derby happening as well.

Assuming CCM finish first, we need them to get knocked out in the Semis to host the Grand Final. The best chance for that would be them facing Sydney or City.

A Melbourne Derby would do that. Either Victory win & play us (CCM face winner of Sydney/Macarthur) or City win and play CCM (we face the winner of Sydney/Macarthur).
