Huge, huge win for AFC. Very clinical performance in the second half. Completely shut down Victory. Big games from Paulsen, Verstrate and Mai. If City lose then AFC gets the plate.

A draw would be perfect.

Would mean we have basically won it on goal difference but we haven’t yet mathematically won it.

Therefore party time at Mt Smart against the worst defence in the league - when it can be officially won!!

Yeah surely they will want to win it at home in front of their fans.

Three for me, and two for them.

I am conficted as a Nix fan but as a kiwi football fan who has never seen a kiwi team win anything I hope they go all the way. Its great to see all the kiwi boys doing well. Plus the AFC games have been ok to watch with plenty of drama. Next weekend there could be a big party at Mt Smart stadium.

And yet, by all accounts, we're about to re-sign our coach.

Lol, the ref doesn't want Auckland to win the plate just yet.

Putting that aside though:
Great, I actually wanted WS to win so AFC wouldn’t get to lift the plate live at Mt Smart in front of their fans, now they fudgeing get the chance to do just that and in style by smashing the Glory of all teams, everything just always works out well for them.

Unbelievably close at the end there.

Tbf with Perth to come at home next week and a better goal difference by 11 you would have to say this has only delayed the inevitable.

They get their chance to win it at home at least.

Three for me, and two for them.

Perfect result. Perfect night.

plus 11 goal difference, 6 points ahead two games to play. Would be the biggest choke in football.

Can now however, win it  in front of 20,000 plus.

That was dramatic at the end but a clear off side. Should be a huge crowd next weekend in Auckland to celebrate a bit of history. Painfull for a Nix fan as late last season we were in with a shot of winning the plate.

Actually looking at the schedule, Melbourne city play Adelaide on Sat. AFC play on Sunday

Hopefully city can win that 1-0, to keep the plate alive until Sunday

Now that would be Perfect

Who gets to decide where the finals are played? As the A league takes the gate receipts i would imagine they would prefer Eden park. I couldnt imagine the grand final at Mt Smart if AFC get that far.
I think AFC will make the GF. As the commentators said AFC have the game plan, the coach and players to win the comp. They just strangled Melb V in the second half.

CCM v Macarthur is locked at 2-2.  It would be better for us if Macarthur won as it might give us a chance to finish in 9th place.

The A league decides where it's going to be played. AFC want it at Mt Smart - apparently capacity can increase to 30k. Eden Park is busy on Saturday so it would have to be played on the Sunday .

Our next opponent is taking on our last opponent tonight.  Brisbane currently behind 0-1 against Adelaide.  Amazingly Adelaide could still get into third place if they win and results to their way

Forget 1st and 2nd place.  The battle for 3-6 is far more exciting

Getting in now in the hope Brisbane don’t make it irrelevant:

Come on you Wanderers!

Edit: Well so much for that…
